Let's put these vets and new threats to test – The Challenge season 41 cast unveiled

Express Tribune18-06-2025
MTV's long-running reality competition series The Challenge returns this summer with its 41st season, titled Vets and New Threats. The new season will premiere on Wednesday, July 30 at 8 p.m. ET, and will be available globally in over 165 countries in the months following, according to MTV.
The upcoming installment promises a shake-up in the competition format, launching what the network describes as a 'new era' marked by heightened unpredictability and strategic uncertainty. This season's cast includes eight returning champions—Cara Maria Sorbello, Derrick Kosinski, Aviv Melmed, Ashley Mitchell, Rogan O'Connor, CT Tamburello, Johnny 'Bananas' Devenanzio, and Turbo—who will face off against a new roster of reality TV alumni.
Dubbed the 'New Threats,' the group includes contestants from a wide array of shows including Big Brother, Survivor, Love Island, Too Hot to Handle, Are You the One?, The Amazing Race, Married at First Sight UK, Canada's Ultimate Challenge, and Cheer. Among the notable additions are a professional boxer and a former WWE superstar, adding even more diversity to the competition.
According to the official logline, the season will explore the collapse of long-established alliances and the difficulty of relying on past experience. Players—both veterans and newcomers—must navigate an ever-evolving landscape of shifting loyalties, betrayals, and strategic uncertainty.
To introduce the cast, The Challenge: Vets and New Threats: Day Zero, a launch special, will air on July 23 at 8 p.m. ET on MTV and will also be available via MTV.com, VOD platforms, and the show's official YouTube channel. A companion podcast will also return, with new episodes dropping every Thursday.
The season is produced by Bunim/Murray Productions, with Julie Pizzi, Justin Booth, and Jacob Lane as executive producers.

Jeff Probst explains Mike White's return for Survivor 50 and addresses White Lotus cameo speculation

Jeff Probst has explained why The White Lotus creator Mike White is returning for the 50th season of Survivor. The host and executive producer admitted he anticipated attention around White's casting, but was still 'a little surprised' at the reaction when CBS announced the line-up. Probst told The Hollywood Reporter that White's return is notable because 'there is no hiding that he is the biggest writer, director, show creator in the world right now, and he wanted to come back and play Survivor.' He believes the interest lies in White's study of human behaviour, which influences his television work. White first competed in season 37, David vs. Goliath, in 2018, finishing as runner-up before The White Lotus premiered. For season 50, airing spring 2026, he will face other returning players, including former winners and fellow second-place finishers. Probst said White wanted to test how success in Hollywood might affect his gameplay, asking, 'Now that everybody is more aware of me… how will I fare?' The host expects it will be 'fun' to watch how other contestants interact with him, given his track record of inviting past players to cameo in The White Lotus. Asked if he would appear in White's HBO series, Probst declined, saying, 'No, Mike should never put me on White Lotus,' though he praised White's generosity in offering Survivor alumni the opportunity to visit and appear on set. White has previously joked that Probst would avoid casting him again after seeing him reach the finals. Probst said White's persistence and public campaign ultimately led to his return, adding that he is 'so grateful' to have him back. 'He's arguably the single best storyteller we've ever had on Survivor,' Probst said, calling White 'authentic' and 'one of the best of all time.'

Ozzy Osbourne's final chapter revealed in BBC's emotional documentary ‘Coming Home'

Ozzy Osbourne's extraordinary life is set to be honoured in a moving new BBC documentary, Coming Home, capturing the heavy metal icon's final years with rare intimacy. The film, which has been years in the making, follows Ozzy's journey from global stardom back to his roots, culminating in his last-ever performance in Birmingham. Originally developed as Home to Roost in 2022, the series was conceived as a spiritual follow-up to MTV's chaotic mid-2000s hit The Osbournes. However, following Ozzy's passing, the project was reimagined into a more poignant documentary chronicling his return to the UK and his farewell to fans. Filmed over three years, Coming Home features contributions from Sharon Osbourne and their children Jack and Kelly, offering an emotional, behind-the-scenes look at the family's final chapter together. The film concludes with Ozzy's astonishing final concert in Birmingham, where he reunited with Black Sabbath just two weeks before his death. It was a performance many thought impossible given his health struggles, but it became a triumphant goodbye in the city where it all began. Clare Sillery, BBC Head of Commissioning for Documentaries, described the film as 'an intimate glimpse' into the Osbourne family's private world. She added, 'We are honoured to have had the opportunity to film with Ozzy and his family. The film features family moments, humour, reflection and shows the enduring spirit that made Ozzy a global icon. We hope it brings comfort and joy to Ozzy's fans and viewers as they remember and celebrate his extraordinary life.' Coming Home is produced by Expectation, the company behind Clarkson's Farm, alongside JOKS Productions. It promises to be a raw and heartfelt portrait of a man who defied expectations until the very end.

WWE ESPN deal explained: How much will it now cost to stream WWE PLEs in US starting from 2026?

ESPN and WWE announced a landmark deal on Wednesday, granting ESPN exclusive US rights to stream all WWE Premium Live Events (PLEs) starting in 2026. The agreement is a significant development for The Walt Disney Company, ESPN's parent company, and was announced through a press release. The media giant continues to expand its digital content offerings. Under the terms of the deal, WWE's marquee events, including WrestleMania, SummerSlam, the Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, and Money in the Bank, will be streamed live through ESPN's direct-to-consumer (DTC) service. Select events will also be simulcast on ESPN's linear platforms. ESPN also announced it would launch the new direct-to-consumer streaming service on August 21, priced at $29.99 per month, as reported by Variety. "WWE has an immense, devoted and passionate fanbase that we're excited to super-serve on our new ESPN DTC platform," said Jimmy Pitaro, Chairman of ESPN. The streaming service will not only feature the live events but also pre- and post-event shows to enhance the viewing experience. "WWE's agreement with ESPN is a pivotal moment for our millions of fans across the United States: the leader in sports entertainment partnering with the biggest brand in sports media," said Nick Khan, President of WWE. As ESPN continues to ramp up its DTC offerings, this partnership will solidify its position in the competitive sports streaming market. The deal is part of a broader strategy as ESPN prepares to launch a comprehensive streaming platform, bringing its suite of networks and services directly to consumers. The deal also aligns with Disney's ongoing efforts to strengthen its streaming portfolio.
