The weapon, codenamed Project Volley, must be robust, simple to use, weigh no more than 275kg, and fire at least five drones in four minutes at speeds of 200kmph.
The MoD put out a message to industry, known as a 'notice for contracts', and will potentially give the launchers to Ukraine.
It said: 'The user will use the launcher in a high-threat environment with persistent enemy surveillance.
'Therefore it must create a minimal signature — acoustic, heat, visual when used, eg hiding in plain sight.'

It comes after Ukraine claimed to have destroyed at least 41 Russian aircraft on Sunday with 117 drones hidden on cargo trucks.
They were in pre-fabricated sheds that were loaded on to flatbed trucks and driven across Russia.
As they neared airfields, the roofs of the sheds flipped open and the drones took off.
They destroyed Tu-95 and Tu-22 long-range bombers and prized A-50 Beriev command and control aircraft.

Russia continues to launch drone strikes of its own, including one on a residential area in Kharkiv yesterday.
The MoD's notice stressed urgency by saying that it is not interested in solutions 'that will not be ready for UK field demonstration or testing in October'.

The MoD said Project Volley was part of a £5billion investment in 'advanced new weapons' based on lessons learned from Ukraine.
It added: 'This investment will improve accuracy and lethality for our Armed Forces, while boosting UK export potential.'

South Park 'not holding back' as more of Trump's administration get taken down
South Park season 27 has returned for a second episode that once again did not pull its punches when covering the Donald Trump administration. The target of Trey Parker and Matt Stone's satire this time around was largely Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, 53, as well as Vice President JD Vance, 41. The latest episode, Got A Nut, featured Noem shooting dogs dead, when she's not imprisoning immigrants through the government's ICE programme. It comes after the season's premiere episode caused an almighty stir over its depiction of President Donald Trump as a litigious sex pest who was in a relationship with Satan – this storyline also continued into the second episode – displaying cartoon depictions of his nude body several times. Noem has now been given similarly scathing treatment on the show, as a bulletproof vest-clad animated version of her in seen pursuing Dora the Explorer, while the episode also riffs on the former South Dakota governor's 2024 admission that she once killed her own dog. In her book (deep breath) No Going Back: The Truth on What's Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward, Noem detailed killing her wirehaired pointer Cricket one day during hunting season and used the account to show her willingness to do things that are 'difficult, messy and ugly' in politics. South Park's animated Noem says in the episode: 'A few years ago I had to put my puppy down by shooting it in the face, because sometimes doing what's important means doing what's hard.' Noem is also portrayed as heavily Botoxed, with her facial features often inadvertently drooping downwards. In one scene from the long-running no-holds-barred comedy, her face starts to crawl around the floors of Trump's Mar-a-Lago home. (Yes, really.) Noem is the eighth person to hold her position at Homeland Security and was previously South Dakota's first ever female governor. On the Homeland Security website she is described as: 'A South Dakota native, Secretary Noem is a rancher, farmer, small business owner, and proud mother and grandmother.' Dubbed 'ICE Barbie', she has defended US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials and has carried out Trump's hardline immigration agenda. The 53-year-old was a strong contender to be named as Trump's running mate in last year's US election, before Vance took the spot. This was around the time that Noem was sued by a consumer advocacy group for promoting a cosmetic dental company who she said had fixed her teeth, without disclosing she had a financial relationship with the company. Also featured is Vice President JD Vance as a small manbaby with a memified inflated face, towed along in cut-out Trump's wake as the President insults and belittles him. At one point, Trump kicks small-sized Vance off screen, as if he were a football. The new episode aired after the official Homeland Security X account posted a screenshot from the South Park teaser, using it as a recruitment advertisement with a link to join the law enforcement agency. The official South Park X account responded to the post, asking: 'Wait, so we ARE relevant?' Their reply referenced the White House's response to the first episode of this season, in which they claimed the show was 'fourth-rate' and no longer had any cultural capital. South Park fans would beg to differ, as many took to social media to hail the second episode as an instant classic. @mmpadellan posted a series of fire emojis, declaring: 'These guys are NOT holding back.' The uninhabited island being converted into a Gaza medical facility
Indonesia is set to convert a medical facility on its uninhabited Galang Island to treat about 2,000 wounded residents of Gaza, a presidential spokesperson announced on Thursday. The Muslim-majority nation has previously sent humanitarian aid to Gaza after Israel started an offensive in October 2023 that Gaza health officials say has killed more than 60,000 Palestinians, whether fighters or non-combatants. "Indonesia will give medical help for about 2,000 Gaza residents who became victims of war, those who are wounded, buried under debris," spokesperson Hasan Nasbi told reporters, adding that the exercise was not an evacuation. Indonesia plans to allocate the facility on Galang island, off its island of Sumatra and south of Singapore, to treat wounded Gaza residents and temporarily shelter their families, he said, adding that nobody lives around it now. The patients would be taken back to Gaza after they had healed, he said. Hasan did not give a timeframe or further details, referring questions to Indonesia's foreign and defence ministries, which did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment. The plan comes months after President Prabowo Subianto's offer to shelter wounded Palestinians drew criticism from Indonesia's top clerics for seeming too close to U.S. President Donald Trump 's suggestion of permanently moving Palestinians out of Gaza. In response to Trump's suggestion, the foreign ministry of Indonesia, which backs a two-state solution to resolve the Middle East crisis, said at the time it "strongly rejects any attempt to forcibly displace Palestinians". A hospital to treat victims of the COVID-19 pandemic opened in 2020 on Galang, which had been, until 1996, a sprawling refugee camp run by the United Nations, housing 250,000 of those who fled the Vietnam War.

