Lemmo Zero Officially Launches on 20 June

BERLIN, GERMANY, June 30, 2025 / EINPresswire.com / -- On 20 June, Lemmo — a smart micro-mobility brand from Berlin — joined hands with NIO to launch the Lemmo Zero, a carbon fibre, smart folding, dual-mode electric bike, at NIO's global headquarters in Shanghai.
The event was attended by Toni Pavic, Co-founder of Lemmo, Dr. Qin Hao, Head of R&D at Lemmo, Chloe Zhang, Head of NIO Life and Zhou Xing, Head of the NIO ET5 & ET5T.
As a smart micro-mobility brand rooted in the European market, Lemmo has earned recognition for its innovations in electrification and intelligent design. The company pioneers new product platforms by merging and redefining existing categories.
The Lemmo Zero, is based on Lemmo's Dual-Mode Vehicle (DMV) platform and marks the first global model in the lineup. Designed to support '4+2 intelligent mobility', it embraces the growing trend of 'destination cycling', offering a flexible and free-spirited mobility lifestyle.
Lemmo Zero revolutionises the traditional folding bike structure with a three-fold mechanism that dramatically reduces overall volume. When folded, it's 40% smaller than most mainstream 20-inch folding bikes and 20% smaller than typical 16-inch three-fold models. It fits easily into the trunks of multiple NIO models and even into a standard 28-inch suitcase—truly achieving global portability.
The folding process is simple and intuitive. Using a magnetic locking system and quick-release handle, the bike folds in just 30 seconds and unfolds in 15. In push mode, there's no need to lift the bike, allowing for effortless navigation through metro stations, elevators, and other everyday spaces.
Beyond its compact structure, Lemmo Zero is defined by its high-performance materials. The frame and front fork are crafted from T700 and T800 carbon fibre by Toray, balancing exceptional strength with lightness. The net weight remains under 10.5 kg, and even with the full electric system, the bike weighs only 12.5 kg—offering a rare combination of portability and performance.
At its core, the Lemmo Zero features E+ technology, enabling smooth transitions between human-powered and electric-assisted riding. Its removable
'Smartpac Air' integrates the battery, electronic control system, and IoT modules. Offering a 30–40 km range, IP66 waterproofing, and 65W fast charging, the Smartpac also functions as a power bank for smartphones and laptops. With a 160Wh capacity, it complies with airline regulations, allowing users to travel globally without battery restrictions.
The dual-mode hub features a low-resistance clutch design that creates virtually no drag during manual riding. In electric-assist mode, the 0.9 kg high-speed internal rotor motor delivers up to 400W and 30Nm of torque, easily conquering city streets and steep slopes. A high-precision torque sensor ensures a smooth, natural ride that amplifies the rider's pedalling power.
Lemmo Zero isn't just an electric bike—it's a smart mobility device with an advanced connected system. Equipped with GPS, Bluetooth, 4G modules, and OTA capabilities, it keeps riders connected and informed wherever they go. Through the Lemmo app, users can track real-time cycling data, including cadence, power, speed, and battery status, delivering valuable insights for both commuters and cycling enthusiasts.
Attention to user experience is evident in every detail. A 5-speed Shimano external gear system adapts to varying terrain.
Front and rear disc brakes offer reliable stopping in all weather. A thickened ergonomic saddle ensures comfort even on longer rides, and the geometry of the carbon frame accommodates a wide range of rider heights for an optimised riding position.
From material to mobility, power to intelligence, and from car trunks to airport gates, the Lemmo Zero redefines what an electric folding bike can be. It is a testament to the shared vision of Lemmo and NIO —pushing the boundaries of micro-mobility and shaping a new lifestyle of freedom, flexibility, and intelligent design.

China Stock Gauge Set for Decade High Driven by Savings Glut

A gauge of Shanghai-listed stocks is set for its highest close in a decade, as cash-rich local investors plow into a market that has surged amid easing trade tensions with the US. The Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index jumped as much as 0.5% to 3,715.93 on Monday, putting it on course for its highest close since August 2015, according to Bloomberg-compiled data. That cements a roughly 20% turnaround since an April selloff, when US President Donald Trump's sweeping tariffs roiled global markets. Trump extended a tariff truce with China last week.

