While Yash is playing the role of Ravana in Ramayana, Ranbir Kapoor will be seen essaying the role of Lord Ram.
Ramayana has become one of the most anticipated movies, and with each passing day, the buzz around the film is only getting stronger. Now, Yash has also started shooting for the magnum opus, which is being directed by Nitesh Tiwari.
On Thursday, several photos from the sets of the film went viral on social media, in which Yash was seen preparing to bring Ravana to life in a larger-than-life action arc. The images also reveal Yash in peak physical form — ripped, intense, and battle-ready. His transformation hints at a fierce Ravana.
The actor was seen working closely with legendary Hollywood stunt director Guy Norris — celebrated for Mad Max: Fury Road and The Suicide Squad. He is currently in India, choreographing elaborate, high-octane action sequences tailored for the scale of Ramayana, with Yash's character at the centre of the storm. The actor, on the other hand, is slated to shoot for 60–70 days for Ramayana Part 1.
While Yash is playing the role of Ravana in Ramayana, Ranbir Kapoor will be seen essaying the role of Lord Ram. Just a few days back, it was also revealed that Ranbir and Yash will barely be seen sharing screen space together in Ramayana.
According to sources close to the production, 'The makers have chosen to stay true to the original Valmiki text, where Lord Ram and Raavan do not encounter each other through most of the epic. Their worlds remain apart, their stories unfolding in parallel until destiny brings them face-to-face in the climactic battle. As per the original narrative, Ram learns of Raavan's existence only after Sita's abduction, and the two never meet until the battlefield confrontation in Lanka."
The production of Ramayana is currently progressing on huge sets in Mumbai. Previously, a source close to the film told Bollywood Hungama that it is being made on a whopping budget of Rs 835 crore. The film is being made in two installments, the first one releasing in Diwali 2026 and the second one during Diwali of 2027. Ranbir Kapoor has already completed his portions of the film.
