Parents allege RTE students facing ‘discrimination' in Chandkheda school

Time of Indiaa day ago
Ahmedabad: Parents of a number of students admitted under the Right to Education (RTE) Act at Asian Global School in Chandkheda have alleged that their children are facing discrimination and segregation.
Despite repeated complaints to the education department, only formal notices have been issued so far, with no concrete action taken. According to the parents, around 46 RTE students have been affected by these issues.
Parents alleged that RTE students have been segregated into a single classroom, denied access to the school canteen, and barred from using sports equipment and playground facilities—amenities freely available to fee-paying peers.
These practices directly violate the inclusivity mandates laid out in the RTE Act.
"Our children are being isolated and treated unfairly. Even after multiple complaints, no action has been taken," said one concerned parent.

A show-cause notice has been issued to the school," Chaudhary said.
He further stated that a local education inspector has been instructed to carry out an on-site inspection.
"If the allegations are confirmed, strict action will follow. Discrimination against RTE students is unacceptable, and any institution found guilty will face consequences," Chaudhary added.
Meanwhile, parents and child rights advocates have expressed outrage over the incident, demanding stronger enforcement mechanisms and punitive action against schools that violate RTE norms.

High Court takes BIG decision on Kohli's RCB teammate Yash Dayal in minor's rape case

Virat Kohli and Yash Dayal. (PIC - X) New Delhi: The Rajasthan High Court has dismissed a stay on the arrest of Virat Kohli's RCB teammate, fast bowler Yash Dayal in the case of the rape of a minor girl. What were the rulings of the High Court? The court held that as the victim is a minor, no interim relief is possible to the accused cricketer against arrest. Justice Sudesh Bansal hearing the case in Jaipur also ordered the case diary and fixed the next hearing on August 22. What did Yash Dayal's attorney say? Yash Dayal's lawyer, Kunal Jaiman, in the course of the hearing contended that the case was a part of a bigger conspiracy to tarnish the image of the cricketer. He contended that the same case of rape had previously been lodged in Ghaziabad, which was stayed by the Allahabad High Court. 'Just seven days after that, another FIR was registered in Jaipur. A gang seems to be involved in blackmailing by filing such cases,' Yash Dayal's lawyer alleged. What is the Jaipur case? But Sanganer police station in-charge Anil Jaiman revealed the Jaipur case details, adding that the complainant, who was a minor at the time of the incident, had met Yash Dayal while watching a cricket match. She then blamed Yash Dayal for sexually assaulting her nearly two years ago on the assurance of assisting her in her cricket career. The police also said Yash Dayal raped the girl for the second time in Sitapura hotel, Jaipur, during the season of IPL 2025 after the girl was invited to the room by Yash Dayal. Since the girl was 17-years-old at the time of the first rape, an FIR was registered under Sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Interestingly, Dayal had earlier created a commotion by claiming to have posted communal content on his Instagram handle two years back. He later clarified that while two contentious reports were posted from his account, but he did not post them from his account.

2 chain-snatching incidents in a day, woman held in one case

Jaipur: Chain snatchers in the city are growing audacious, with two women targeted in broad daylight—one in an upscale locality and the other at Sindhi Camp bus stand—on the same day. In the first incident, a woman fell victim to chain snatching on a moving bus. According to DCP (west) Hanuman Prasad Meena, Diksha Prajapati reported that she was boarding a bus from Sindhi Camp to Bayana around 3.30pm Tuesday when a woman passenger forcibly snatched the gold chain from her neck. When Diksha resisted, the woman threatened her with a weapon resembling a screwdriver and fled. In another incident, Sushila Devi (65), a resident of Shanti Nagar in Durgapura, was attacked near her home while returning from a Jain temple. The incident took place around 7.45pm on a busy stretch in one of the city's upscale localities. Two men on a motorcycle approached her just 200 metres from her house. The pillion rider flung chilli powder at her face before pushing her to the ground and snatching her gold chain. Fortunately, Sushila Devi's glasses, worn due to an eye operation, shielded her eyes from serious harm. Hearing her cries, a man and a woman nearby rushed to help and attempted to chase the assailants, but the duo managed to flee. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 25 of the Best Cities to Live In Learn More Undo Additional DCP (west) Alok Singhal said a team led by Sindhi Camp SHO Shyam Sunder Sharma scanned CCTV footage and used local intelligence to track down and arrest the woman chain snatcher, Madhu (35), from Chitokdi village in Bharatpur's Sewar area.
