Oklahoma Women's Basketball SEC opponents for 2025-2026 season
The Oklahoma Sooners women's basketball team is coming off their first Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA tournament under head coach Jenny Baranczyk. The Sooners went 27-8 and 11-5 in their first season in the SEC, good for fourth place in the conference.
As OU gets ready for year two, the SEC released the conference opponents Oklahoma will face this season. Coming to the Lloyd Noble Center this season will be three of the best programs in the sport in South Carolina, Tennessee, and LSU. Those three schools have combined for 12 national titles. Tennessee is one of the blue-bloods of the sport. South Carolina has been on a dominant run under Dawn Staley. The Gamecocks have won three national championships since 2017, most recently in 2024. LSU earned its first national title in 2023 under Kim Mulkey.
Also coming to Norman for the 2025-2026 basketball season are Arkansas, Florida, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State.
This season, the Sooners will go on the road to face Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Vanderbilt, and the Texas Longhorns. Unfortunately, the Sooners will only face the Longhorns once in 2025-2026, as SEC schedule makers have opted to give the Red River Rivals other home-and-home matchups.
Oklahoma's only home and home matchup this season comes against the Texas A&M Aggies. Last year the Sooners beat the Aggies 77-62, led by 16 points from Raegan Beers. Texas will take on the LSU Tigers in a home and home next year.
The 2025-2026 season marks the arrival of the No. 1 player in the country for the 2025 recruiting class, Aaliyah Chavez. She'll join a roster full of experience with Beers, Peyton Verhulst, Sahara Williams, and Zya Vann.

Michigan State is shaping up to once again be a preseason top five team and should again be in contention for the national championship in 2026. Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia took a shot at the Big Ten during a recent interview on the "Bussin' With The Boys" podcast -- essentially saying the Big Ten is not as hard of a league on a weekly basis as the SEC. Here's a snippet quote pulled from On3 of the recent interview that certainly will cause a reaction from anyone who supports a Big Ten school: "You want to play with the best – you don't want to play with the Big Ten. … You ignore those calls. ... The SEC, it's like week after week. You're going to get beat on. The Big Ten, you're not gonna get beat on with the Purdue, Nebraskas.' Pavia has played one season in the SEC after transferring to Vanderbilt following two years at New Mexico State. He is entering his final year of eligibility with the Commodores this upcoming season. The quote from Pavia isn't the worst thing ever said about either of these two leagues, but it certainly will further fuel the rivalry between the Big Ten and SEC. The most insulting part here is probably towards Nebraska as the Cornhuskers were lumped into the same category as Purdue -- who is coming off a season that included zero FBS victories. The one thing that is somewhat ironic in Pavia's comment is that he plays for the "Purdue, Nebraskas" he is referencing at Vanderbilt. The Commodores have historically been a bottom feeder in the SEC, and while they are much improved recently, I'm not sure they'd fend any better playing against a Big Ten schedule if we are being honest. Regardless, offseason chatter like this is always fun for fans and personally just gets me more and more fired up for the upcoming college football season. It'll be here before we know it... Latest ESPN NBA Mock Draft has Jase Richardson landing just outside lottery The NBA Draft is just over a week away so where will Michigan State star Jase Richardson land? ESPN's latest mock draft suggests it'll be just outside of the lottery. ESPN released an updated NBA Mock Draft on Tuesday, which pegged Richardson to be selected just outside of the lottery. This latest mock draft from ESPN has Richardson going No. 16 overall to the Memphis Grizzlies -- who just acquired this pick from the Orlando Magic in a trade. Jonathan Givony had this to say about Richardson and the Grizzlies pairing: "The Grizzlies are exactly the type of team that could be interested in an ultra-efficient, productive young prospect such as Richardson, who rates highly in draft models that analytics-savvy teams like Memphis often pay attention to. "Richardson possesses an excellent feel for the game, hit 41% of his 3-pointers this season, brings strong defensive intensity and looks adept at playing off the star power of a teammate like Ja Morant, whose future in Memphis is to be determined. As Richardson's shot-creation diversity and offensive aggressiveness evolve, he could be someone who eventually inherits more significant ballhandling responsibilities, if the Grizzlies decide to pivot toward a youth movement." Richardson has widely been considered a fringe-lottery pick after starring for the Spartans in his lone season in college. He averaged 12.1 points per game and shot above 40% from three-point range, which quickly turned him into an NBA first round projection. The NBA Draft will be held on June 25 and 26, with the first round taking place on Wednesday and second round on Thursday. The draft will be televised on ABC and ESPN.
