Final hockey rankings: Landon boys, St. John's girls finish the year on top

Washington Post11-03-2025
Playoff hockey is unpredictable, as this boys' hockey season well proved. Upsets occurred in every local bracket. St. John's, the top team in The Washington Post's midseason rankings, fell in both the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference and the Mid-Atlantic Prep Hockey League playoffs. Even Landon, the new No. 1, was shocked by Georgetown Prep in the Interstate Athletic Conference championship before winning the MAPHL.

Eagles' trade acquisition likely to miss rest of preseason with injury

Landon Dickerson isn't the only Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman dealing with an injury. Eagles guard Kenyon Green is likely to miss the rest of the preseason after suffering a shoulder injury during last Thursday's game against the Bengals, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Green is considered 'week-to-week' with his injury, per Schefter's Tuesday report. Green was acquired by the Eagles earlier this offseason. Philadelphia traded safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson and a sixth-round pick to the Houston Texans for Green and a fifth-round pick back in March. The Eagles were hoping Green, a 2022 first-round pick out of Texas A&M, could have a career renaissance with offensive line guru Jeff Stoutland. That has not been the case so far. Green has fallen short of providing Tyler Steen with any sort of competition at right guard. Steen has unofficially secured the starting role in training camp. Meanwhile, Green has exclusively worked at left guard this offseason, and it remains to be seen if he'll make the 53-man roster. The Eagles find themselves in a difficult spot depth-wise on the interior of their offensive line. Dickerson, the three-time Pro Bowler, suffered a knee injury in Sunday's open practice. He avoided a dreaded ACL tear, and there's reportedly hope he'll be back in time for the regular season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 4. But it's still less than ideal. Joint practices this week with the Cleveland Browns, followed by a Saturday preseason game, should offer more insight on how the Eagles plan to replace Dickerson for the time being.

Eagles Pro Bowler Landon Dickerson to reportedly have minor knee surgery, will be week-to-week

Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson will undergo minor knee surgery for a meniscus injury, per multiple reports. He will reportedly be week-to-week after the procedure, with the goal of returning for the regular season. It's a best-case scenario for Dickerson, who was carted off of the field during practice on Sunday after injuring his knee. The Eagles were potentially facing a longer absence from the guard depending on the extent of the injury. Dickerson fell to the ground awkwardly following a pass play near the end of Sunday's practice. He remained down on the field for some time before being helped to the cart. Dickerson did not appear to be capable of putting a ton of weight on his leg as he made his way to the cart. The 26-year-old is one of the key cogs in Philadelphia's excellent offensive line. After being selected by the team in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Dickerson started 13 games as a rookie. He became a full-time starter with the team the following year, making his first Pro Bowl appearance. Dickerson also made the Pro Bowl in both 2023 and 2024, marking three straight seasons in which he's received the honor. He appeared in all four of the Eagles' playoff games last season, protecting Jalen Hurts and opening holes for Saquon Barkley en route to the team's first Super Bowl win since the 2017 season. Following the 2024 NFL season, Dickerson signed a four-year, $84 million extension that will keep him in Philadelphia through 2028. At the time, it was the biggest contract ever given to an NFL guard.
