Khaleej Times13 hours ago
The UAE Pro League officially held the draws for the 2025–26 season of the ADNOC Pro League, ADIB Cup, and the eUAE Pro League Championship at the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) headquarters. The event was hosted by ADNOC, the official sponsor of the ADNOC Pro League.
The ceremony was attended by prominent dignitaries, including H.E. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and CEO of ADNOC, and H.E. Abdulla Nasser Al Jneibi, Chairman of the UAE Pro League and First Vice President of the UAE Football Association. Representatives from clubs, sponsors, and football stakeholders were also present.
Round-by-Round Draw for Maximum Excitement
This season, the ADNOC Pro League introduced a new draw mechanism, with fixtures determined round-by-round instead of the traditional full-season schedule. This format mirrors best practices from top leagues such as the English Premier League, Serie A, and Bundesliga.
The system uses artificial intelligence, including OpenAI-powered tools, to ensure a balanced and competitive schedule. It considers multiple factors including: Avoiding multiple high-profile matches in a single round, preventing more than two matches in the same city per matchweek, equitable home-and-away splits and accommodating clubs with continental or international commitments
Opening week matchups include Shabab Al Ahli vs. Al Dhafra; Ajman vs. Al Wahda; Dibba vs. Sharjah; Al Ain vs. Al Bataeh; Kalba vs. Al Nasr; Khorfakkan vs. Al Jazira and Al Wasl vs. Bani Yas
The opening rounds of the 2025–26 ADNOC Pro League season promise a series of high-stakes encounters, with several marquee matchups scheduled in the first six weeks.
In Week 2, title contenders Shabab Al Ahli will face Al Wahda in a clash of heavyweights, while Sharjah meet Al Jazira in another early test of strength.
Week 3 sees Al Wasl take on Al Ain in what is expected to be a tightly contested encounter, and Al Jazira continue their tough run of fixtures against Al Nasr.
In Week 4, Al Nasr will host Shabab Al Ahli in a key fixture that could influence early momentum.
Week 5 is packed with blockbuster games, including Shabab Al Ahli vs. Al Ain, Al Jazira vs. Al Wahda, and Al Wasl vs. Sharjah—three matches that could set the tone for the title race.
The highly anticipated Dubai Derby between Al Wasl and Al Nasr will headline Week 6, drawing fans from across the city in one of the league's most iconic fixtures.
These early matchweeks are set to shape the narrative of the season, offering fans a strong lineup of competitive and emotionally charged matchups right from the start.
In the second half of the season, opening fixtures include Al Wahda vs. Dibba, Al Dhafra vs. Sharjah, and Ajman vs. Shabab Al Ahli.
ADIB Cup: High-Stakes Knockout Draw
The ADIB Cup draw revealed some intriguing matchups in the opening round, promising early drama in the knockout competition.
The draw for the 2025–26 ADIB Cup has produced a competitive bracket with several key matchups in the early stages.
In the first group of fixtures, Al Nasr will take on Al Bataeh, with the winner set to face Shabab Al Ahli in the next round. Sharjah will meet Dibba, and the victor from that tie will go on to play the winner of the Al Ain vs. Khorfakkan encounter.
In the second group, Al Wasl is drawn against Al Dhafra, with the winner advancing to face reigning champions Al Jazira. Meanwhile, Al Wahda will play Ajman, and the winner of that tie will meet either Bani Yas or Khorfakkan in the subsequent round.
The draw sets up the potential for high-stakes encounters early in the tournament, promising strong competition as clubs aim for a place in the later knockout rounds.
eUAE Pro League Championship: Focus on Digital Growth
The draw also included the sixth edition of the eUAE Pro League Championship, underlining the League's growing commitment to esports and digital engagement.
Group A comprises Bani Yas, Al Bataeh, Sharjah, Kalba, Ajman, Dibba and Al Jazira while Group B includes Khorfakkan, Al Wasl, Al Ain, Al Wahda, Shabab Al Ahli, Al Nasr, Al Dhafra
The UAE Pro League emphasized its belief in esports as a key pillar for future growth, aligning with global trends and the UAE's AI and digital strategies. The league sees esports as an avenue to reach younger audiences and be part of a growing international ecosystem.
This multi-competition draw ceremony reflects the UAE Pro League's efforts to enhance professionalism, leverage smart technologies, and align with international best practices in both sport and digital innovation.

