Summer Game Fest 2025's Best Horror, Sci-Fi, & Fantasy Trailers
Every year, Summer Game Fest is home to plenty of trailers for all sorts of games, be they major titles or small ones, right around the corner and who knows how far off. We've got a list of the biggest ones in the 2025 showcase, plus those that caught our eye for one reason or another. Let us know your faves in the comments below.
Code Vein II
Bandai Namco had a few flashy action games at Summer Game Fest, and the biggest was Code Vein II. The sequel to 2019's action-RPG will tell a story across two eras and star the player-made Hunter tasked with disposing of Revenants (undead humans with vampiric powers) that've morphed into monsters called Horrors. With the help of a girl named Lou, the Hunter travels across time to change the fates of key Revenants who could help alter the future for the better.
Code Vein II releases in 2026 for PC, XSX|S, and PS5.
End of Abyss
From new developer Section 9 Interactive, End of Abyss is set in a dark sci-fi world where technician Cel investigates a series of disturbances in an underground compound. Said disturbances include ominous audio logs, something strange on the walls, and monsters around the area, some of which can multiply. Look for End of Abyss to hit in 2026 for PS5, XSX|S, and PC on the Epic Games Store.
Atomic Heart II & The Cube
Remember Atomic Heart from a few years ago? It's getting two continuations from developer Mundfish. The first, Atomic Heart II, is billed as a 'spiritual successor' to the first game, and will feature more RPG elements for players to dig into while exploring the series' retrofuturist alt-history universe.
Then there's The Cube, an open-world MMO wherein players explore an ever-changing structure and face enemies to get more gear, get higher numbers, and do it all again. Neither it nor Atomic Heart II have set dates, but when they do, they'll presumably release for PC, PS5, and XSX|S.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion
Summer Game Fest featured a trailer for Cosmic Invasion showing two new heroes coming to the 2D beat-em-up: She-Hulk and Rocket Raccoon. (Noticeably sans Groot, unlike the duo's recent appearances in Marvel Rivals and Guardians of the Galaxy.) Jen's got her strength, Rocket's got his claws and guns, they're both helping the previously revealed heroes like Quasar, Storm, and Spider-Man repel the Annihilation Wave moving through the galaxy.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion releases on PS4 and 5, XSX|S, and PC later this year.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Capcom's looking to bring back some franchises it's left behind in recent years, starting with Onimusha. We already knew the next entry, Way of the Sword, sees protagonist Musashi use his katana to slice up demonic Genma in Edo-era Japan. But the new trailer introduces his rival Sasaki Ganryu and reveals the Oni Gauntlet around Musashi's wrist lets him summon a young woman to talk to. What else can the Gauntlet do, and why do he and Ganryu have them? We'll find out when Onimusha: Way of the Sword comes in 2026 for PC and consoles.
Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver
Even if you don't listen to hip-hop, you surely know Wu-Tang Clan or its members by reputation. Developer Brass Lion Entertainment's Rise of the Deceiver asks players a very important question: how would you like to save Ghostface Killah's Wu brothers, then fight alongside them and use their powers against the titular Deceiver? If that sounds fun to you, the co-op action-RPG—featuring writing from io9 alum Evan Narcisse—is hitting PC sometime in 2026.
Mio: Memories in Orbit
For the Metroidvania fans, Mio: Memories in Orbit made an appearance at the event. In it, players explore the massive technological ark known as the Vessel, which is home to rogue machines. It falls to Mio to save the Vessel's residents while hacking the machines to bits and gaining new abilites to explore the space station when the game comes out later this year for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and X|S, and PS4 and 5. Fractured Blooms
Described as a cross between Doki Doki Literature Club and Silent Hill, Serenity Forge's Fractured Blooms stars Angie, a girl stuck in a time loop. While figuring out how to break it, she cooks, grows food, and helps the locals, all of which may be key to figuring out how to get to the next day. But with each new loop comes some kind of shift in the day, like someone remembering Angie's past actions, or the cycle pushing back against her. Should any of that intrigue you, Fractured Blooms will release on PC in the near future.
Mina the Hollower
Yacht Club Games' debut title was 2014's Shovel Knight, and it was so big the studio expanded on it with several post-launch campaigns and spinoff titles. The studio's next project, Mina the Hollower, is a top-down action-adventure starring a genius mouse inventor studying the Earth. With her whip and 'hollowing' ability that lets her move quickly underground, Mina explores Tenebrous Isle and looks to free it from its curse.
Mina the Hollower releases October 31 for PC, Xbox One and X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PS4 and 5. There's a free demo out now for Steam players on PC, which you can download here.
Deadpool VR
It's been over a decade since Deadpool headlined a solo game, now here he is back in the spotlight for a VR title. Meta Quest 3 and 3S owners will inhabit the Merc With a Mouth as he kills enemies, cracks wise, and swears in the voice of Neil Patrick Harris while visiting different locations across the Marvel Universe. VR and the first-person perspective also offers creative, Wade-like ways to kill enemies, from simply shooting or stabbing them to shoving their face into a propeller or feeding them to a monster.
