Talking to reporters, the former CM said there was no confusion in the minds of workers of both parties about an alliance. Speculation about the alliance has picked up pace ahead of civic body polls and the poor show by MNS and UBT Sena in the 2024 assembly elections. Uddhav, however, parried questions on whether there were any kind of tie-up talks taking place currently between his party and MNS, a party floated by Raj Thackeray in 2006.
UBT Sena MP Sanjay Raut suggested there may have been phone calls between the two cousins. He did not elaborate further.
MNS spokesperson and Mumbai unit president Sandeep Deshpande said Sena (UBT) should first send a formal proposal to Raj Thackeray or at least make a phone call to break the ice. He cited instances of the 2014 assembly polls and 2017 Mumbai civic body elections when MNS had made an attempt to form an alliance with the undivided Shiv Sena.
Asked about the developments, CM Devendra Fadnavis said there was nothing to react to the buzz about Uddhav and Raj reuniting politically. "It is for Raj Thackeray to react to Uddhav Thackeray's comments that what people want will happen. How am I concerned? They will decide whether to have an alliance or not," Fadnavis told reporters during a visit to Gadchiroli.
Deputy CM Eknath Shinde declined to respond to a question on the matter but said Mahayuti comprising BJP and its allies will win local body polls.

Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said it was up to Raj and Uddhav to take a call. "What is the point in you and me discussing it?" he asked.
The Congress said it will welcome such an alliance. State Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe said, "There have been talks from both the Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS that they will join hands to protect Maharashtra's interests and keep a communal BJP away. If the two parties come together for this, we will welcome the move."
The Thackeray cousins have recently indicated they could ignore "trivial issues" and join hands. While Raj has said uniting in the interest of the Marathi 'manoos' was not difficult, Uddhav has insisted he was ready to put aside trivial fights, provided those working against Maharashtra's interests were not entertained.
On Thursday, MNS' Amit Thackeray said alliances do not happen by making statements in the media, and added Uddhav and Raj should talk. PTI

UBT flays Sena over Durgadi temple visit curbs on Eid

Kalyan: Members from both Shiv Sena's Eknath Shinde and UBT factions held separate protests near Durgadi fort in Kalyan on Saturday. The fort houses religious sites for both Hindus and Muslims. During Bakr Eid, Muslim worshippers gather in large numbers to pray at the fort's Idgah section. Consequently, Hindu devotees are restricted from entering the Durga temple located at the fort's front to maintain peace. On Saturday, police prevented both Sena factions from crossing the barricades near the fort. The Sena UBT's up neta Vijay Salvi criticised Shiv Sena, noting that while the Ghanta Naad movement was initiated by Anand Dighe in 1982, with deputy CM Eknath Shinde leading it for many years, the state administration has now been restricting devotee entry despite his positions as CM and deputy CM showing duplicity on Hindutva." Sena MLA Vishwanath Bhoir also criticised the administration for the restrictions on temple entry. — Pradeep Gupta

Like Nobel For Masood Azhar, Hafiz Saeed: Priyanka Chaturvedi blasts UN Over Pakistans Anti-Terror Role

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP and leader of the all-party delegation Priyanka Chaturvedi on Saturday criticized the United Nations Security Council for appointing Pakistan as the vice chair of the counter-terrorism panel. She pointed out that Pakistan was given the role despite 52 designated terrorists residing within its borders. Addressing the Indian community at a community event in Berlin, Chaturvedi described the UN Security Council's decision to appoint Pakistan as vice-chairman of its counter-terrorism panel as akin to nominating Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed for the Nobel Peace Prize. She added that such a decision should be criticised. Notably, both Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed are designated as international terrorists by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). 'Pakistan has become a part of the UN Security Council. You all are aware that 52 terrorists reside in Pakistan. But they have been given the vice chairmanship of counter-terrorism. It is just like nominating Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed for the Nobel Peace Prize. It needs to be called out. The whole world is suffering due to this," ANI quoted Chaturvedi as saying. Chaturvedi also reaffirmed India's firm stance against terrorism, saying that whenever there is injustice and we have to fight against terrorists to serve justice, we will do that without any hesitation. "We are often told that India is a tolerant nation; yes, India is a tolerant nation. We are a land of Mahatma and Buddha, but we are also the land of Krishna. Whenever there is injustice and we have to fight against terrorists to serve justice, we will do that without any hesitation,' ANI quoted Chaturvedi as saying. Pakistan, serving as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for the 2025-26 term, will chair the Council's Taliban Sanctions Committee in 2025 and will hold the position of vice-chair on the Counter-Terrorism Committee of the 15-nation UN body. Priyanka Chaturvedi is part of an all-party delegation to Europe to convey India's resolute and united stand against terrorism following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where Pakistan-sponsored terrorists killed 26 innocent civilians. The delegation arrived in Germany after concluding their visit to Belgium. The delegation, led by Ravi Shankar Prasad, includes BJP MPs Daggubati Purandeswari and Samik Bhattacharya, Congress MP Amar Singh and Gulam Ali Khatana, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, AIADMK MP M Thambidurai, former Union Minister MJ Akbar, and retired diplomat Pankaj Saran.
