The dangerous stunt was filmed in Australia earlier this year and amassed almost half a million views before it was deleted.
An unnerving video captures the shirtless influencer standing barefoot in the water before forcefully plucking the animal from the creek.
The creature appears distressed as he flails his tail, while being gripped firmly around the neck.
Speaking in a voiceover, Colton said: "Hey guys, I'm in Australia right now, and we just yoinked a freshwater croc,' Macaulay explained in a voiceover.
"I don't think he was happy about it because he started making these sounds like a chainsaw. Or maybe that's the sound they make when they decide to cry like a little b***h.'
The bizarre video, captioned "catching crocodiles in Australia", has since received a barrage of criticism.
One concerned viewer said: "How stupid are you?"
While others condemned the act as "thoughtless", calling the influencer "stupid" and a "moron".
Meanwhile, World Animal Protection Australia director Ben Pearson slammed the handling of the croc as "unacceptable", calling it "cruelty for the sake of content".
He told the Mail Online: "This is cruelty for the sake of content, and we know the general public would agree handling freshwater crocs in this way is unacceptable.
American influencer sparks outrage in Australia after taking baby wombat from its mom- heads to follow
"Crocodiles are not a photo prop or plaything, and they should be treated with respect.
"Just a quick look at this influencer's account and you can see multiple videos where they're interfering with Aussie wildlife in their homes, from cassowaries to wobbegong sharks.
"Our iconic Australian animals, like all wildlife, are best loved from a distance."
Freshwater crocodiles are native to northern Australia and whilst not considered dangerous they can bite if they feel threatened.
A permit is required to handle them.
Colton's shocking video comes just months after an American hunting influencer sparked outrage after she filmed a video of herself snatching a baby wombat from its mother.
Sam Jones, who claims to be a "wildlife biologist and environmental scientist" posted the now deleted video on Instagram capturing the moment she picked up the animal and ran with it as it dangled around in the air.
After racing across the road with the startled wombat, Jones held it up to the camera and said: "I caught a baby wombat!"
Meanwhile, the baby wombat's mother chased after Jones, appearing extremely distressed.
This was noticed by the man filming the video who said: "Look at the mother, it's chasing after her."
Jones said: 'OK mama's right there and she is p***ed, let's let him go."

Nova star Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald confronted by fan live on air after the 'hungover' radio host was rude to her at a party: 'Disappointed'
Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald has been confronted by a fan live on air after he refused to take a photo with her after a party. The fan, named Joanne, called into Nova's Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie show on Tuesday when the hosts requested stories on celebrity encounters. Joanne said she approached Fitzy after a party and asked for a selfie - only to be rebuffed. 'Oh well I was a fan of his for ages... this tall, handsome man, and we were at a party, and I asked him if I could have a photo, and he said no!' Joanne explained. 'What! Who was it?' Fitzy's co-host Michael 'Wippa' Wipfli asked, to which Joanne replied, 'Your friend, Fitzy!' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Fitzy was shocked by the confession, replying, 'Give me a break. I'm always accommodating Joanne, are you serious?' 'I'm serious. You were probably a bit hungover at the time as we all were,' Joanne said with a laugh. 'This was ages ago, we were both at the same function place in Terry Hills,' she added. 'When the party finished we were all in the foyer there. But you made up for it in the end.' Fitzy asked: 'How did I make up for it? Because I'm really disappointed in myself!' All's well that ends well, Joanne assured the worried radio star, explaining she later got a selfie with him at another event. 'Because I got a photo with you both when Wippa used to have his running club at Hyde Park!' she said. Ryan became a household name by appearing on Channel 10's Big Brother back in 2004. The 48-year-old recently revealed the surprising amount he was paid to appear on the then controversial reality show. He debunked rumours the cast were raking in the big bucks during his time on the ratings juggernaut. 'A lot of people thought that we got paid a motza when we were on Big Brother. It was $100 a day,' Ryan revealed. While this may seem a pittance, even by 2004 standards, Ryan added that he wasn't perturbed by his paycheck given his lack of expenditures during his reality show stint. 'This is the thing. I was in there for three months and you're not spending that money on anything so it's a long time. It's a good little whack when you get out,' he said. Ryan, who finished fourth on the show's fourth season behind winner Trevor Butler and runners-up Bree Amer and Paul Dyer, said there were some fringe benefits thrown in to soften the blow of his meagre money. 'Back in 2004 when I was on Big Brother, I mean I finished fourth, but I left the show with a Mitsubishi Lancer, a trip to New Caledonia, I think I got a TAG Heuer watch, which I've got somewhere around here,' he said.

The horrifying never-seen-before parent-child spider bloodbath that David Attenborough says will 'chill to the bone'
This is the 'bone chilling' moment a colony of newborn African spiders turn to hunt their own mothers. The footage was captured for David Attenborough 's new series Parenthood. In the never before seen behaviour, a pack of African social spiders are shown hunting in packs and responding to the vibrations of their prey as they struggle in the webs. The spiders move in unison, starting and stopping at the same time, freezing together in a sinister game of musical statues. Even more disturbing, after displaying their hunting skills on their usual prey of insects, the 1,000 strong colony then turns on their own mothers and eat them alive. Sir David was both 'delighted and horrified' by the groundbreaking footage when he narrated it, series producer and director Jeff Wilson told The Guardian. 'I never heard Sir David deliver a sequence as good as that … it sort of brings a lump to your throat … he's the master at deliver,' Wilson said. The terrifying footage is accompanied with eerie music by Mulan and Ted Lasso composer Tom Howe. Wilson said the footage is among the best he has worked on in 30 years and is likely to chill parents 'to the bone'. He joked: 'There will not be a parent of the land who won't turn up to school pickup without snacks ever again.' Scientists believe the ageing spiders deliberately mimic their struggling prey, making vibrations to attract their young spiders to provide the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the survival of their offspring. The video has been compared to another breakout moment in 2016 ahead of the release of Planet Earth II, when footage of an iguana against hundreds of snakes went viral. The astonishing television showed marine iguanas attempting to outrun a knot of racer snakes on Fernandina Island was labelled 'the stuff of nightmares'. Hatchlings could be seen emerging from the sand of the Galápagos island in the Pacific Ocean in June for what is the snakes' best feeding opportunity of the year. The footage showed some iguanas outrun the snakes to safety by the sea while others were caught before the snakes wrapped themselves around them. When the crew saw the snakes for the first time, they were too shocked to film - and host Sir David Attenborough had never seen anything like it either, it was claimed. Among the millions of viewers captivated by the footage shown at 8pm last night was Olympic rower Will Satch, who described it as a 'real life horror film'. The new footage of the African social spiders is likely to spark a debate among parents about what sacrifices they are willing to make for their children. African social spiders live in large nests of up to 50 adult sisters, who hunt together in packs within the nests to engulf prey that becomes trapped in the spider webs. Each mother lays up to 50 eggs. When they hatch , the mother feeds her spiderlings with regurgitated 'milk' made from decomposing her own insides. The shocking footage was captured in Namibia and has never been seen before by television audiences. Parenthood is also set to feature stories of gorillas, orangutans, elephants and cheetahs among many others. The footage was captured over three years and over six continent's and is the first BBC natural history series to focus on parenting. The team used new technology to capture the weird and wonderful in the wild, including using military-grade infrared cameras mounted on gimbals on off-road vehicles o show hippos being chased by lions at night. Parenthood airs on Sunday, August 3 at 7.20pm on BBC One. All episodes will be available on BBC iPlayer.
