YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has opposed the government's decision to supply ration through the fair price (FP) shops instead of mobile dispensing units (MDU).
In a post on X on Sunday, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said the government's decision would create hardship to the poor. 'The government is pushing onto the road nearly 20,000 BC, SC, ST and minority people, who rely on the 9,260 MDUs introduced by the YSRCP government,' he said.
The TDP had promised to pay ₹10,000 per month to the volunteers if it was voted to power. Soon after coming to power, the government withdrew their services. In the name of rationalisation, the government was acting with a vengeance against the village and ward secretariats. Village Clinics, family doctor services, and RBKs were weakened, he said.
'People are facing serious difficulties in getting government services. Due to this foolish move, their difficulties have increased further,' he alleged. Moreover, 20,000 employees who depended on these vehicles had been hit hard, he said. They were not shown any alternative, he added.
In all, three lakh people, who included 2.6 lakh volunteers and those laid off in the AP Beverages Corporation and AP FibreNet, lost their jobs, he said. 'Only Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu can destroy so many families in a year of rule,' he added.

TDP leaders slam Jagan for encouraging ‘divisive and disruptive' elements
Senior TDP leaders criticised YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for encouraging 'divisive and disruptive elements' under the guise of offering support during his visit to Tenali on Tuesday. Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad accused Mr. Jagan Monan Reddy of sympathising with the groups allegedly involved in anti-social activities, while ignoring the plight of victims such as the family of Subramanyam, a driver, who had allegedly been murdered by a YSRCP MLC. 'Political theatrics' Ponnur MLA Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar objected to the YSRCP activists standing atop a police vehicle during Mr. Jagan's visit, and described it as a deliberate attempt to provoke and revive what he termed as 'Jagan 2.0', a phase marked by intimidation and political theatrics. He urged the police to take legal action against those responsible for such acts, stating that such behavior sets a dangerous precedent. Parchur MLA Yeluri Sambasiva Rao termed Mr. Jagan's Tenali visit as a ploy to divert attention from the controversies and failures of the YSRCP government between 2019-24. He alleged that Mr. Jagan's political legacy was riddled with betrayal, corruption, and familial discord, including unresolved allegations related to land, mining, and welfare promises. Promises fulfilled In contrast, Mr. Sambasiva Rao said the TDP-led NDA government had fulfilled 70% of its poll promises in the first one year. Key achievements included increase in pension amounts, resumption of Anna Canteens, financial support to fishermen, and road repairs. He emphasised the government's commitment to inclusive welfare and transparency. The TDP leaders appealed to the people to remain vigilant against the misinformation campaign, and reaffirmed their commitment to development and good governance under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's leadership.

Jagan alleges police torture of youth in Guntur district, slams public assault
Last Updated: Tenali (Andhra Pradesh), June 3 (PTI) YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday accused the Guntur district police of 'torturing" three youth over three days and threatening them with electric shocks. Reddy visited the family of Chebrolu John Victor, one of the victims who was publicly assaulted by the police on April 25. He alleged the three youth—Victor, Karimullah, and Doma Rakesh—were humiliated by being made to sit on the road and beaten with batons in full public view. A video of the incident, which surfaced on May 26, triggered widespread outrage. It showed policemen kicking and stamping on the victims, sparking sharp criticism over police excesses. Reddy claimed that the youth were targeted for questioning a local constable who allegedly tried to take Victor's phone and motorcycle keys. The YSRCP leader further alleged that a group of policemen picked up Chebrolu John Victor and Karimullah from Mangalagiri on April 25 and beat them while transporting them to Tenali. Both were detained at a police station that night, where they were subjected to further custodial violence. The following day, they were publicly assaulted on a roadside in the Ithanagar area of Tenali, near a police station. The opposition leader also alleged that, after three days of continuous torture, the police planted a knife in Victor's pocket and summoned two local village revenue officers (VROs) to falsely document that Victor was carrying a deadly weapon. He said a fabricated attempt-to-murder case was subsequently registered against the trio at the behest of the same constable they had earlier confronted. On April 28, Reddy said the police produced the trio in a local court. He urged people to join a protest on June 4, which the YSRCP plans to observe as 'Betrayal day," marking one year of the TDP-led government in office. Reddy said the police was acting as 'collection agents" for TDP leaders, extorting kickbacks from sectors like liquor, sand, mining, and clubs. He further claimed that false cases are being indiscriminately filed against former YSRCP ministers, MLAs, party leaders, and grassroots workers as part of a larger political vendetta. Meanwhile, TDP MLA N Anand Babu hit back at Reddy, saying he should be ashamed of defending alleged ganja (marijuana) dealers, drug peddlers, and criminal gangs. 'When YSRCP MLC Anantha Babu murdered a Dalit driver named Subrahmanyam and had his body delivered at the doorstep, Jagan didn't even react," Babu told reporters, recalling a case during the YSRCP regime. YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy alleges breakdown of law and order in Andhra Pradesh
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday alleged collapse of law and order in Andhra Pradesh, and exhorts people to observe June 4 as 'betrayal day,' in protest against the NDA government's 'failure to fulfil electoral promises and misuse of police power.' Addressing the media after meeting the families of three youths who had allegedly been subjected to excesses by the police in Tenali, Mr. Reddy condemned the 'highhanded behaviour' of the police. He alleged that the youths — Rakesh, Victor, and Karimullah — had been beaten in public view and shamed along with their families. Charges were framed only after video clips of the incident began circulating on the social media, he alleged. The youths, who belonged to Mangalagiri, included a working professional, a junior advocate, and a mechanic, he said. They were allegedly assaulted for questioning a plainclothes constable on a previous occasion. The incident reportedly occurred on April 25 and 26. 'Cases, if any, should be dealt in the courts,' Mr. Reddy said, adding the police had no authority to act as a judge or executioner. The victims belonged to Dalit and minority communities, he said, and alleged that rowdy sheets were opened post facto to justify the action. Pointing out that prominent political figures, including Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, faced multiple legal cases, but were not subjected to similar treatment. 'Is this the standard of justice?' he asked. The former Chief Minister also criticised the alleged role of the police in supporting the activities related to liquor, sand, mining, and clubs. 'The police are being used as collection agents for the TDP leaders,' he alleged, claiming that false cases were being filed indiscriminately against former Ministers, legislators, and YSRCP workers. Similar incidents of alleged police excesses had surfaced in Dachepalli and Rajamahendravaram, he said. He also referred to cases involving social media activists Sudha Rani and Krishnaveni, who were reportedly taken from one police station to another, and booked in multiple cases. 'Such incidents are becoming the norm. The Constitution appears to have been replaced with the red book,' he said.
