Record number of Welsh nominees at Into Film Awards 2025
The nominees will attend the ceremony in London's Leicester Square on June 24.
Jack Sargeant, Welsh minister for culture, said: "Wales is showing itself to be a powerhouse of young creative talent, as can clearly be seen by the record-breaking number of Welsh nominees this year."
The Into Film Awards celebrate the creativity of young people in film and are supported by the UK film industry.
This year's nominations highlight the growing strength of Wales' film sector, following the recent success of productions like Netflix's Havoc and Mr Burton.
The nominated films reflect a wide range of perspectives and experiences.
Animated Voices, made by young people from ethnic minority backgrounds in Cardiff, explores their lives in the UK, while Mariupol tells the story of the war in Ukraine through the eyes of a displaced individual.
Non Stevens, head of Into Film Cymru, said: "We're thrilled to see diverse young Welsh voices achieving record-breaking recognition at this year's Into Film Awards.
"From Penygroes to Cardiff, from animation to documentary, these young creators are telling authentic stories with exceptional creativity and technical skill.
"The record number of nominations this year not only reflects growing confidence and talent but also shows how film education can inspire the next generation of Welsh storytellers."

The mum-of-five, who creates TikToks under the name Big Olly Ching Ching, said she was dared by followers to don the marital getup at the game. So she drove herself from her home in Glasgow's Castlemilk and was helped by a pal to get to the stadium for the Hoops clash against St Mirren. Laura told The Scottish Sun: 'I was supposed to get married a while back ago and we'd arranged a big wedding and everything. 'I bought the dress, the rings, the lot and I was with him but I ended up calling the wedding off. 'So I was left with the wedding dress and the venue and everything all paid for, that I paid for, mind you. And my TikTok followers dared me to wear my wedding dress today and make out that I was getting married.' After taking her seat in the Lisbon Lions stand she ended up with a spectacular reception from her fellow fans. She was constantly being asked for photos and laughs as she told fans she had left her man waiting at the altar. One bold Hoops fan even joked about marrying her on the spot. Laura added: 'It was absolutely amazing, people were running up, people were taking selfies with me, people were saying congratulations, people were laughing. It was crazy, absolutely crazy. 'It was actually quite a lot. Somebody did say to me, oh that's a shame, I'll marry you just now.' But Laura ended up having to leave before she could see her team's 1-0 win because her dress had caused some issues. She said her wedding dress wasn't the best for sitting in the Sunday sun or going to the football. The heat became such an issue she had to leave at half time, but still reckons it was worth it. The mum said: 'A few times I nearly went flat on my face. It was very difficult and I was roasting, I was roasting hot sitting there watching the game. 'I had to leave at half-time. I wish I'd stayed, but I was just too warm. 'I was melting because it was a very, very heavy dress but it was worth it to do that. I enjoyed it. 'I drove my car in the wedding dress and then I walked it through the streets. 'It was actually crazy, I could barely see over the steering wheel. 'It took me about an hour and a half to get through a couple of streets to the actual stadium. And then I struggled to get away as well. 'I was just happy to get to a game. I've been a Celtic fan my whole life but as a single mum with five kids I can't afford to take them all.' But she says the whole thing was worth it to see her team play and come away with a good story to tell.

Aki, who featured in all three Tests for the British and Irish Lions here in Australia, was on the bench for the first Test in Brisbane. However, following the third Test defeat in Sydney, Aki revealed that he recently welcomed a fifth child - although he's yet to see his newest daughter. "I want to enjoy my break, my family time," said the 35-year-old as he reflected on the end of a long Lions tour. "I haven't seen my family for eight weeks. "I have a new-born child who I haven't met yet. She was born when we were playing in Brisbane, so I haven't met her. "Her name is Aine, so I'm looking forward to going and meeting my new-born child and we'll go from there." Aki and his wife have a simple theme when it comes to naming their children, with Aine joining Armani-Jade, Adrianna, Andronicus and Ailbhe. Article continues below "All my kids start with A," he added. "So my wife loved the name Aine. That's five As in the family." When asked if it had been difficult not seeing his new-born daughter and the rest of his family, Aki ultimately told the remarkable story of how his wife gave birth in New Zealand on the same day he was facing the Wallabies. "Five minutes later, she sends a photo, her water broke. I was like, 'Cool, OK, are you almost there?' This is like 30 or 40 minutes away from the hospital, so I said, 'You'll be all right, Mum is there.' "Ten minutes later, she video calls me and I was like, 'S**t, what's going on?' I saw a baby on the video call, so she had it in the car on the way to the hospital. They're both strong and healthy, so happy days. "In New Zealand, yeah. So happy days." Hollywood star issues sweet message as Welsh festival begins It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor Rob McElhenney was seen in a short clip practising his Welsh words and phrases Well-known Hollywood actor Rob McElhenney has welcomed the National Eisteddfod 2025 - all in Welsh. The It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor, who is also the co-owner of Wrexham AFC alongside fellow Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds, was seen in a short clip practising his Welsh words and phrases as the cultural festival kickstarts this weekend. The American actor was aided by Maxine Hughes, a Welsh journalist from Conwy who now lives in Washington D.C. The journalist has been helping both McElhenney and Reynolds with learning Welsh since they took over the north Wales club in 2020. At the start of the short clip, Maxine begins: "Ok, let's do: 'Croeso i'r Eisteddfod yn Wrecsam', which I know you can do this because we've done the 'croeso' many times before". Rob then repeats 'Croeso i'r Eisteddfod yn Wrecsam' in near perfect Welsh, but as Maxine points out the 'y' in the word 'yn', which means 'in' in Welsh, has a distinctive sound. "You actually sounded like a proper Welsh person there because you called it 'Steddfod, which is what we call it. That was excellent." The two then go over 'Mae'r Eisteddfod yn dod i Wrecsam', which means that the 'Eisteddfod is coming to Wrexham'. By his second attempt, the comedian and actor has perfect pronunciation of the phrase and seemingly knows it as his smile beams. The sweet clip comes as the National Eisteddfod begins in the Welsh city on Saturday, August 2. The week-long cultural festival will take place at Is-y-Coed in Wrexham, the first time it has been held in the city since 2011. She will address the audience as the leader of Wales and the World during the special event of Cymanfa Ganu (Singing Assembly) at the Eisteddfod on Sunday night, August 3. She will also take part in leading other sessions on the Maes (festival ground) during the week.
