Welfare calendar will soon be released, says Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said a target had been set to achieve zero poverty in the State by the end of 2029.
Addressing the gathering after disbursing social pensions and interacting with the MGNREGS workers as part of the 'Pedala Sevalo' (in service of the poor) programme at Cheyyeru village of Katrenikona mandal in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, Mr. Naidu said eradication of poverty would eliminate economic inequalities.
Population management
'South India is witnessing a population decline compared to the North. Andhra Pradesh has prepared a plan for population management for overall progress. We expect women to adopt a policy of preferring not less than two children, as the country will reap benefit from the working age group by 2027,' said Mr. Naidu.
Stating that no State was offering a maximum of ₹15,000 as pension in any category, the Chief Minister said a welfare calendar would soon be released. It would have the schedule of implementation of the promises and welfare schemes.
Referring to the growth of the Godavari delta, Mr. Naidu appealed to the coconut farmers to go for intercrop, with cocoa and fodder to generate additional income in the groves spread over 90,000 acres.
'Each family will be given a pair of cows or buffaloes for the uplift of the poor in the district. The government will examine the possibility of supplying fodder,' he said.
Projects sanctioned
Mr. Naidu sanctioned two bridges at Gogullanka and Pallamkurru in the mandal and a BC residential school-cum-college for girls at Cheyyeru, besides giving the nod for development of a 12-acre pond into a comprehensive water scheme for drinking purposes.
The Chief Minister announced ₹2 lakh as ex gratia to the next of kin of the eight persons, including two minors, who drowned in the Godavari at Kamini Lanka of Mummudivaram mandal in the district.

Jagan Mohan Reddy objects to supply of ration goods through fair price shops
YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has opposed the government's decision to supply ration through the fair price (FP) shops instead of mobile dispensing units (MDU). In a post on X on Sunday, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said the government's decision would create hardship to the poor. 'The government is pushing onto the road nearly 20,000 BC, SC, ST and minority people, who rely on the 9,260 MDUs introduced by the YSRCP government,' he said. The TDP had promised to pay ₹10,000 per month to the volunteers if it was voted to power. Soon after coming to power, the government withdrew their services. In the name of rationalisation, the government was acting with a vengeance against the village and ward secretariats. Village Clinics, family doctor services, and RBKs were weakened, he said. 'People are facing serious difficulties in getting government services. Due to this foolish move, their difficulties have increased further,' he alleged. Moreover, 20,000 employees who depended on these vehicles had been hit hard, he said. They were not shown any alternative, he added. In all, three lakh people, who included 2.6 lakh volunteers and those laid off in the AP Beverages Corporation and AP FibreNet, lost their jobs, he said. 'Only Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu can destroy so many families in a year of rule,' he added.

Addressing the media after participating in a meeting organised by Yadava Employees and Professionals Association here, the Minister appealed to students and the youth at large to work towards making Andhra Pradesh a developed State by 2047. Mr. Parthasarathy also appreciated Minister for HRD and Industries Nara Lokesh for his efforts towards creation of first-of-its-kind Quantum Valley in the State. The issue will most likely be placed in the ensuing Cabinet meeting', the Minister said.

Address water woes of Rayalaseema, CPI leader tells Chief Minister Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan
CPI State secretary K. Ramakrishna criticised the government for making tall claims on the proposed Godavari-Banakacherla project, even as the people in Rayalaseema, especially those in Kurnool district, are suffering due to lack of drinking water. The government, instead of completing the pending projects, was planning to take up the Godavari-Banakacherla project, Mr. Ramakrishna said while addressing the media here on Sunday. He criticised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for focussing only on grand-scale projects and neglecting rural water supply. Funds had not been allocated for irrigation projects in Rayalaseema in the previous year's Budget and the 'neglect' continued this year too, he alleged. Earlier, Mr. Naidu had focussed on Amaravati and Polavaram, and now the focus shifted to the Godavari–Banakacharla project, which was estimated to cost ₹82,000 crore, he said. 'While people from Rayalaseema are migrating due to water scarcity, there is no response from Mr. Naidu,' he alleged. 'Even after 75 years of Independence, villages continue to be deprived of drinking water. Neither Mr. Naidu nor Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan are paying attention to the issue. Why has Mr. Pawan Kalyan not addressed the drinking water issue in Rayalaseema?' he asked. Constituencies such as Emmiganur, Alur, Mantralayam, Adoni, and Pattikonda were facing extremely harsh conditions, where people were forced to drink muddy water from farm puddles. Among them, Aspari mandal in Alur constituency was the worst affected, Mr. Ramakrishna said.