Top German diplomat criticizes China ahead of Japan, Indonesia visit

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, just ahead of a trip to Japan and Indonesia, criticized China on Sunday for its increasingly aggressive behaviour in the Taiwan Strait and the East and South China Seas. "Fundamental rules of our global coexistence are at stake here," he warned before his departure from the Hamburg Airport. This also has implications for Europe, he added. Germany is countering this by advocating for "an international order based on the strength of the rule of law and binding rules for all." Wadephul is scheduled to meet Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya and several ministers responsible for economic affairs in Tokyo on Monday. A speech at a peace foundation is also planned. "Our freedom, our prosperity and our security—the goals that guide me as foreign minister—are not decided in Europe alone. They are decided especially in cooperation with strong partners worldwide," the minister said, explaining the purpose of his trip. Minister stresses importance of open sea routes "The Indo-Pacific is crucial in determining how secure the freedom of sea routes, global supply chains and, consequently, the economic development of the entire world remains," Wadephul said. This is of paramount importance for major exporting economies like Germany and Japan, as well as for emerging partners in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), such as Indonesia, he said. Germany's foreign minister is set to visit Indonesia on Wednesday. He criticized China for challenging the economies of Germany and Japan with unfair and market-distorting trade practices. He also noted that US tariff policies are unsettling businesses in Europe and Asia. Germany, he said, is working with key partners like Japan and Indonesia to promote economic relations based on free trade, competition and fairness. Germany shares more with Japan than with almost any other country in the Indo-Pacific region, the minister added. "We are united by values and interests, and we face the same massive challenges that call our liberal way of life into question." Solve the daily Crossword

Chinese port achieves first-of-its-kind transfer that could revolutionize maritime trade: 'Significantly cheaper than land transport'

Chinese port achieves first-of-its-kind transfer that could revolutionize maritime trade: 'Significantly cheaper than land transport' A cargo transfer milestone has been reached at a Chinese port. But the haul wasn't typical products, but rather, air pollution. It's a fascinating achievement that could provide shipping with another revenue stream, astoundingly from ship exhaust, according to the Maritime Executive. Evergreen's 152,300-deadweight-ton Ever Top was retrofitted last year with tech to capture carbon dioxide from exhaust, lassoing nearly 80% of emissions with a nearly 100% purity. The stored fumes can then be sold at a profit for other uses, per ME and Interesting Engineering. The transfer happened on June 19 at the Port of Shanghai thanks to special onboard equipment, including absorption and regeneration modules, compression refrigeration, and storage. Past efforts that used trucks and tanks to offload the CO2 were more complicated. In Shanghai, a barge vessel called De Jin parked alongside Ever Top to complete the move, heralded by Chinese officials as a novel effort, ME reported. "For scaled operations, ship-to-ship transfer offers clear advantages. It is significantly cheaper than land transport and much more efficient," project manager Du Mingsai said in IE's story. The retrofit cost about $10 million. But reports indicated the expense can be more than recouped within two years by selling the stored carbon. ME said that experts estimated ships could make an amazing $8 million a year from selling tailpipe gases. Drax Group, a United Kingdom renewable energy company not involved with the project, listed numerous product uses for captured carbon. Sneakers, furniture, cleaner concrete, and even alternative metal were some of the ones noted. The push to capture carbon comes from efforts within the sector to reduce heat-trapping air pollution that is warming the atmosphere and oceans. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported that around 91% of the excess heat produced on Earth is absorbed by the oceans. Coral bleaching, sea level rise, and other problems are linked to the warming waters, per the agency. The European Federation for Transport and Environment reported that the sector produces about 3% of global CO2 fumes, which is expected to grow by half by 2050 if "stringent measures are not taken." New-age sails, kites, and hydrogen fuel are some other options being harnessed to cut the use of dirty energy in maritime travel. But ME reported that the Ever Top retrofit costs less than a new vessel or an alternative fuel conversion. "From onboard storage to mobile transfer and reuse, the milestone gives Shanghai a full-chain ecosystem for maritime carbon capture. It also positions the city as a global model for cutting shipping emissions and sets a new benchmark for the industry's green transition," IE's Neetika Walter wrote. Do you worry about air pollution in your town? All the time Often Only sometimes Never Click your choice to see results and speak your mind. But not all of the headlines coming from the Far East seas are squeaky clean. CBS News reported that China is using so-called "dark" vessels to transfer dirty oil between ships as the country continues to buy the fossil fuel from heavily sanctioned Iran. The ships have disabled their transponders, making them tough to ID. China buys 90% of Iran's oil and calls the transactions legitimate, all according to CBS. Staying informed about key environmental issues can help you judge if efforts happening at home and around the world are legitimately meeting sustainability goals. Sometimes companies and countries tout big projects with little actual progress. Choosing cleaner travel options can also make a difference. Public transportation is a way to curb pollution. Every mile traveled via public means instead of driving cuts about a pound of heat-trapping fumes. The move can also save you serious cash in your transportation budget.
