We are prioritising green power sector, Telangana aims for 20,000 MW by 2030: Bhatti
Speaking to reporters after visiting the Greenko Integrated Power Project at Pinnapuram village in Orvakal mandal of Kurnool district in the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, he highlighted Telangana's vision for renewable energy.
'MoUs worth `1 lakh crore have already been signed for green power generation in Telangana,' he said and added that the Telangana government has introduced the New Energy Policy, which is aimed at achieving 20,000 MW of green power by 2029–30.
The deputy CM further explained that with the increasing power demand across the country, the Telangana government is exploring various avenues to enhance power generation and move towards surplus electricity.
'Every product in the world requires electricity. To increase production, electricity supply must be abundant. If production increases, employment and the state's GDP will grow. It's a continuous cycle,' he said.
Vikramarka pointed out that electricity consumption is rising across India, and if power is generated solely through coal, it would increase costs and pollution, impacting the environment. Hence, the world is rapidly shifting towards green power, he emphasised.
He said that countries around the world are encouraging electricity generation through diverse methods like solar, wind, thermal, pumped storage, floating solar and hydrogen power. He also explained how solar power generated during the day is stored and later used during peak hours at night via pumped storage systems.
The deputy CM praised Greenko Power for starting electricity production on schedule and noted that the company is producing electricity from solar, wind, and pumped storage at a single location spread across 4,000 acres — the first of its kind in the world.

HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday said that the state government has decided to develop 13,137 km of roads — 7,947 km under Panchayat Raj department and 5,190 km under R&B department in 17 packages. The government will soon call for tenders for these road projects and start the works at the earliest, he added. The deputy CM was speaking at the 'Telangana Road Development Programme Roadshow Hybrid Annuity Model' meeting organised jointly by Panchayat Raj and R&B departments at HICC in Hyderabad to financially encourage contractors and bankers. Roads & Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Panchayat Raj Minister Dansari Anasuya alias Seethakka also attended the meeting. Stating that the state government was aware of the problems being faced by the contractors, Vikramarka explained: 'The previous government had entered into several agreements for development works worth `1.75 lakh crore and it also issued tokens for works worth `45,000 crore. However, it failed to clear those dues, leaving behind a financial burden on the present government.' 'With the chief minister, ministers, and government secretaries focusing on resolving this matter, the financial situation is gradually improving and the government is working to overcome the difficulties faced by contractors,' he added. The deputy CM said that the Congress government considers contractors, industrialists and investors as partners in wealth creation. 'In view of the growing traffic problems, there is a need to upgrade some roads into four-lane roads,' he said and instructed the officials to prepare the list of roads that need attention at the earliest and place it before the state Cabinet for approval. He said that the government will contribute 40 per cent of funds for HAM roads and is in the process of mobilising necessary resources. Small contractors will be given opportunities in HAM road works, he asserted.

Govt. to develop around 13,000 km road network, says Deputy CM
The State government has embarked upon an ambitious programme for development of around 13,000 km road network across the State. It is proposed to develop 7,947 km roads through 17 packages under the Panchayat Raj department and the development through Roads and Buildings department will account for another 5,190 km in equal number of packages. The government is in the process of calling for tenders for the proposed road works approved by the State Cabinet so that works can be started at the earliest, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said. The Deputy Chief Minister stressed the need for contractors to become partners in Telangana Rising and the government was firm on providing opportunities to small contractors too. A meeting with bankers has been arranged shortly to financially encourage contractors. Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka was speaking at a meeting convened on HAM (Hybrid Annuity Model) roads here on Tuesday. He lamented that the BRS government left behind arrears of ₹45,000 crore pertaining to development works as legacy to the present government. The State government was focussing not only on welfare programmes but also on advancing infrastructure, industries, education and healthcare sectors as part of Telangana Rising. He acknowledged that the government was aware of the contractors' problems recalling that the previous dispensation entered into agreements for development works worth ₹1.75 lakh crore. It had however issued tokens for works estimated to cost ₹45,000 crore but failed to clear dues leaving behind financial burden on the present government. The situation was gradually improving as Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Ministers and senior officials were focussing on the matter and as part of it, steps had been initiated to ensure that contractors overcame their difficulties. The government considered contractors, industrialists and investors as partners in wealth creation and was working with a humanitarian approach. ₹1 lakh assistance provided to 178 Civil Services aspirants from Telangana preparing for UPSC Mains exam 2025
Aspirants from Telangana who cleared Civil Services Examination (Preliminary) 2025 held by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and preparing for the Main examination, were provided with ₹1 lakh financial assistance under Rajiv Gandhi Civils Abhaya Hastham launched by the State government. On Monday (August 11, 2025), 178 aspirants were handed over the cheques at a programme held in Hyderabad. Government run Singareni Collieries Coal Limited (SCCL) provided the assistance, from its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund. Besides this, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that candidates who clear the Mains exam and prepare for the Interview round too would be provided with ₹1 lakh assistance. The scheme was launched in 2024. Of the 140 people provided with the assistance last year, 10 were selected for All India Services (AIS). They were honoured on the occasion. Backward Classes (BC) Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, SCCL chairman and managing director N. Balram and others were present on the occasion.
