Dumka: With the annual
Shravani Mela
scheduled to begin from July 11, the Deoghar district administration has begun preparations to ensure a hassle-free experience for devotees during their pilgrimage to
Baba Baidyanath
.
Deoghar DC Vishal Sagar, along with his subordinates, took stock of the preparations on Saturday, by inspecting the entire Kanwariya (pilgrims) route from the Dumma-based interstate bordering point with Bihar to the Babadham temple and other important places.
He also inspected the preparations at Baghmara bus stand and the proposed site for establishing a tent city at Kothiya for the devotees.
"Apart from the availability of basic amenities for pilgrims, the tent city must have proper ventilation and a hygienic atmosphere," he directed the officials concerned, emphasising safe electric transmission arrangements and proper distance of lavatories. The DC also directed officials to ensure provisions for
health camps for devotees
at strategic locations.
Considering the adverse climatic conditions, particularly the scorching heat, the DC also directed to install Indra Varsha (mist sprinkling) along the route and at holding points for devotees.
He also directed the Deoghar municipal corporation to ensure regular treatment of the water of Shivganga (the holy pond) during the period.
The DC also took stock of the queue complex and the Integrated Mela Control Room (IMCR) and issued directions for better coordination during the mela.

IRCTC Tatkal ticket booking will require Aadhaar from July 1

The Indian Railways on Wednesday (June 11, 2025) announced new rules to the Tatkal ticket booking system. One of the most prominent ones among these is that Aadhaar-based identification will soon be mandatory to book railway tickets online. 'Effective from July 1, Tatkal tickets booked through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation's (IRCTC) official website and mobile app will be available only to users authenticated with Aadhaar,' a spokesperson of the Ministry of Railways said. The spokesperson also added that Aadhaar-based OTP authentication will become mandatory for all online Tatkal bookings from July 15. The Ministry has also made provisions for offline Tatkal bookings. 'Tatkal tickets booked at computerised Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters and through authorised agents will require OTP authentication sent to the mobile number provided by the user at the time of booking,' the spokesperson said. This provision will also come into effect from July 15. The Indian Railways has also barred authorised ticketing agents from booking opening-day Tatkal tickets during the first 30 minutes of the respective booking windows, in order to prevent bulk bookings during the critical opening window. 'For AC classes, this restriction applies from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and for non-AC classes, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.,' the spokesperson said. Ahead of these changes, IRCTC had deactivated 2.5 crore suspect user IDs as part of a digital overhaul of its ticketing infrastructure, on June 4, 2025. 'Through the deployment of anti-bot systems and integration with a leading Content Delivery Network (CDN) service provider, the Railways has curbed unauthorised automated bookings by unscrupulous agents and improved the access of the website to the genuine users,' a senior Railway official said. '131 complaints of the suspicious users have been lodged with the cybercrime cell in the last four months.' Tatkal booking needs Aadhaar authentication from July 1

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 12 (UNI) With an aim to ensure fair and transparent access to Tatkal tickets and to safeguard the interests of genuine passengers, Indian Railways has announced key modifications in the Tatkal ticket booking system. These changes are aimed at enhancing user authentication and reducing misuse of the scheme. Effective July 1, 2025, Tatkal tickets booked through IRCTC's official website and mobile app will be available only to users authenticated with Aadhaar. Further, Aadhaar-based OTP authentication will become mandatory for Tatkal bookings made online starting July 15, 2025, a release said. Tatkal tickets booked at computerised Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters and through authorised agents will require OTP authentication sent to the mobile number provided by the user at the time of booking. This provision will also come into effect from July 15, 2025. To prevent bulk bookings during the critical opening period, authorised ticketing agents of Indian Railways will not be permitted to book opening-day Tatkal tickets during the first 30 minutes of the booking window. For AC classes, this restriction applies from 10 am to 10.30 am, and for non-AC classes, from 11 am to 11.30 am. These changes are being implemented to improve transparency in Tatkal bookings and to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach genuine end users. CRIS and IRCTC have been instructed to make necessary system modifications and inform all zonal railways and concerned departments accordingly. The Ministry of Railways urges all passengers to take note of these changes and encourages everyone to ensure Aadhaar linkage with their IRCTC user profiles to avoid inconvenience. UNI DS ARN
