BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Dog Haus, a popular restaurant known for its gourmet burgers, hot dogs, and craft beers, is expanding into Louisiana for the first time. The first location is set to open in spring 2026, with two more to follow.
A news release said the locations are planned for Lake Charles, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette.
The expansion is led by a family team: Gregg Strasburger, his daughter Erin LeDoux, and her husband Matt LeDoux, a Lake Charles native with Baton Rouge roots.
According to the release, they are opening three other locations in Texas, working with retired Chick-fil-A operator Steven Vinson in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Dog Haus is also known for its fried chicken sandwiches and plant-based options — all served on grilled King's Hawaiian rolls. The restaurants also offer craft cocktails and local beers.
'We're excited to bring Dog Haus to Louisiana,' said Strasburger. 'With all-beef dogs, Black Angus burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, plant-based options, craft cocktails, and local beers, the menu truly has something for everyone. But it's more than just the food — every Dog Haus becomes a part of the community. It's a place to kick back, enjoy the vibe, and spend quality time with family and friends. We can't wait to bring that energy here.'

Louisiana senators push FEMA to halt Risk Rating 2.0 program

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Sens. Bill Cassidy and John Kennedy ask the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to stop the Risk Rating 2.0 program. According to FEMA, Risk Rating 2.0 was created under the Biden administration as a new approach to flood risk assessment through new data. The system checks factors such as flood frequency, flood types, and proximity to flood sources. Cassidy, Kennedy, and other Republicans are asking that the program end due to the increase in premiums under the National Flood Insurance Program. 'Since the Biden Administration's rollout of Risk Rating 2.0, premiums under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) increased in every state. By FEMA's own estimates, 77 percent of all NFIP policies now pay more than under the old system,' the senators wrote. The letter states that Louisiana saw a 234% increase in premiums in 2023, forcing over 52,000 residents out of the program. Other states impacted include Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, and West Virginia. 'Each month that Risk Rating 2.0 continues unchecked, more families are forced to abandon their insurance coverage, neighborhoods face economic strain, and entire communities risk collapse after the next disaster,' the lawmakers added. In March 2025, Cassidy and Kennedy introduced legislation to extend the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) through Dec. 31, 2026, which would give homeowners long-term stability. Threads is finally getting a DM inbox

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said today that the company's social network Threads will finally begin testing a separate DM (direct message) inbox that's separate from users' Instagram DM Inboxes. This means Threads users won't have to use Instagram or switch apps to chat with someone on the platform. The company will initially test this feature in limited geographies, including Hong Kong, Thailand, and Argentina, with plans to roll it out in other locations soon. The chat feature is currently limited to one-on-one conversations, not group messages. This will likely be seen as a positive development for Meta's newest social network. As TechCrunch previously noted, many people have a different set of followers on Threads as compared with Instagram. Plus, there's a chance that some number of Threads users don't often use their Instagram accounts, if they use the app at all. Instagram has been thinking of how to approach Threads DMs for some time. Last year, the company was working on a prototype that allowed users to send a message to their Instagram inbox directly from the Threads app. In 2023, Instagram head Adam Mosseri also said that the social network hoped to make the Instagram inbox work for Threads. His thinking at the time was that people have similar followings on both social networks, which is not always true. When Threads debuted in July 2023, it was heavily dependent on Instagram's network effects, with features that immediately connected Instagram users with their friends and other creators. But after more than 20 months of existence, the company realized that people were forming different kinds of networks on Threads, due to its public nature and similarities with other short-form apps like X and Bluesky. Meta said that it decided to create a separate DM inbox feature because Threads users were asking for a way to have one-on-one conversations without having to switch apps. While it's good that Threads finally made a DM inbox available, the company is late in rolling it out. Its rival social network Bluesky introduced DMs in May 2024. Meta's announcement also comes just a few days after Elon Musk-owned X released a new XChat feature with support for group messages, vanishing mode, and file sharing, to improve on DMs. This article originally appeared on TechCrunch at Sign in to access your portfolio
