A lucky gambler took home a big jackpot win after playing a slot machine at a Southern California casino.
While the Temecula man visited Pechanga Resort Casino on Wednesday, May 14, he tried 'his luck at a few different slot machines,' the casino said in a May 15 news release.
He then set his sights on a Dragon Link slot machine, the casino said.
On his fifth spin at 11:11 a.m., the gambler played a $25 bet and hit the $1,044,559.11 jackpot, the casino said.
'It took me a second to realize what was actually happening,' the man told casino officials. 'My hands started shaking.'
Even still, his win hasn't quite sunk in.
'I still don't quite believe it to be honest,' the man told the casino. 'This is going to mean a lot for my family.'
The winner told casino officials that after he sets aside some money for his family, he has a family trip in mind.
'My kids have been begging me to go to Disney World,' he said in the release. 'I can't wait to see their faces light up when they hear the news we are going this summer.'
He is the third gambler to take more than a million dollar win home from the casino in recent months.
One guest won a $1,232,300.19 jackpot playing a Dragon Link slot machine on March 13, while another scored a $4,178,889.94 win on a Megabucks MegaVault slot machine in April, McClatchy News reported.
Pechanga Resort Casino, about a 90-mile drive southeast from Los Angeles, 'is one of the largest casino resorts' in the country, according to the resort's website. The casino features more than 200,000 square feet of gaming space, which includes slots machines, video poker machines and table games.

Lottery player spends $5 — and scores a $912,000 jackpot prize in North Carolina

A lottery player spent $5 on a ticket — and hit the jackpot in North Carolina. On June 4, the player bought a ticket that scored the top prize in The Lamp: Dark Arts, the N.C. Education Lottery wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. The Lamp: Dark Arts is a progressive jackpot game that offers lottery tickets starting at 50 cents. The online game features a prize wheel and digital icons that players can match to win big, rules show. It turns out, the lucky player won the top-tier 'Alakazam' jackpot, making their ticket worth $912,326, lottery officials told McClatchy News via email. A spokesperson previously told McClatchy News the lottery can't pinpoint where players are when they buy their tickets for digital instant games. But lottery officials know the jackpot winner is from the Duplin County town of Warsaw, a roughly 70-mile drive southeast from Raleigh. As of about 10:45 a.m. June 5, no one had claimed the Warsaw prize. In North Carolina, the winners of digital instant games have about six months to cash in, officials said.

Estate graced with ‘old Hollywood glamour' lists in California. Take a look

A unique-looking home has landed on the real estate market in Palm Springs, California, and its backstory is just as elegant as its appearance. Listed for $2.449 million, both the house, its former occupant and designer helped make it pretty famous, its listing on Compass says. 'Welcome to 1075 S. Manzanita, a singular architectural statement that captures the spirit of 1960s innovation and Old Hollywood glamour,' a June 4 news release says. 'Originally designed in 1964 by Charles W. Doty, this curvilinear residence is a sculptural ode to the era's finest modernist ideals. Its iconic circular form and orbit-like layout evoke comparisons to Oscar Niemeyer's Casa das Canoas and John Lautner's Elrod House and Hope Residence, a symphony of movement, geometry, and expressive design.' It only makes sense that someone as glamorous as the home once owned it. Turns out, it was formally owned by Academy Award-winning actor Loretta Young, a starlet who starred in movies like 'The Farmer's Daughter' and 'Call of the Wild,' and who then made a smash in the TV world with 'The Loretta Young Show.' Her career spanned over four decades. 'This is the former home of Hollywood Legend Loretta Young. The home itself features a circular design, mountain views through large glass windows, and mid-century modern charm with a saltwater pool,' listing agent Alex Lombardo said in the release provided to McClatchy News. Both the exterior and interior are nothing short of awe-inspiring with its high ceilings and old school chicness. Features in and around the three-bedroom, four-bathroom residence, per the listing and release, include: Terrazzo flooring'Origami-inspired ceilings'Circular living roomGlass wallsPrivate lodgeWine coolerCocktail terrace and bar'Fleetwood disappearing doors'GardensWaterfall Pond'Open-air shower'Junior en-suiteStudio with private entrance Salt water poolTwo-car garage 'Manzanita is more than a home, it's a museum-quality architectural heirloom, rich in Hollywood history, sculptural poetry, and Mid-Century Modern refinement,' the release says.
