The patriotic stand taken by the players found backing from one of the tournament's major sponsors, EaseMyTrip. The company released a statement saying it would no longer support any fixture involving the Pakistan team in the WCL, despite being under a long-term sponsorship contract. The company emphasized that national sentiment outweighs commercial interest.
WCL Organizers Issue Apology
Faced with growing pressure and unable to assemble a complete Indian squad for the marquee encounter, the WCL 2025 organizers made the call to cancel the India–Pakistan game. A formal statement expressed regret over any emotional distress caused, adding that the remaining tournament fixtures would proceed as scheduled.
'We understand and deeply respect the emotions involved. Our goal was never to hurt public sentiment. WCL will continue, but we will not go forward with this particular match,' read the official announcement.

'Bits-and-pieces cricketers, I don't think, will ever win you games abroad. Even Jadeja could not pick wickets in the first two Tests with the rough. Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has backed England batting heavyweight Joe Root to give a serious tussle to Sachin Tendulkar's unrivalled Test legacy of 15,921 runs after a shock stat reveal during the India vs England 4th Test in Old Trafford on Thursday. Unbeaten on 11 on Day 2, Root is closing in on the second spot in the Test run-getters list and could overtake batting legends Jacques Kallis (12,289) and Rahul Dravid (12,288) with another 20 runs. Only Ricky Ponting stands between Root and Tendulkar then, having aggregated 13,378 in 167 Tests for Australia. Noticing that Root could spring up to the second spot quickly, Shastri said that the 34-year-old Root has age on his side to cross Tendulkar and even rack up another 3000 Test runs.
