Welsh coastal holiday hotspot dubbed a 'hotbed of culinary wizardry' by The Financial Times

One Welsh county has been celebrated for its abundance of delicious food venues by leading newspaper, The Financial Times. Ceredigion was hailed a 'hotbed of culinary wizardry' by the newspaper after they visited the county in west Wales, finding a mix of local food and drink hotspots.
The account highlighted the plethora of top class options available in the county as well as the dining scene in and around Cardigan town, including bakeries Crwst and Bara Menyn, the Brat supperclub at Ffrorest Ffarm, Caws Teifi and also Llys Meddyg, just over the border in Newport, Pembrokeshire.
Attributing the Michelin-starred Brat resdidency at Fforest to the quality of local produce, farmers, fishermen and growers that exists in this part of Wales,' writer Ajesh Patalay says: ""Parry's residence is testament to the quality of local produce, farmers, fishermen and growers that exists in this part of Wales.
"It also speaks to the vibrant dining scene that's grown up in and around Cardigan over recent years."
Hailing from Anglesey, founder of Brat, Tomos Parry, served up cockles and laverbread, sweetbreads and leeks at Fforest farm in Cardigan earlier this year, and he'he's back for the Brat x Mountain x Fforest supper club in September. His London restaurant, Brat, that was once named amongst the world's 100 best restaurants and he's also behind Soho venue, Mountain.
Cardigan is also home to an award-winning café and popular brunch spot, Crwst, that has been open since 2018.

Crwst, founded by husband and wife Osian and Catrin Jones, serves fresh baked goods as well as signature dishes including their seaweed hash browns.
The café serves a wide selection of fresh doughnuts made at an offsite bakery on Bath House Road in the heart of Cardigan.
Nearby is Bara Menyn, opened by Aberystwyth-born writer Jack Smylie Wild with his family ten years ago. He told The FT: 'When we opened Bara Menyn in 2015, people thought we were crazy: 'You can't open a sourdough bakery in Cardigan: they do good bread in Aldi.' Now people drive all the way from Aberystwyth.'
The café is still serving fresh baked goods after a decade of the Ceredigion native opened the location a decade ago.
Also praised in the piece were Pizza Tipi, Michelin and Good Food Guide beloved, Yr Hen Printworks and Templebar Cafe and Farmshop in Nevern.

Arts Council of Wales and British Council renew partnership
British Council Wales, Arts Council of Wales, and Wales Arts International have signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen Wales' global cultural connections and promote Welsh creativity worldwide. Record number of Welsh nominees at Into Film Awards 2025
Wales has received seven nominations across 11 categories for the 2025 awards, the highest of any Celtic nation, with nominees from Cardiff, Conwy, Gwynedd, Merthyr Tydfil, and Swansea. The nominees will attend the ceremony in London's Leicester Square on June 24. Jack Sargeant, Welsh minister for culture, said: "Wales is showing itself to be a powerhouse of young creative talent, as can clearly be seen by the record-breaking number of Welsh nominees this year." The Into Film Awards celebrate the creativity of young people in film and are supported by the UK film industry. This year's nominations highlight the growing strength of Wales' film sector, following the recent success of productions like Netflix's Havoc and Mr Burton. The nominated films reflect a wide range of perspectives and experiences. Animated Voices, made by young people from ethnic minority backgrounds in Cardiff, explores their lives in the UK, while Mariupol tells the story of the war in Ukraine through the eyes of a displaced individual. Non Stevens, head of Into Film Cymru, said: "We're thrilled to see diverse young Welsh voices achieving record-breaking recognition at this year's Into Film Awards. "From Penygroes to Cardiff, from animation to documentary, these young creators are telling authentic stories with exceptional creativity and technical skill. Me being with him, saying goodbye, going to Stoke and looking out of a window at his flat whilst stood alongside his former driver? 'We both needed a stiff drink that night. They reckon Eric's heart must have stopped before he hit the ground as there was no blood. 'In his diary, apparently, he'd written he had got bad chest pains. "Bloody hell, if that was the case, why didn't he go to the doctors or hospital and get it sorted? 'Knowing Eric, he probably thought, 'I'll put loads of Guinness down my neck, that'll get rid of the pain'. 'Anyone who knew him was aware that he didn't exactly lead a healthy lifestyle. I had known him since he was a teenager — and he never changed." Bobby George on Eric Bristow 'For as long as I'd known him, he was a heavy smoker, always rolling his own. 'And he would think nothing of getting through 15 or 16 pints of Guinness in a day, rounding it all off with a curry. Nobody's body can handle that day in, day out. 'Always on the go, working and travelling, meant he was always pushing it. "Although it wasn't work to him, just a chance to get on the p*** every day. 'I like a drink and a smoke but there are extremes and Eric pushed them to the limit. 'I'd say, 'You smoke and you drink too much'. He said, 'I know all about that, Bob. But put it this way, no one is going to be pushing me around in a wheelchair. When I go, I'll go like that. Bang'. And he f***ing did as well, bang.' As they toured the country, they 'would share prize money', but there were times when George thought 'we're going to get our heads kicked in' due to Bristow's OTT antics. On a US tour in 1978, the first time George went on a plane, Bristow enraged locals by pretending 'to wipe his a***' with the American Stars and Stripes flag 'before chucking it on the floor'. George said: 'The atmosphere had turned really toxic and I was worried that someone was going to do something really stupid, like pull a gun out on him. ''Watch yourself, Eric,' I whispered in his ear. 'These guys aren't messing about and they have guns over here!' 'I'd like to say that was an isolated incident but it wasn't.
