What happened earlier that sparked the dating rumours?
The duo had previously been involved in a controversy a month ago, when G-Dragon made a video during Coldplay's concert in South Korea. The video featured Sana from TWICE on stage at the concert, as the group was a special performer for Coldplay. G-Dragon had shared the video on his stories using his personal social media account, all the while even tagging the female idol. This had managed to spark outrage amongst netizens who judged the BIGBANG singer's actions.
After public scrutiny, the idol even removed the video from his social media account to avoid any more backlash. This had also managed to spark up a lot of debate online about whether the two are dating or not.

Dakota Johnson, Chris Martin Part Ways After Dating For 8 Years: Report
Looks like there's trouble in 'paradise' for Fifty Shades star Dakota Johnson and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, yet again. The couple, who have been in an on-again, off-again relationship for the last eight years, finally have parted ways, reported People magazine. "It feels final this time," an insider told the publication. Representatives for neither Johnson (35) nor Martin (48) have commented on the alleged split. The report comes weeks after they were photographed together in Malibu on May 16. In January, Johnson and Martin made headlines when they arrived in Mumbai for Coldplay's two concerts as part of the Music of the Spheres World Tour. They were also spotted visiting local landmarks like the Siddhivinayak Temple, Shri Babulnath Temple and Marine Drive. After the concerts concluded, the two also went to the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj. Several images of Martin and Johnson taking the holy dip at the Triveni Sangam went viral on social media at the time. The images are out. Breakup Rumours That Surrounded Dakota Johnson, Chris Martin Before ‘Final' Split
Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin had been together for nearly eight years in an on-and-off relationship. Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin have officially called it quits. A news report confirms that the couple, who had been in a relationship since 2017, have now ended their nearly eight-year-long romance. Known for keeping their relationship mostly private, the two had been together in an on-and-off dynamic for several years. As per People, who cited a source close to the couple, the breakup 'feels final this time." Neither Johnson nor Martin has commented publicly on the report. While this is being seen as a final split, the pair has been subject to breakup rumours in the past as well. The Coldplay frontman and the Fifty Shades of Grey actress were first linked in October 2017 after they were spotted dining together at a popular restaurant in Los Angeles. Over the months that followed, Johnson was seen attending Martin's concerts, including a show in Buenos Aires. Eventually, her father, Don Johnson, confirmed the relationship publicly in early 2018. Though they kept most details of their relationship away from the spotlight, Johnson often accompanied Martin during his tours, and the two were frequently seen together. But in 2019, reports claimed they had broken up. Those rumours were dismissed later that year when Martin supported Johnson at a wrap party for her film The High Note. A source later confirmed to E! News that the couple was still going strong. 'They're planning to spend more time together later this summer," the source said at the time. In March 2024, People reported that the couple had actually been engaged 'for years" but were in no hurry to get married. Then in August, breakup rumours surfaced again when a Daily Mail source claimed, 'Chris and Dakota have tried desperately hard over the past few months to make their relationship work. They'll always have love for each other but they've both come to the conclusion the relationship cannot be sustained long-term." 'They're both busy people, Chris has been in Europe with Coldplay and they both have personal priorities, passions, and work commitments which don't naturally intertwine with each other. They wanted it to work but it just hasn't, and they've now accepted it is best to move on," the insider continued. But Johnson's representative shut down the claims saying the two were 'happily together." Around the same time, an insider told People, 'Sure, they've had issues and taken breaks in the past, but things are great now. They both love their careers. They are balancing things the best they can." The last time the pair were seen together publicly was on May 16 in Malibu. Earlier this year, in January, they were also photographed holding hands during Coldplay's tour stop in India. Now, just weeks after their last public appearance, the relationship has reportedly come to an end. Dakota Johnson is next seen in Materialists, releasing in theatres on June 13, where she stars alongside Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. Meanwhile, Chris Martin is currently touring with Coldplay as part of their Music of the Spheres world tour. It is set to conclude in London on September 8 this year. First Published:
