Sai Kishore enjoys dream English County debut with Surrey
R Sai Kishore (r) picked 11 wickets in two matches. Photo credit: Surrey CHENNAI: R Sai Kishore had a short and sweet stint representing Surrey in English County Championship Division I. Despite having little time to bed in, the Tamil Nadu left-arm spinner gave a good account of himself in the two matches that he featured in. The 28-year-old Sai Kishore began his debut County campaign with a four-wicket match haul in the draw against Yorkshire in Scarborough. The slow bowler then produced a match-influencing show of seven scalps, including a five-wicket burst in the second innings, to propel Surrey to a five-wicket victory over Durham in Chester-le-Street. Brimming with optimism after a productive spell away from home, Sai Kishore believes that he has it in him to deliver on all kinds of surfaces. 'I have a lot of belief in my red-ball game. Winning a match in foreign conditions and doing it with a team which I was not familiar with, gives me a lot of confidence,' Sai Kishore, who has represented India only in T20Is (three matches), told TOI from England on Friday. I now feel that I had not deceived myself,' added Sai Kishore, the Tamil Nadu red-ball captain. His leadership quality and extensive preparation with coach R Ramkumar in Chennai allowed Sai Kishore to swiftly adapt to English County. 'I see myself as a leader wherever I go. Whenever I had interactions with the coach (Gareth Batty) and captain (Rory Burns), I discussed how we could take the game forward. It was not just about me picking wickets. The captain and coach handled me well; they used me well, that is why I was able to deliver my best. Overall, I am very happy,' said Sai Kishore. 'Before going to England, I worked with Ramkumar anna and refined my action. After playing a lot of T20 cricket in the last few months, my action was spoilt a bit, so I had to tweak it. Besides that, Batty's (a former spinner) inputs came in handy.' Captain all praise for spinner Surrey skipper Burns was effusive in his praise of Sai Kishore, saying that the left-arm spinner was an invaluable addition to the squad. 'When you have someone with that quality who can do what he is asked to any time, it is pretty impressive. The ability Sai has, to control one end on a surface like that, is outstanding. He is a fantastic bloke around the group; he has great energy,' Burns said after Surrey comprehensively defeated Durham.

London/New Delhi: Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah was on Friday released from the national squad after completing his quota of three Tests in the five-match series against England and stakeholders in Indian cricket have already started discussing his next international assignment. However at Manchester, Bumrah conceded more than 100 runs in a single innings for the first time in his career. Live Events Bumrah now has 219 wickets in 48 Tests. Prior to India's departure, chairman of selection committee Ajit Agarkar had confirmed that the pace ace won't play more than three Tests keeping his workload management in mind. Which format will Bumrah feature next? India's next international assignment is Asia Cup T20 tournament and it would be a surprise if Bumrah opts to play the tournament considering that the next Test series against West Indies will start in less than a week's time after the event in the UAE. The Asia Cup will conclude on September 29 and the first Test against the West Indies will start in Ahmedabad on October 2 followed by the second match in New Delhi from October 10-14 . Then in November there are two Tests against South Africa. "It will be a tricky call but Bumrah loves Test cricket and there are World Test Championship points at stake. As far as T20 is concerned, he can play the series against New Zealand in January, which will be a dress rehearsal for the T20 World Cup," a BCCI source abreast with Indian selection process told PTI on conditions of anonymity. "If Bumrah plays Asia Cup and suppose India plays the final, no way can he play against West Indies at Ahmedabad. Obviously the question arises, do you need Bumrah against West Indies or he plays Asia Cup after a month's break and plays the two Tests against South Africa. That call, Ajit Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir will have to take," the source added. Bumrah is not expected to play many ODIs till the T20 World Cup at home.

US Presidential Fitness Test: Who are the 30 athletes backing Trump's school fitness campaign?
Image credits: X On Thursday, the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, reestablished the Presidential Fitness Test for American children. The test, which was a fixture in public schools for decades, analysed the youth's health and athleticism through 1-mile runs, sit-ups and stretching exercises. 'This is a wonderful tradition, and we're bringing it back,' said the POTUS about the fitness test that was started in 1966 but was phased out during the Obama administration. 'President Trump wants every young American to have the opportunity to emphasize healthy, active lifestyles — creating a culture of strength and excellence for years to come,' White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told CNN in a statement. Along with the test, the executive order signed by him also reinvigorated a national sports council that he stocked with current and former athletes and other prominent figures from the athletic world. Supporting him in his decision were athletes present at the event, who will also be formal members of the council: Bryson DeChambeau, golfer at LIV Golf League Harrison Butker, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Lawrence Taylor, Former New York Giants linebacker Cody Campbell, former college football player Paul Levesque, 14-time World Champion Annika Sorenstam, Swedish professional golfer Stephen Soloway, New Jersey physician Jack Nicklaus, retired golfer Gary Player, retired golfer Tony Romo, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles running back Wayne Gretzky, hockey legend Roger Goodell, commissioner of the National Football League Other members of the 30-member council are yet to be declared, and according to Trump, this council will also develop criteria for the Presidential Fitness Award. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Emergency Generators in Dire Dawa: (Prices May Surprise You) Emergency Generator | Search Ads Search Now Undo The fitness test was first introduced by President Lyndon B.
