Jawan Fame Ridhi Dogra On Shah Rukh Khan's National Award Win: ‘This Fake Mother…'
Ridhi Dogra, who played Kaveri Amma in Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, is 'over the moon' as the Bollywood superstar won Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 71st National Film Awards. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan won his first-ever National Film Award on Friday, marking a major milestone in his 33-year acting career. He won Best Actor in a Leading Role for his outstanding performance in Atlee's Jawan. Actress Ridhi Dogra, who played SRK's godmother 'Kaveri Amma' in the film, has now reacted to his National Award win, expressing her joy and pride over his long-overdue recognition. She hilariously called herself the 'fake mother' of her Jawan son Shah Rukh, expressing her 'real joy' over the news. On Friday, Ridhi Dogra reacted to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by a Shah Rukh Khan fan page announcing his Best Actor win for Jawan at the 71st National Film Awards. Referencing her role in the Atlee film, Ridhi Dogra wrote, 'The best news. The best film. This fake mother of her Jawan son is over the moon with real joy @iamsrk congratulations bigeesssttt love to you and @Atlee_dir and entire team !!!" Check out her post below! The best news. The best film. This fake mother of her Jawan son is over the moon with real joy @iamsrk congratulations ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ bigeesssttt love to you and @Atlee_dir and entire team !!! — Ridhi Dogra (@iRidhiDogra) August 1, 2025 She also took to her Instagram stories, and wrote, 'The Best News. For the best film. Your film @atlee47 Our film. Like you said, the awards deserve you @iamsrk All Of them. Always." Shah Rukh Khan shared the Best Actor award with Vikrant Massey, who won for his role in 12th Fail. Soon after the National Film Awards were announced, Shah Rukh Khan shared a video thanking his fans, directors and family for their unwavering support. Meanwhile, last month, Ridhi Dogra opened up about playing Shah Rukh Khan's godmother Kaveri Amma in the film. She said that as a fan of SRK, it was 'painful' for her to play the role, and she said that it would be a nightmare for any Shah Rukh Khan fan. She explained that in the film, her role was not actually that of Shah Rukh's mother – that part was played by Deepika Padukone. However, since the makers didn't want to label Deepika's character as the mother, so she became 'Kaveri Amma'. In an interview with Indian Express, Ridhi Dogra said, 'SRK is eternally young. I am playing a mother to Shah Rukh Khan. That's ridiculous. That's the stuff nightmares are made of. That's a nightmare for every Shah Rukh fan. I was directly called to meet Atlee on the sets of Jawan. I was very happy, but I didn't know where I was going and what was happening. After reaching there, I realized that they were shooting Jawan, the whole set was ready. Atlee explained the role to me, and I was like, 'No, what makes you think I am this person?'" However, she felt it was an opportunity she shouldn't pass up, so she decided to take on the role. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. National Awards: Prithiviraj Sukumaran Fans ANGRY After The Goat Life's Snub, Say 'What A Joke'
Fans said that The Goat Life deserved an award for its cinematography and performances. Prithiviraj Sukumaran fans are furious that Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life was snubbed at the 71st National Film Awards. The Awards were announced on August 1, and while films like Parking, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Animal, Jawan and The Kerala Story secured multiple wins, The Goat Life wasn't awarded in any category. Fans of Prithviraj Sukumaran are angry and have taken to social media to express their hot takes. One person wrote on Reddit, 'How did Shah Rukh Khan and Kerala Story win over The Goat Life and Prithviraj? National Awards are a joke🤡." Another added, 'Connections, my dear, and of course, networking!" Someone else wrote, 'Kerala Story won the award for cinematography over Goatlife/SSE. The standards of the National Film Awards are going down the drain." Another added, 'Best cinematography in the same time as Aadujeevitham, Viduthalai 1, Three of Us, Dasara, Jigarthanda Double X, Leo, Jawan, Jailer, Salaar, Tiger 3, SSE, Ponniyin Selvan 2, Fighter… quite a decision." One fan mentioned, 'Man, this film and Prithviraj deserve this award. What an amazing performance by Prithviraj." Another added, 'The awards don't deserve Prithviraj. We love you, hero." Another wrote, 'Seriously…this guy was soo good. He truly deserved it😔." One comment read, 'Not just acting but the cinematography, I mean the visuals of this movie are truly amazing." One fan wrote, 'Wow, what a joke!" Why Didn't The Goat Life Win A National Award? While some noted that The Goat Life might get a nomination for the 2024 awards due to the film's release in March that year, others pointed out that the makers had reportedly applied for a censorship certificate in late 2023. To be eligible for consideration, a film should be certified by the Central Board of Film Certification between January 1 and December 31. While some reports claim that the film received its certification only in January 2024, making it ineligible for the 71st National Film Awards, others note that the film had been certified on December 31, 2023. Meanwhile, the film's makers and cast are yet to react to fans' posts. The Goat Life, directed by Blessy and starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, is a visually arresting and emotionally wrenching survival drama based on the bestselling Malayalam novel Aadujeevitham by Benyamin. The film recounts the real-life ordeal of Najeeb, a Malayali migrant worker who is forced into slavery in the deserts of Saudi Arabia. The narrative follows Najeeb's journey from his humble village in Kerala to the Middle East in search of a better life. What begins as hope and ambition quickly descends into a nightmare when he is taken to a remote goat farm and stripped of all freedom.
