Bond issue finances upgrades to McDonald County Schools' exteriors
MCDONALD COUNTY, Mo. — Six FEMA-related storm shelters, and a multitude of interior renovations are complete, but that's not all that's being done within the McDonald County School District.
Work now involves a whole lot of asphalt. Crews are making exterior improvements to all of its campuses, many of which have gravel parking lots and roads. Work that was being done Tuesday morning outside Pineville Elementary.
Parking lots and other areas at Anderson, White Rock, Southwest City and the Mustang Academy are getting upgrades.
Work outside the high school has already wrapped up.
'Everyone is really excited about having the parking lots done. It makes our schools look nicer. It makes our whole community look nicer. Everyone's excited about it. Not just our school staff, but our community is excited, as well,' said Dr. Eric Findley, McDonald County Schools Supt.
'We're the hub here at the high school. All of the buses come through here. They all originate here, and they all end up here in the morning and leave out of here in the afternoon. So, this road here behind the high school. It's probably the busiest dirt road in the county before now.'
The projects are being funded by the 21-and-a-half million bond issue voters approved in 2022.

Eyewitness Weather for Friday, June 13th: Looking Quiet with Showers Around (Again)!
Eyewitness News Meteorologist Jordan Reed has a look at the weather for the next few days. Things are going to get more active later tonight and into the weekend! Some showers and possibly a few thunderstorms might pop up this evening, especially in the southern areas. It's a little uncertain how far north the rain will get, but there should be at least some wet weather overnight into Saturday. Saturday—Flag Day—will likely stay unsettled, with more chances for showers throughout the day. Looking ahead to Father's Day on Sunday, it'll be cool and cloudy with occasional showers, but no real threat of thunderstorms since the atmosphere won't be unstable enough. Sunday night looks damp, too, with some lingering showers or drizzle. Monday brings a slight warm-up and maybe a few peeks of sun, but scattered showers are still expected. It should start to dry out Monday night, though the clouds will probably stick around. From Tuesday through Thursday, we'll start to feel more like summer. Each day will be a bit warmer, and by midweek, highs should be climbing into the 80s. There's a daily chance for a pop-up shower or storm in the afternoons, thanks to the heat. Then a cold front is expected late Thursday or Thursday night, bringing a better shot at more widespread rain and storms. CI Road Trip: Wildlife Prairie Park
HANNA CITY, Ill. (WMBD) — Chief Meteorologist Chris Yates was in Hanna City on Friday for our CI Road Trip. Chris was visiting Wildlife Prairie Park for its Wild Nights event. During the event, the park stays open until 8:30 p.m. every Friday in June, July and August. Some of the extra events that will be happening at the park will include the 2025 Wildfire Concert series and the Jr. Naturalist Classes. While learning about the event, Chris got to watch some wolves beat the heat with a blood popsicle. He also got to visit with a western hog-nosed snake.
