TV presenter and model Vogue Williams revealed she 'thought her life was over' after divorcing Westlife singer Brian McFadden on the latest installment of the Mail's 'The Life of Bryony' podcast.
In a candid conversation with Mail columnist Bryony Gordon, 'relationship girl' Vogue, 39, reflected on her love life ahead of turning forty.
She remembered feeling as though she had 'ruined her life' in 2017 after her divorce at 31 from Westlife singer Brian McFadden.
The Irish mother-of-three revealed her joy at having built a happy family life with Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews, 36, despite the constant 'outside noise' that surrounds the celebrity couple.
'I am excited at turning forty', Vogue told the podcast.
'When you are 19 or 20, you think that forty-year-olds are really old and battered. Then you actually get there and you think, this is a really nice moment.
'In your thirties, you are still trying to figure stuff out. I remember being divorced at 31 and thinking, I've ruined my life. I am never going to have kids, I am never going to do what I always wanted to do.
'Then you see how your life actually starts to unfold – that's why it feels exciting to move into your forties.'
In her eagerly awaited autobiography Big Mouth, Vogue details her struggles with anxiety that have cast a shadow throughout her adulthood.
Vogue told Bryony she manages the disorder far better now, with a 'great' and supportive family behind her.
However, the model admitted that the 'noise' surrounding her marriage to TV star Spencer Matthews still manages to get under her skin.
Vogue and Spencer have been married since 2018 and share three children together, Theodore, Gigi, and Otto.
On her anxiety, Vogue explained: 'It's this thing in your life that you wish would just go away. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it's a lot worse.
'When I wake up, I am really conscious of any mood I could be in. It's why I don't drink much now because that is something for me that is a huge trigger of anxiety.
'I will always have beta-blockers in the cupboard, but I rarely take them. It depends on what's happening in my life.
'For me now, it's more the outside noise of my job and people outside of my family that stress me out.
'In this industry, certain people are very much out for themselves. The way they portray themselves isn't true - it's not actually who they are.'
Vogue specified that the 'constant spreading of rumours and cr*p' within the celebrity world takes a toll on her and her family.
'We live in a world now where it's possible for literally any random person to get a thought in their head and spread it around', she said.
'What do you do? You have to just constantly bat off rumours and cr*p that you know isn't true. Me and Spencer choose the route of just letting it go over our heads.
'There's always going to be people who spread gossip, you have to leave them to it.
'I have a great family, I am happy at the moment. I don't need to be worried about what anyone else is saying.'
Vogue then recounted her first meeting with 'toyboy' Spencer Matthews and her hunch that she shouldn't 'go for him.'
'After my divorce, I wanted to go and be worldly: live a life going on loads of dates – it just didn't happen.
'When I met Spencer, I knew I shouldn't go for him. I based that on what others had said about him. But, when you meet him, you're just drawn to him.
'You want to be in his company. He's funny, he's self-deprecating. Quite Irish in that sense.
'I didn't realise how young he was when we met – he's my little toy boy.'
