Trinity High School junior killed in Bedford crash
A Trinity High School junior was killed early Easter morning in a crash on Back River Road in Bedford, police said.
The name of the female student was not released. Trinity and St. Joseph Junior High School will be closed for academic classes Monday, but the schools will hold Mass for students at 1 p.m. in the gymnasium and have counseling services available at the school for students from 9 a.m. to noon, Trinity officials said in an email.
Trinity also postponed all sports practices and games, as well as other school activities, until the week of May 5 after April vacation.
'I am deeply saddened to share the news of the tragic passing of one of our juniors, who was involved in a fatal, single-person motor vehicle accident Saturday evening,' said Nathan Stanton, the president of the two adjoined schools. 'The entire Trinity High School and St. Joseph Junior High School community offers our prayers for her and her family as they deal with this unimaginable loss.'
The student was the only person in a vehicle that crashed into a pole and rolled over around 12:30 a.m. near the intersection of Back River and County roads, police said. She was pronounced dead later.
Bedford Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
Stanton sent an email Sunday notifying parents and students about the accident and several people commented about the loss on the school's Facebook page.
"Many prayers to those affected by this loss. Our hearts go out to the community during this difficult time," Amber Wheeler wrote on the Facebook page.

Jared Leto denies sexual misconduct after facing accusations from multiple women
Jared Leto has been accused of sexual misconduct by nine women in a lengthy exposé published by Air Mail on Friday. A representative for Leto has denied the accusations. Allegations against the Thirty Seconds to Mars singer, 53, resurfaced last month when Los Angeles DJ Allie Teilz reshared a Facebook post she made in 2012 on her Instagram Story. In response, a representative for the star said that Leto has been sober for more than 35 years after the accuser speculated that he was on drugs during the calls. Leto 'has not had a drink or used drugs in over 35 years,' said the spokesperson. Laura La Rue, a model who was also 16 when she met Leto, claimed she had a similar interaction after Leto invited her to visit him in his music studio. 'Their communications contain nothing sexual or inappropriate,' Leto's representative told Air Mail, 'and Ms. La Rue later applied to work as Mr. Leto's personal assistant, further underscoring the absence of anything inappropriate in any of their interactions.' La Rue reportedly denied ever applying to work as Leto's personal assistant. Woman, 94, seriously hurt after being hit by car
A 94-year-old woman has been seriously injured after being hit by a car on Merseyside. The pedestrian was struck by a black Mini Cooper Countryman car on St Albans Road, Wallasey, Wirral at about 12:25 BST, Merseyside Police said. She was taken to hospital where she is being treated for her injuries. The 89-year-old driver of the car stopped at the scene and has been helping officers with their inquiries, the force said. One lane of St Albans Road has been closed while investigations are carried out to establish what happened.