Deadpool VR launches in late 2025.
Scott Pilgrim EX
Scott Pilgrim's story never truly ends. Developer Tribute unveiled Scott Pilgrim EX at Summer Game Fest, which sees Scott and Ramona Flowers team up with five other playable characters to fight the Vegans, Robots, and Goths that've taken over Toronto. EX looks to be a sequel to Netflix's Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, and has that show's co-creators Bryan Lee O'Malley (who created the original comic) and BenDavid Grabinski involved. Also along for the ride are animator Paul Robertson and musician Anamanaguchi, who both contributed to Ubisoft's cult classic tie-in game (also a beat-em-up!) from 2010.
Scott Pilgrim EX comes to PC and consoles in 2026.
Ill
From Team Clout and Mundfish Powerhouse, the first-person horror game Ill has plenty of zombies (both clothed and naked), gore, and body horror to make clear it's gonna be a freaky time. If that weren't enough, a swarm of zombie babies rushing the player might underline things. Fortunately, you can kick those little terrors away. Unfortunately, there's plenty of other hostile stuff that wants to kill you in the research fort you're exploring when the game comes out for PC, PS5, and XSX|S in the near future.
Infinitesimals
First-time developer Cubit Studios revealed Infinitesimals, and like the name implies, stars small characters waging a big war against one another. Captain Awkney's hoping to find a new home for his people, and to do that, he'll have to fight enemy soldiers his own size and bigger animals like ants, birds, and spiders. It looks like Halo mixed with A Bug's Life, and it's coming to Epic Games Store, PS5, and XSX|S in 2026.
Resident Evil: Requiem
Closing out Summer Game Fest was Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline game in the survival horror series. FBI agent Grace Ashcroft—daughter of Resident Evil Outbreak's Alyssa—is tasked with looking into an incident at a hotel that also happens to be where her mother was killed. Things aren't right at the hotel, and Grace is gonna be through hell. And that's just the start, as part of her journey might involve a trip back to the bombed Racoon City.
We'll see what terrors there await when Resident Evil Requiem comes out on February 27, 2026 for PC, XSX|S, and PS5.

Olivia Munn reveals she ‘felt like an expectant father' while waiting for her daughter to arrive via surrogate
Olivia Munn knows that in the end it worked out exactly as it should. Although while the actress, 44, was waiting for the arrival of her second child, daughter Méi, now 8 months, via surrogate, she wasn't sure she felt totally connected. Munn, who also shares son Malcom, 3, with husband John Mulaney told People in an interview published Saturday, that waiting for Méi to be born 'was the first time I was like, 'Oh wait, is this what it's like to be an expectant dad?'' 'A lot of times people say, 'Oh, the dads don't really connect with the baby until it's right there in front of them,' ' she explained. 'The dads, they're not carrying the baby. I carried Malcolm, so I understood from the very genesis, like, okay, I've got a life in me. Your body is changing and your energy is changing and your hair is changing and everything's changing, so it feels very real all the time.' This time around, Munn and Mulaney, 42, opted for a surrogate after the 'Buddy Games' alum underwent a double mastectomy and hysterectomy following her breast cancer diagnosis. 'Even though it all felt very real for me, and our surrogate and I spoke all the time and she'd send me videos, it was a little bit of, 'Oh wait, she's coming,'' Munn continued. 'I felt like an expectant father.' 'It was important to do it at that moment, but it was also scary because my type of cancer feeds on hormones, and there are a lot of hormone injections with IVF,' the 'Your Friends & Neighbors' star said about deciding to do an egg retrieval before her cancer surgeries. After the procedure, Munn shared she was able to retrieve seven eggs, with two of the embryos being 'strong enough to be tested for abnormalities and the gender.' 'I remember I was on a walk with John, and I said, 'I really don't think that I'll be okay unless we get two girl embryos. I know this puts me at risk, but I just need you to support me,' ' Munn recounted. 'He said, 'Whatever you need.' ' The Hollywood vet's doctor then called and confirmed she had two healthy female embryos. As Munn put it, 'that was a sign for me everything was going to be okay.' And when it came to choosing a surrogate to carry their daughter, one thing in particular mattered most: 'The number one thing that I wanted in a surrogate was someone who was kind.' She added, 'I just wanted her to be kind, and I needed her to understand that this is a path that I had to go on. This is not a choice I would've made for myself.' 'The first thing I worried about was if I would be able to find somebody who would love and take care of my daughter as much as I would,' Munn went on. 'We were so lucky to find someone so kind who we bonded with so much.' Despite finding someone they trusted, 'The Daily Show' alum 'had a concern of 'Will my daughter know me?' ' Once their little one arrived, all worries washed away for the mom-of-two. 'Méi would cry, and I was the only one who could get her to stop,' she said. 'I knew she knew me, and I knew her. She's got this stick-straight hair that I had when I was a baby. I think because I wasn't able to carry her, I really needed to see myself in her. I see myself in her so much.' Looking at where her life is now, two years after receiving a life altering cancer diagnosis, Munn gushed: 'It's so crazy to think that I'm sitting here with two amazing babies. I'm just so happy and grateful, and I'm really proud of what I've been able to do. I didn't know how much strength I had inside me.' Elsewhere in the interview, the 'Attack of the Show!' vet admitted that she and her other half might not be entirely done having kids. The pair still have one viable frozen female embryo. 'Two [kids] is a lot,' she told the outlet. 'We're still talking if we are done growing our family.' In May, Mulaney took a moment to praise his wife of almost a year. The comedian said while on the SiriusXM podcast, 'Where Everybody Knows Your Name,' 'I always look back on her the when she was diagnosed in April [2023], through that whole year and go, 'She wasn't just courageous, but she was also so fun … like, we had so much fun.' ' 'It's weird; I go through iPhone photos and I go, 'Oh that's you, me, and Malcolm in the backyard with the kiddie pool when he decided to just pour so many pebbles into the storm drain and clog it up and whatever it was,' and … that was 3 weeks after your lymph node dissection.' Mulaney noted that 'it wasn't just the courage of it. She also was just giving us — it's always just her greatest best self throughout it.'

