Jagan Mohan Reddy objects to supply of ration goods through fair price shops
In a post on X on Sunday, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said the government's decision would create hardship to the poor. 'The government is pushing onto the road nearly 20,000 BC, SC, ST and minority people, who rely on the 9,260 MDUs introduced by the YSRCP government,' he said.
The TDP had promised to pay ₹10,000 per month to the volunteers if it was voted to power. Soon after coming to power, the government withdrew their services. In the name of rationalisation, the government was acting with a vengeance against the village and ward secretariats. Village Clinics, family doctor services, and RBKs were weakened, he said.
'People are facing serious difficulties in getting government services. Due to this foolish move, their difficulties have increased further,' he alleged. Moreover, 20,000 employees who depended on these vehicles had been hit hard, he said. They were not shown any alternative, he added.
In all, three lakh people, who included 2.6 lakh volunteers and those laid off in the AP Beverages Corporation and AP FibreNet, lost their jobs, he said. 'Only Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu can destroy so many families in a year of rule,' he added.

Naidu meets young professionals, urges vision-driven development and constituency-based planning
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu called upon the newly-appointed young professionals to work with vision, coordination, and dedication to ensure constituency-level development across Andhra Pradesh. Addressing the Swarna Andhra Vision–2047 Young Professionals' meeting at Block 5 of the Secretariat on Tuesday, the Chief Minister shared his personal journey — from growing up in a village without electricity to introducing major power sector reforms in the undivided State. The government appointed one post-graduate young professional for each Assembly constituency, tasked with working according to constituency-specific vision documents prepared under Swarna Andhra Vision–2047. The Planning Department gave them a week-long training programme before their field assignments. At the conclusion of the training, the Chief Minister interacted with all the 175 young professionals, offering guidance and setting expectations. 'This is a new approach. When I first became Chief Minister, I identified priority areas and planned accordingly. You must identify your constituency's strengths, resources, and needs. Work with local MLAs and officials, prepare concrete development plans, and explain to people both the benefits of good policies and the risks of wrong approaches. Anticipate challenges before they arise,' Mr. Naidu said Mr. Naidu noted that despite low rainfall this year, forward planning ensured reservoirs were filled and 80 per cent of the State's total water storage capacity was achieved, benefiting groundwater levels. He urged the young professionals to study and monitor welfare programmes, infrastructure works, and sectoral growth, citing ongoing major road construction, pothole repairs costing ₹1,000 crore, and advancements in green energy. 'You have a great opportunity here,' Mr. Naidu told them. 'Treat this not just as a job but a mission. Work with passion, not pressure. Coordinate with elected representatives and officials. Keep yourself updated with facts, because without accurate information, your voice won't carry weight. The sky is the limit for your ideas if you are committed to development,' he added. Referring to his own experience implementing reforms in 1995, Mr. Naidu said, 'Vision is not just about creating wealth but also about ensuring welfare for the poor. My Vision 2020 was criticised then, but it proved 100 per cent correct for Hyderabad. Similarly, the work you do now will define the future of your constituencies.' Mr. Naidu also announced a major development — the Centre has allocated a semiconductor unit to Andhra Pradesh, which he described as a 'positive milestone' that would strengthen the State's electronics ecosystem. The Planning Department formally handed appointment letters to the 175 young professionals. Finance Minister P. Keshav, P4 Foundation Vice-Chairman K. Kutumba Rao, and senior Planning Department officials attended the event.

Single-use plastics banned on A.P. Secretariat premises from August 15
The Andhra Pradesh Secretariat has imposed a complete ban on single-use plastics from August 15 on its premises under the slogan 'Say No to Single-Use Plastic'. The moves is in line with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's vision to make the State free of single-use plastics by June 5, 2026 — World Environment Day. Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, in a review with department heads on Tuesday (August 12, 2025), said that all plastic bottles, cups, plates, spoons, and other disposable items will be prohibited in the Secretariat. From August 18, only glass and stainless steel bottles will be used for drinking water. Four RO plants and 32 bottle dispensing units are being installed, with 750 ml glass or steel bottles provided to staff. Mr. Vijayanand instructed all departments to ensure full compliance and create awareness among visitors. MA&UD Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar said that the shift will reduce costs — a reusable glass or steel bottle costs ₹3 compared to ₹8 for a plastic one. The government plans to extend the ban to all government offices by year-end, before scaling it State-wide. Officials stressed on the environmental and health hazards of plastic, from marine pollution to increased risks of cancer, infertility, and other diseases due to microplastics. The initiative aims to set a model for the public while addressing one of the most pressing ecological challenges. Senior officials, including Special Chief Secretaries and heads of Swachh Andhra Corporation and Pollution Control Board, took part in the meeting.
