Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday accused Valdimir Putin of trying to 'legalise the occupation' of Kyiv's territories amid the ongoing attempts to reach a peace deal between the two nations.
In a post on X, Zelenskyy slammed "Putin's tactics" and said that Russia must end the war it started.
"Everyone can clearly see Putin's tactics. He fears sanctions and is doing everything to bail on them. He wants to exchange a pause in the war, in the killings, for the legalisation of the occupation of our land," Zelenskyy said.
"He wants to gain territorial spoils for the second time already. But, now we will not allow his second attempt, Zelensky said, noting what happened with Crimea," he added.
The Ukrainian president further said that Trump has the levers and the determination, stressing that Ukraine has supported every proposal of Trump's, starting back in February.
"I have not heard any partners express doubts about America's ability to ensure that the war ends. The President of the United States has the levers and the determination. Ukraine has supported all of President Trump's proposals, starting back in February.

Ceasefire, all formats have been supported," he said in his video message.
Earlier Saturday, Zelenskyy criticized the planned Trump-Putin summit set for Friday in Alaska, insisting that 'any decisions that are without Ukraine are at the same time decisions against peace. They will not bring anything. These are dead decisions. They will never work.'
"We will not allow this second attempt to partition Ukraine. Knowing Russia, where there is a second, there will be a third.
That is why we stand firm on clear Ukrainian positions. We must end the war with a dignified peace, based on a clear and reliable security architecture," he said.
Trump announced on Friday that he would meet Putin in Alaska on Aug. 15 to discuss a potential peace deal, likely to include possible land swaps.
"We're going to get some back, and we're going to get some switched," he said at an event at the White House.. "There'll be some swapping of territories to the betterment of both."
Trump did not clarify which territories could be exchanged, as Ukraine holds no Russian land, any swap would involve giving up Ukrainian territory in exchange for areas now under Russian control, reports the New York Times.
'It seems entirely logical for our delegation to fly across the Bering Strait simply, and for such an important and anticipated summit of the leaders of the two countries to be held in Alaska,' said Putin's foreign affairs adviser, Yuri Ushakov, on Saturday, in a statement posted to the Kremlin's news channel.
A Russian drone strike on a minibus in the suburbs of Kherson killed two people and injured 16 others, regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin said on Saturday. In the Zaporizhzhia region, another drone attack on a car killed two people, according to regional governor Ivan Fedorov.
Russia's defence ministry said that its air defence system destroyed 97 Ukrainian drones over Russia and the Black Sea overnight, along with another 21 on Saturday morning.

‘Is he worthy of lunch with Trump': Congress slams Pak Army chief Asim Munir's nuclear threat from US

Congress on Monday slammed Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir's nuclear threat against India, those who do not support India on 'Operation Sindoor' should also wake up. File photo: Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan Asim Munir holds a microphone during his visit at the Tilla Field Firing Ranges (TFFR)(REUTERS) Pakistani military chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, made a threat from the United States, saying that Islamabad would take down "half the world" with it, if his country faces an existential threat in future with India. 'We are a nuclear nation, if we think we are going down, we'll take half the world down with us,' reports quoted Asim Munir as saying at the event in Tampa. 'Direct threat to Trump', says Congress Backing Operation Sindoor and the Indian and the Indian Army, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said on Asim Munir's statement, 'We are very proud of our Indian army. Pakistan has been exposed. Now the whole world knows what intention Pakistan have. So the world should wake up. Those who do not support India on 'Operation Sindoor' should also wake up.' "We are confident that we will protect India, but this is a direct threat to Trump and Russia. Is the person who has threatened to destroy half the world worthy of sitting and eating lunch with you? Are you entertaining him? This is a dangerous statement. The United Nations Security Council should take cognisance of this," Tiwari said, speaking to ANI news agency. Another Congress MP, Sukhdeo Bhagat, said India knows its power, its limitations, and how to respond, adding that Munir's statement also threatens Donald Trump. "The clouds that thunder do not rain. India knows its power, its limitations, and how to respond. The way he (Asim Munir) is making all these statements while in America also threatens Trump. Speaking such violent words, and with Trump currently trying to portray himself as a peace messenger, raises the question of what Trump will say. Therefore, Trump should consider these things. India does not need to worry about them. India is capable of giving answers...," Sukhdeo Bhagat said. Addressing the Pakistani diaspora in Florida's Tampa, Asim Munir also repeated is anti-India rhetoric, saying "Kashmir is the jugular vein" of Pakistan". Weeks before the April 22 Pahalgam attack, Munir said Pakistan will not forget the issue of Kashmir, asserting, "It was our jugular vein." Trashing his comments, India had said, "How can anything foreign be in a jugular vein? This is a union territory of India. Its only relationship with Pakistan is the vacation of illegally occupied territories by that country."

Intel CEO to visit White House on Monday: Report

Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan is set to visit the White House on Monday after U.S. President Donald Trump called for his removal last week, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter. Reuters could not immediately confirm the report. Intel and the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Tan is expected to have a extensive conversation with Trump while looking to explain his personal and professional background, the report said, adding that he could propose ways Intel and the U.S. government could work together, the report added. Tan hopes to win Trump's approval by showing his commitment to the U.S. and guaranteeing the importance of keeping Intel's manufacturing capabilities as a national security issue, the report added. Last week, Trump demanded the immediate resignation of Tan, calling him "highly conflicted" due to his ties to Chinese firms and raising doubts about plans to turn around the struggling American chip icon. Tan said he shared the president's commitment to advancing U.S. national and economic security.

‘Keep quiet on all things Trump': Gallagher brothers warned before Oasis US tour

Oasis front-men Liam and Noel Gallagher are being advised to put a sock in it, at least when it comes to Donald Trump,if they want their US comeback tour to run smoothly - since the US President has a recurring streak of not being 'mad fer it' when it comes to criticism. The famously outspoken Gallagher brothers have been warned to keep quiet about American politics as they gear up to start the US leg of their reunion tour later this month.(instagram/@oasis) The famously outspoken brothers have both taken swipes at the US President in the past, with Liam once calling him a 'd***' and Noel describing his environmental policies as 'pretty f***ing scary.' But with American gigs on the horizon, industry insiders are warning them to keep their opinions to themselves. 'Stay out of American politics' Top showbiz manager Jonathan Shalit didn't mince his words, saying: 'My advice to Oasis is simple: stay out of American politics. If they want their US tour to go ahead without disruption, it would be wise to keep quiet on all things Trump.' The caution comes after a French scientist was denied entry to the US earlier this year when border officials found anti-Trump comments on his phone - proof, some say, that the president and his allies don't take criticism lightly. Back in 2018, when the Oasis feud was still raging, Liam even declared Noel 'worse than Donald Trump,' branding his brother the 'biggest liar and biggest faker in the business.' Family reunion in Dublin Fresh from a weekend gig in Edinburgh, the Britpop legends are set to kick off their US run in Chicago on August 28, followed by stops in New Jersey and California. But before they jet across the pond, the Gallaghers will play a special set at Dublin's Croke Park - with a very important guest in the audience. Peggy Gallagher, the brothers' beloved mum, is 'definitely' planning to attend, according to Gavin Fleming, frontman of Oasis tribute band Live Forever. 'She's going to be at both [Dublin] shows, looking out and seeing her two sons back talking together,' he said. Peggy has long been credited with brokering peace between her famously combative sons - a reunion that could be just as historic for Oasis fans as any tour date.