Cloudy skies can't dim joy as thousands fill nation's capital for World Pride parade
WASHINGTON — Gray skies and drizzle gave way to sunshine, multicolored flags and celebrations as the nation's capital held the World Pride parade Saturday. Tens of thousands of people participated in parades and other festivities, in defiance of what activists say is an unprecedented assault on the LGBTQ+ community that challenges the rights many have fought for over the years. A rainbow flag the length of three football fields flowed through the streets, carried by 500 members of the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington, D.C., to kick off the parade. Behind them, people waved Pride flags and flags representing the transgender, asexual and bisexual communities from atop a bus. Singer-songwriter and actor Reneé Rapp laughed and blew kisses from the back of a pickup truck draped with a transgender flag while Laverne Cox, a transgender actress and activist known for her role in Netflix's 'Orange is the New Black,' waved from an open convertible. 'Pride means us looking out for each other no matter what,' she declared to the crowd as the convertible rolled to a stop. 'We know how to be there for each other.' Many LGBTQ+ travelers have expressed concerns or decided to skip World Pride due to anxieties about safety, border policies and a hostile political climate that they say hearkens back to another time . But that did not keep international travelers and other participants away, with groups visible from Iran, Namibia, Kenya and Russia. Along the parade route, hundreds gathered outside the National City Christian Church as rainbow flags and balloons lined its steps and columns. A child with rainbow face paint blew bubbles at the base of the steps while Whitney Houston's 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody' blared from loudspeakers.' 'D.C. is already one of the biggest cities in the country for celebrating Pride,' said Cheo White, 33, from Annapolis, Maryland, 'But we are all collectively more united and turning out more because of what's happening in the White House.' Many have said the gathering has taken on a new meaning amid the Trump administration's aggressive policies against protections for transgender Americans and diversity, equity and inclusion programs. White's partner, Nick Kerver, 26, who was visiting from Toledo, Ohio, said Pride has 'always been a political tool' but has taken on more importance this year amid mounting threats to the LGBTQ+ community, especially transgender and nonbinary Americans.' 'It feels more important than ever,' Kerver said while wearing a rainbow hat, sunglasses and a T-shirt. 'But we also have to get involved in our local communities too.' David Begler, a 58-year-old gay man from Philadelphia, expressed disappointment that many international travelers felt unsafe visiting D.C. for World Pride but said he appreciates its presence in the city during this political climate. 'It's the perfect time to have World Pride in D.C.,' Begler said. 'We need it right now. I want us to send a message to the White House to focus on uplifting each other instead of dividing.' Stay DeRoux, 36, usually plans a day trip to D.C. Pride from her home in Fredericksburg, Virginia. But this year, she and her wife, Deenie DeRoux, planned a full weekend. ''This is a really big year,' Stay DeRoux said. 'There's been a lot of turmoil. So it's an amazing thing to be among allies, among people who love because we've experienced so much hate on a daily basis.' For the day, the idea of threats and opposition took a backseat to the celebration. Streets were closed, but filled with floats, and impromptu parties broke out with music and food in streets adjoining the parade route. Johnny Cervantes Jr., dressed in a black suit and top hat, headed to a grandstand at a church themed float to marry his partner of 28 years, Freddie Lutz, owner of Freddie's Beach Bar and Restaurant in Arlington, Virginia. Events culminate tomorrow with a rally and protest March Sunday and a giant street party and concert covering a multi-block stretch of Pennsylvania Avenue. 'This is World Pride in the best city in the world,' Mayor Muriel Bowser declared as she walked the parade hand-in-hand with her daughter, Miranda. ___
