American woman living in UK mortified to learn popular slang is actually 'dirty'

An American woman who has lived in London for two and a half years shared the three 'spicy' things you should never say to a Brit, or you may get some funny looks Slang across the pond is a little different – and when one woman shared one 'dirty' in the UK phrase, Brits were left spitting out their drinks at the true meaning. Devin, who posts on TikTok as @devinguccii, said that she "learned all of these the hard way". So in a bid to stop other Americans falling into the same awkward situations, she urged them to be careful about the phrases they were using. California girl Devin, who has been in London for the last two and a half years, shared the three phrases you should avoid at all costs. ‌ "These are three American words I've discovered you should not be using in the UK, and what to use instead," she began the video by explaining. She then listed the following... ‌ 1. Pants She said she'd start off "with the most PG one," which is "pants". Devin explained: "In the US, it's a more general word for trousers, so it can be used in terms of tracksuit bottoms, jeans, slacks, khakis, anything that's a long version of a trouser. "But in the UK, it generally refers to men's boxers, so if you say 'Oh, I like your pants,' they'll take that as you can see my underwear, and you like my underwear". This is the case for most Southerners, but in Northern areas of the UK it isn't uncommon to hear the word 'pants' used in a similar context to America. 2. Fanny pack Devin joked that this one is a "little bit spicier". In America, they call a bum bag a fanny pack. But of course, in the UK, a 'fanny' is slang for women's genitals. However, now bum bags are "more popular" in the UK, you can usually also get away with calling it a fanny pack if you want to. ‌ 3. 'Double fisting' Devin found out this was inappropriate through "trial and error". In America, 'double fisting' means having two drinks at the same time. But awkwardly, it means "something way dirtier in the UK". She said that this is "not a term that they use in the UK," so it's best to avoid, but instead, you can use "double parked". People were very amused by Devin's blunders and took to the comments section to leave their thoughts. Someone joked: "You cannot get away with fanny pack anywhere in the UK or Ireland, people still go ffs in their minds even if you don't actually get a weird look off them". Another penned: "Yeah, definitely don't say the last one, just say you've got your hands full". Meanwhile, a third social media user pointed out that pants can also refer to something being "rubbish or no good". It really is a minefield!

US will take part in Putin's knock-off Eurovision song contest, Russia says… competing against Iran and China

Mad Vlad's mouthpiece media made the bizarre claim that Americans would sing in the Intervision 2025 Song Contest, Russia's bootleg version of the iconic competition. Putin's country was booted out of the official Eurovision Song Contest following his bloody invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Propaganda outlet Tass claimed "sources" had told them that "representatives from the United States" would take part in the knock-off event. Their so-called source said: "Indeed, the United States has confirmed its participation in the Intervision. They gave no further details on American involvement in the competition. Earlier this year, Putin signed a decree for the Intervision Song Contest to be held in Moscow in September 2025. More than 25 of his ally countries are set to join his contest - including North Korea, Iran, Cuba, and Venezuela. Mad Vlad has already said his bizarre idea has been backed by his "Chinese friends". This sad attempt at recreating Eurovision will reportedly ban LGBT performers. Putin's Ukraine war toll tops 1 MILLION Russians dead & wounded 40 months into 'days-long operation'…with no end in sight, with Stephen Hall In Russia, rules now ban anything deemed to promote homosexuality, and the international LGBTQ movement is seen as an extremist organisation. Putin's move has been seen as an attempt to revive two similar flopped music contests from the Soviet era. Communist Russia tried to set up a competition also called Intervision in the 1960s. This was also aimed to bring together its allies in Eastern Europe and across the world, like Cuba. Intervision ran between 1965 and 1968, and later between 1977 and 1980. It is unclear if it will use its bizarre communist-era voting system when TV viewers turned their lights on or off to cast votes, with the results measured by electricity consumption. The 2025 version of the competition will reportedly showcase "traditional universal, spiritual and family values". This would be a sharp contrast to the flamboyance, art, and colour brought through Eurovision - like it's 2024 winner Nemo from Switzerland. 6 Putin's media said that Americans will compete in the contest Credit: AP 6 The Intervision Song Contest was the Eastern Bloc's version of Eurovision Credit: East2West 6 Russia was banned from Eurovision in 2022 after Putin invaded Ukraine Credit: Alamy It is believed that Putin wants to relaunch the competition to separate Russia from what he says is the West's continued lack of respect for religious values and moral attitudes. A Russian planning document said: "Artists may not perform songs that call for violence, humiliate the honour and dignity of society, and it is required that political themes in the lyrics are completely excluded." Intervision will also aim to be 'developing international cultural and humanitarian cooperation', according to his presidential decree. This decree also claimed "the contest will be open for participation of all countries that wish to do so". Intervision is reportedly set to give performers four minutes on stage to sing in whatever language they like, according to documents seen by Reuters. The winner will get prize money and go on tour. It is not known if Putin will seek to sing at the contest, as he famously did in 2010, performing Blueberry Hill at a live charity event in St Petersburg. The dictator's rendition went viral, as he sang in front of guests including Hollywood stars like Goldie Hawn, Kevin Costner, and Sharon Stone. Putin previously announced he wanted to stage the World Festival of Friendship in 2024 as an alternative to the Olympics - which Russia has also been excluded from. The tyrant postponed the competition by one year - and then indefinitely in a humiliating U-turn. The country has taken part in Eurovision 23 times since 1994. Russia was banned from Eurovision in 2022 after Putin sent tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine. The same year that Putin annexed Crimea from Ukraine, an Austrian drag queen popularly known as "the bearded lady," won Eurovision in 2014. This is thought to have been a turning point in Putin's desire to fully separate his country from Western values.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer is only 12 bouts into his professional career but already has the sport's elite queuing up to earn a payday off him. And ranking the trio, Paul said: "Zurdo and Jai are probably tied for No1 and I would say Badou is No2. "But all formidable opponents and we're in conversations with Zurdo and also Badou as potential fights for next year." Paul was probed on why he is not interested in talks for a fight with Australia's IBF champion and pound-for-pound star Opetaia. He said: "No, there is. But look, I'm like Megan Fox from the Transformers movie - everyone wants me! "So there's not enough time to do it all and it could make sense. Look, it might. "It might line up but at the end of the day, there's 100 people that want to fight me." It comes after mega-fights against Gervonta Davis, 30, and Canelo Alvarez, 34, collapsed but the world champs make Paul's seven-man shortlist of opponents. He said: "I got Canelo, Gervonta, Anthony Joshua, Badou, Zurdo, Tommy Fury, KSI, the list keeps on going. "So it's just about what makes sense and we'll see." Paul's last fight was as controversial as it was commercially successful. He beat Mike Tyson - returning aged 58 after 20 YEARS retired - over eight rounds with over 100 MILLION watching on Netflix. But it also came at the cost of Paul bulking up to 227lb (16st 2lb) from his usual 14st 4lb cruiserweight fighting limit of 200lb. And Paul admitted: "It was brutal, and I won't do that again most likely. It was just too much and my body wasn't made for it. "And even when I got into the ring, I just felt too fat. So cruiserweight is definitely the perfect weight for me."