Donald Trump's bizarre plan confirmed as new pictures show major White House change
The US President seems very excited about changes he's making - but the latest has confirmed people's worst fears Donald Trump has made another change to the White House - and his plan is becoming even more clear. The US President has been talking exuberantly about his plan to give the White House "much needed renovations" during his presidency. During his first Presidency, Trump was reported to have complained that the White House is not to his taste - allegedly branding it "a real dump". So this time around he's decided to make some changes. It comes after Trump was seen wandering on the White House roof - and making an unusual arm gesture. The first and most obvious change was the lashings of gold he applied to the Oval Office. He also added a pair of enormous mirrors to the walls of the most famous office in the world. And his latest change has made it clear that what he's actually trying to do is make the so-called People's House into a replica of Mar A Lago, his Palm Beach resort and clubhouse. Trump famously loves holding court on the patio at Mar A Lago, glad-handing with hangers-on and holding court for people trying to gain his favour. So when he made the decision to pave over the White House's iconic rose garden to create a white patio, it raised many eyebrows. And last night, suspicions were confirmed as tables, chairs and umbrellas appeared on the new patio. The chairs and and yellow and white umbrellas are identical to those found on the Mar A Lago terrace. Last week the White House published images of Trump's plan to tack a huge ballroom onto the side of the East Wing. The artist impressions of what the ballroom will look like closely resemble the Versailles-esque ballroom at Mar A Lago. It's prompted questions about why Trump would spend so much of - reportedly - his own money on splashing his own taste and preferences on a building he legally has to move out of in three and a half years. The East Room, the largest room in the White House, can accommodate about 200 people. Trump said he's been planning the construction for some time. "They've wanted a ballroom at the White House for more than 150 years but there's never been a president that was good at ballrooms," Trump told reporters Thursday. "I'm good at building things and we're going to build quickly and on time. It'll be beautiful, top, top of the line." He said the new ballroom would not interfere with the mansion itself. "It'll be near it but not touching it and pays total respect to the existing building, which I'm the biggest fan of," he said of the White House. "It's my favorite. It's my favorite place. I love it." Trump said the ballroom will serve administrations to come. "It'll be a great legacy project," he said. "I think it will be really beautiful." The 90,000-square-foot ballroom will be built where the East Wing sits with a seated capacity of 650 people. The East Wing houses several offices, including the first lady's. Those offices will be temporarily relocated during construction and that wing of the building will be modernized and renovated, said White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. "Nothing will be torn down," she said. White House chief of staff Susie Wiles said the president and his White House are "fully committed" to working with the appropriate organizations to preserve the mansion's "special history." Leavitt said at her briefing last Thursday that Trump and other donors have committed to raising the approximately $200 million in construction costs. She did not name any of the other donors. The president chose McCrery Architects, based in Washington, as lead architect on the project. The construction team will be led by Clark Construction. Engineering will be provided by AECOM. Trump also has another project in mind. He told NBC News in an interview that he intends to replace what he said was a "terribly" remodelled bathroom in the famous Lincoln Bedroom with one that is closer in style to the 19th century.
