DEARBORN, Mich., June 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The Henry Ford is proud to announce the return of RTX Invention Convention U.S. Nationals to its campus June 4-6, 2025. This event is in its tenth year and will once again be hosted in Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. After advancing from state and regional competitions, nearly 500 K-12 students from across the country will display and present their inventions to judges alongside the greatest innovations in American history.
The multi-day competition culminates on Friday, June 6, with an awards ceremony hosted by entertainment and technology television and podcast host and former The Henry Ford's Innovation Nation correspondent Albert Lawrence.
Former NASA aerospace engineer, entrepreneur, and citizen astronaut Aisha Bowe will join as a special guest speaker. As the founder of LINGO, Bowe is a nationally recognized advocate for STEM education and youth innovation. In April of 2025, she flew aboard Blue Origin's historic all-female mission.
More than 75 awards, including cash prizes, trophies, medals and patent applications, will be presented.
'Invention Convention Worldwide (ICW) brings some of the brightest students in the country to The Henry Ford for three days of competition and invention education programming,' said Patirica Mooradian, president and CEO of The Henry Ford. 'ICW is a game-changer as these kids are learning critical skills, including creative thinking and problem solving, that lay the foundation for future success in the workforce.'
Invention Convention Worldwide is a K-12 invention education curricular program mapped to national and state educational standards that teaches students problem-identification, problem-solving, entrepreneurship, and creativity skills. The program builds confidence in invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship for life. More than 202,000 K-12 inventors from across the country participated in Invention Convention Worldwide programs in 2025, with the hopes of advancing to the U.S. national competition.
'For over 30 years, we've supported Invention Convention Worldwide because young innovators embody the curiosity and engineering mindset that fuels breakthrough in aerospace and technology. Their innovative thinking and ability to solve problems are motivating and will be essential in driving our industry ahead' said Kristy Becerra, senior director of corporate social responsibility at RTX.
Students are challenged to identify a problem in their own lives or communities and follow the seven steps of the invention process in The Henry Ford's free Invention Convention curriculum. Students compete and elevate through local and regional levels before advancing to the U.S. national competition. To participate, students must submit a video presentation of their invention, a prototype, an inventor's logbook showing the journey of their invention process, and a poster board highlighting key points of the invention process.
The mission of The Henry Ford's Invention Convention Worldwide is to bring Invention Education to students everywhere. Organizations interested in bringing the year-long program to their region can get more information at inhub.thehenryford.org/icw.

'Beautiful Girls' rapper Sean Kingston gets jail time in US$1 million fraud case

FORT LAUDERDALE: Sean Kingston, famous for his hit song "Beautiful Girls," was sentenced to three and a half years in jail in connection with a US$1 million fraud scheme that also involved his mother, reports said. According to CBS News, the Jamaican-American rapper and his mother, Janice Turner, were each convicted in March by a South Florida jury of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. Reports said the 35-year-old artiste, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, and Turner exploited his celebrity status to acquire luxury items, including a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, a 232-inch LED television, watches, and other high-end goods, by sending sellers fake wire transfers instead of paying. Kingston and Turner were arrested in May last year after a SWAT team raided his rented mansion in Southwest Ranches, Florida, where Turner was arrested. Kingston was later arrested at Fort Irwin, an Army training base in California's Mojave Desert, where he had been performing. The New York Times reported that a few months before the arrests, a company that sells high-end entertainment systems filed a suit against Kingston, accusing him of fraud and failing to pay for a 232-inch television and an advanced sound system installed in his home in September 2023. The company claimed that Kingston had promised to use his music industry connections to arrange promotional videos featuring Justin Bieber in exchange for a reduced down payment. However, the videos were never delivered. According to the lawsuit, Kingston had paid only US$30,000 of the US$115,000 owed for the entertainment setup. The case remains ongoing.

Are jumpsuits still fashion-forward, or is it time for a wardrobe change?

Are jumpsuits still fashion-forward, or is it time for a wardrobe change?

The reason a person may be feeling uneasy about jumpsuits is because they probably represent a specific era in life, one that may now be giving way to a new phase. Photo: Pexels If you're wondering whether a jumpsuit is still fashionable, the real question is less about the item itself and more about its style and role in your life. Aside from certain infantilising garments like rompers and bloomers, which should not be worn by any adult woman, most clothes are not a priori associated with any particular generation. It's the style, and styling, that matters. Think of the way a loyalty to super-skinny jeans can mark someone as a millennial. It's not the jeans that are the giveaway. It's the cut. And then think about the history of jumpsuits, which were invented in 1919 to allow parachuters to jump out of airplanes without their clothes getting in the way. Read more: Millennials ditched 'cringe' Y2K fashion... but Gen Zs are paying to wear it Fashion got hold of the all-in-one in the 1930s, thanks to Elsa Schiaparelli, and it became a more functional garment for women during World War II, when jumpsuits became a uniform for factory munitions workers (see: Rosie the Riveter). It was Bonnie Cashin, one of the godmothers of easy American sportswear, who embraced the style in the 1950s and created the jumpsuit as most of us know it today. And for all that time, Gen X wasn't even a gleam in anyone's eye. In recent years fashion houses like Saint Laurent, Lanvin and Prada have put their own spin on the jumpsuit, and public figures of a variety of ages, including Amal Clooney, Emma Stone, Oprah and Gayle King, have worn jumpsuits on the red carpet and at work. All of which suggests that if you are feeling self-conscious in your jumpsuit, it's probably not the garment. It's you. Or, rather, it's you experiencing the natural ebb and flow of fashion maturation and the need to reconcile a new sense of self with an old wardrobe. The reason a person may be feeling uneasy about jumpsuits is because they probably represent a specific era in life, one that may now be giving way to a new phase. At a certain point, I stopped wearing short skirts. It wasn't because my ageing legs demanded it, or because higher hemlines were out of style, but because minis simply no longer matched my emotional or psychological state. I associated them with an earlier period in my life and was ready to move on. You may be in the same place with your jumpsuits, in which case you have two options. You can put them away for a while to test out different options (a blazer and jeans, a shirtdress), or if you don't want to give up the ease and functionality they represent, you can try a different style. Big bags, big vibes, and even bigger fashion statement Bailey Moon, who is working with Pamela Anderson on her Naked Gun looks and styled Jill Biden while she was the first lady, suggests avoiding boiler suit or workwear styles, as well as flowy jersey numbers (especially if they have a sash), and opting for a more tailored cut. Or you can change it up, and rather than wearing a jumpsuit at work, wear one for evening. Like a black-tie tuxedo number. The point is to decontextualise the jumpsuit for yourself so you start thinking of it in a new way. It will still have the X factor.
