California's SFMTA orders 42 hybrid transit buses from NFI subsidiary New Flyer
SFMTA, a critical component of San Francisco's transportation network, manages all ground transportation within the city, including public transit, traffic management, cycling, and pedestrian infrastructure. The SFMTA Municipal Railway (Muni) operates a fleet of hybrid buses, trolleys, and battery-electric buses, as well as street cars, light rail vehicles, and cable cars. With approximately 500,000 daily boardings and a total of 158 million passenger boardings in 2024, Muni is one of the busiest and most essential transit systems in North America.

WESTSHORE TERMINALS ANNOUNCES OUTAGE AT BERTH 1 AND UPDATES 2025 THROUGHPUT GUIDANCE
VANCOUVER, BC, Aug. 17, 2025 /CNW/ - Westshore Terminals Investment Corporation (TSX: WTE) (the "Corporation" or "Westshore") announces that on August 16, 2025 there was a fire on the shiploader which services Berth 1. The fire crews extinguished the fire safely, and there were no injuries involved. At this time, based on our preliminary limited inspection and assuming there is no significant structural damage, we estimate Berth 1 to be out of commission for approximately ten weeks to perform the necessary repairs to the mechanical and electrical systems. Westshore will provide an update on the duration of the outage once a detailed inspection has been performed and the time to source replacement parts/materials for the necessary repairs is confirmed. Operations at Berth 2 will continue in the ordinary course throughout this repair work and Westshore will work with its customers and the railways to reduce the impact as much as possible. As a result of the Berth 1 outage, and based on information currently available, Westshore anticipates throughput volumes for 2025 to be approximately 24.0-24.5 million tonnes, a reduction from the previously disclosed estimate of approximately 26.0 million tonnes. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available. For 2026, this iconic workhorse receives a ground-up overhaul, further solidifying its position as one of the most capable, versatile and reliable utility-recreational side-by-sides on the market. The HD11 powerplant is paired with an all-new continuously variable transmission (CVT) and pDrive primary clutch that are designed to put power to the ground with precision and improve low-speed power delivery, while enhancing reliability. The suspension and steering components are more robust and are assembled with double-bonded bushings, an industry first, for reduced maintenance and a quieter ride. The chassis has also been toughened up for the most demanding work and play scenarios, including improved ROPS. These changes not only increase toughness but also deliver sharper, more stable handling and advanced suspension performance even when the vehicle is loaded down with tools and gear. The Defender features 12 inches of front and rear suspension travel with 15 inches of ground clearance, which are best in class. The turning radius has also been reduced, making tight maneuvers easier than ever. Finally, the new, larger 262mm front brake rotors are gripped by 32mm hydraulic twin piston calipers and new brake pads, providing confidence-inspiring stopping power, even under heavy loads. The ergonomics start with the largest cab in its class and 8% more leg room than the closest competition.