New GoDaddy data reveals the impact of social media on Saudi entrepreneurs

Jeddah – According to the GoDaddy 2025 Global Entrepreneurship Survey, half of small businesses in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia now primarily operate online, using websites, marketplaces, or social media to sell. This shows a clear shift as entrepreneurs embrace digital channels to reach customers, grow sales, and stay competitive in today's market. The Rise of Digital-First Small Businesses Running a business today in the Kingdom means going beyond a physical store. While 30% of small businesses still work mainly from a physical location, one third (30%) now run their business primarily through their own website. Another 22% operate mostly on social media. Sales channels also reflect this shift. Though 24% sell in person, 31% use online stores or marketplaces, and another 41% sell directly through social media. This mix of physical and digital approaches shows that Saudi small businesses are finding new ways to meet customers—whether in-store, online, or on social media. The ability to combine different methods indicates a significant evolution in business' ability to adapt to customers' needs and preferences. Social Media: A Key Tool with Real Challenges Social media plays a major role in how small businesses in Saudi Arabia operate and grow. Nearly 94% of entrepreneurs say it's important to their sales strategy, and a clear majority (68%) say it's very important. It has also become the top place to learn about running a business: 74% turn to social media for insights, ahead of traditional educational resources like books and blogs (35%), and even artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT (47%). But while the value is clear, so are the challenges. When it comes to managing their social media presence, many entrepreneurs struggle with content. 34% say it's hard to come up with engaging ideas for posts, and another 32% don't have enough time to create and post regularly. Even when content is shared, converting engagement into sales remains difficult—51% say they have trouble converting followers into customers, and 52% can't reach the right audience. 'At GoDaddy, we realize how much potential entrepreneurs have—and we also understand how hard it is to turn online effort into real growth,' said Selina Bieber, Vice President of International Markets at GoDaddy. 'That's why we're focused on giving them smart, easy tools like Show in Bio that can help turn social engagement into actual sales, without adding more work.' These hurdles show that while social media is essential, it's not easy. Entrepreneurs need smarter tools and support to turn digital activity into real business growth. The Need for Smarter Tools and AI Support As Saudi entrepreneurs go digital, many know exactly what would help them sell on social. Over half (52%) say they need better ways to reach the right audience, and almost half (48%) want simpler tools for creating and posting content, highlighting a clear demand for practical, time-saving solutions. AI is starting to play a role, especially among proactive business owners. Those already using AI are more likely to want deeper insights into what's working (49% vs. 44% of non-AI users) and more interested in easier tools for creating and posting content (50% vs. 43% of non-AI users). These preferences suggest that small businesses aren't just experimenting with AI—they're looking for smart, focused support that saves time and delivers results. The Opportunity Ahead As more small businesses in UAE move online, the need for effective tools and support continues to grow. GoDaddy is committed to helping entrepreneurs succeed with easy-to-use solutions like Show in Bio, GoDaddy Studio, and GoDaddy Airo® all designed to simplify digital marketing and turn engagement into real results.

No golden visa for digital currency investors in UAE, authorities clarify

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), and the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) have issued a joint statement denying reports circulating on certain websites and social media platforms that claim the UAE grants golden visas to investors in digital currencies. The ICP clarified that golden visas are issued according to clear and officially approved frameworks and criteria, which do not include digital currency investors. Eligible categories include real estate investors, entrepreneurs, exceptional talents, scientists and specialists, top students and graduates, humanitarian pioneers, and frontline workers. The SCA reaffirmed its commitment to internationally recognised standards in regulating the financial sector and securities services in the UAE. It stated that its procedures are designed to ensure transparency, credibility, and bolster investor confidence both locally and internationally, in line with the UAE's strategic goals of attracting quality capital and fostering a sustainable investment environment. The authority further confirmed that digital currency investments are governed by specific regulations and are unrelated to golden visa eligibility. It urged investors to obtain information from credible, official sources to avoid misinformation or fraud. Similarly, VARA denied any claims regarding the issuance of golden visas to virtual asset investors in Dubai. It strongly urged investors and consumers to deal exclusively with fully licensed and regulated companies when engaging in services and investments related to virtual assets. VARA reaffirmed its commitment to the highest standards of risk assurance and effective collaboration with the SCA and relevant federal and local law enforcement entities to maintain a secure operational environment that prioritises consumer protection at all times. It noted that companies licensed by VARA must strictly adhere to the visa procedures outlined by the Government of Dubai and the relevant federal authorities. It also clarified that the company TON is neither licensed nor regulated by VARA. The three authorities collectively urged the public and investors to exercise caution and refer to official government websites and approved communication channels for accurate information. They warned against engaging with unverified advertisements or offers spreading online. For detailed information on golden visa requirements, the public is advised to visit the ICP's official website at Follow Emirates 24|7 on Google News.
