Palestinian journalist Lahham detention prolonged

Saba Yemen07-07-2025
Ramallah - Saba:
The Palestinian Commission of Prisoners' Affairs stated, according to its lawyer, that the Israeli occupation authorities decided to extend the detention of prisoner journalist Nasser al-Lahham and transfer him to the Ofer Military Court until next Thursday.
Israeli forces arrested al-Lahham at dawn today after raiding his home in the town of Doha in the Bethlehem Governorate and completely destroying its contents, according to the Palestinian News Agency.
The number of journalists held in administrative detention in Israeli prisons, under the pretext of a "secret file," is (22), out of (55) in Israeli prisons, including (49) who have been detained since the beginning of the genocide.
The occupation continues to target journalists through what it calls detention on the grounds of "incitement" on social media. This form of detention has become a tool to suppress freedom of opinion and expression, and has become another facet of the crime of administrative detention. The majority of those arrested on the grounds of "incitement," against whom the occupation was unable to present an indictment, were later transferred to Administrative detention.
Journalists detained in enemy prisons and camps face all the same crimes as prisoners, including systematic torture, severe beatings, starvation, and medical neglect, in addition to the ongoing humiliation and abuse they are subjected to. This is in addition to the ongoing policies of theft and deprivation against them, and their detention in harsh and degrading detention conditions.

Yemen's Houthis Claim Three Drone Strikes Inside Israel

Sana'a – Yemen's Houthi movement announced Friday that it had launched three drone strikes deep inside Israeli territory, targeting strategic sites in Lod, Beersheba, and Ashkelon. The attacks mark a dramatic escalation in the group's involvement in the broader Middle East conflict, as it positions itself as a military actor in solidarity with Gaza. Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Houthi-led Yemeni Armed Forces, said in a televised statement that the operations were 'qualitative and successful,' claiming the drones struck Ben Gurion Airport in Lod and undisclosed 'vital targets' in Beersheba and Ashkelon. He warned international shipping companies operating in Israeli ports that their vessels 'will be targeted regardless of destination' unless they cease cooperation. Israeli military sources confirmed that two drones were intercepted without triggering air raid sirens, in line with current defense protocols. However, footage and reports from regional media suggest that at least one drone may have reached its target, causing panic and temporary disruption. The strikes come just days after the Houthis claimed responsibility for launching a hypersonic missile—dubbed 'Palestine-2'—toward Ben Gurion Airport, in retaliation for what they described as Israeli provocations at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

OIC: Decision to Reoccupy Gaza Represents Dangerous Escalation in Ongoing Genocide Crimes

Jeddah – Saba: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned the Zionist enemy's decision to fully reoccupy the Gaza Strip as a dangerous escalation in the ongoing series of genocide crimes, destruction, starvation, displacement, and the Israeli blockade on Gaza. In a statement issued on Friday, the OIC emphasized that these crimes represent a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and a blatant challenge to relevant United Nations resolutions, as well as the legal rulings of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), including the provisional measures ordered by the court. The OIC held the Zionist enemy, the occupying force, fully responsible for the consequences of these crimes, which exacerbate the unprecedented humanitarian suffering in the Gaza Strip. The organization also strongly denounced the dangerous escalation in crimes committed by extremist settler groups under the protection of Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank, including continued settlement expansion, land seizures, home demolitions, repeated attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites, and the ongoing withholding of Palestinian tax revenues. It described these actions as egregious violations of international law and the decisions of the international community. The OIC called on the UN Security Council to take immediate and decisive action to fulfill its responsibilities by enforcing a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire, ensuring the unhindered delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid and basic necessities to all parts of Gaza, providing effective international protection for the Palestinian people, and taking the necessary measures to end the occupation and enable Palestinians to establish their independent and sovereign state on the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, with Quds as its capital.
