The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) on Monday (June 23) formally inducted the new cohort for its flagship and specialised MBA programmes for 2025–2027.
The event was presided over by Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIMK, with Aju Jacob, managing director, Synthite Industries, serving as the chief guest. A total of 586 students across three full-time postgraduate programmes were inducted as part of the ceremony, a press release said.
Like in the previous years, the IIMK has achieved an overall gender diversity of 51% women across its three full-time MBA programmes – the flagship Post Graduate Programme (PGP), PGP in Finance (PGP-Fin), and PGP in Liberal Studies and Management (PGP-LSM). This marks the fourth time in the last decade that IIM Kozhikode has admitted more women than men into its MBA cohort.
The average work experience of the combined cohort stands at two years, and the average age is 24. Students from Delhi, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh make up 35% of the class, with wide national representation. Whereas Kerala, the home of IIMK, is being represented by 23 students.
Besides the three regular full-time programmes, IIMK also inducted its 19th batch of PhD Scholars (Diploma Programme in Management), which at 31, is the largest ever doctoral students batch.
The flagship PGP-29 cohort of 489 students includes 55% women, against a national CAT 2024 applicant pool with only 36% women. The batch is academically diverse as well, with 53% non-engineers and 47% engineers – a reversal of the traditional dominance of engineers in Indian B-schools. The PGP also has seven international students, representing Canada, the USA, the UK and the UAE.
The specialised programmes reflect this diversity too. The PGP-Finance has 49 candidates, evenly split between engineering and non-engineering backgrounds, with an average age of 25.43 years and average work experience of 2.51 years. Also, PGP-LSM has 48 students, with 60% women and a remarkable 96% from non-engineering backgrounds.

IIM Kozhikode Welcomes MBA Class Of 2025–27 With Over 50% Women Candidates

Last Updated: IIM Kozhikode has inducted 586 students into its 2025–27 MBA programmes, achieving 51% women representation across all three full-time postgraduate courses. The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) has officially inducted 586 students into its full-time postgraduate programmes for the 2025–2027 academic cycle, achieving a notable milestone with 51% women representation across its three MBA programmes. The induction ceremony was led by Director Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, with Aju Jacob, Managing Director of Synthite Industries, gracing the occasion as Chief Guest. A total of 586 students were inducted across IIMK's three full-time Post Graduate programmes – the flagship Post Graduate Programme (PGP), PGP in Finance (PGP-Fin), and PGP in Liberal Studies and Management (PGP-LSM). This year, IIM Kozhikode has achieved an impressive 51% women representation across its full-time MBA programmes — the fourth time in a decade that women have outnumbered men in its incoming class. This achievement challenges traditional gender gaps in Indian management education. The incoming cohort has an average age of 24 years and an average work experience of two years. Students from Delhi, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh make up 35% of the class, while Kerala, the host state of the institute, is represented by 23 students. The batch reflects rich national diversity. In addition to the MBA programmes, the institute also welcomed its 19th batch of PhD scholars, with 31 students — the largest-ever doctoral intake at IIM Kozhikode. The flagship PGP-29 batch includes 489 students, of which 55% are women, significantly higher than the 36% women in the overall CAT 2024 applicant pool. The batch also shows strong academic diversity with 53% non-engineers — reversing the long-standing engineering dominance in B-schools. Seven international students from Canada, USA, UK, and the UAE have also joined the programme. Highlighting IIM Kozhikode's deep-rooted commitment to diversity and inclusion, Director Prof. Debashis Chatterjee stated, 'Diversity is not a statistic for us – it is a strategic imperative. We are shaping future leaders who will thrive in a complex, pluralistic world. This cohort reflects the values we stand for: inclusion, intellect, and innovation. We have continually endeavored to create an inclusive academic community where varied perspectives and experiences enrich the learning process and prepare our students to become global leaders." Before today's formal inauguration, students participated in a four-day immersion programme (June 16–19) to get familiar with the campus, culture, and curriculum. A week-long orientation is now underway, with sessions by industry leaders, faculty, alumni, and senior government officials. Classes are set to begin on June 30. Bad news for Pakistan, China as IAF's strength to increase by..., DRDO's new missile to cost..., target will be... All three organizations of the Indian Army are constantly upgrading themselves amid the growing global challenges and Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has a special role in this. DRDO is now working rapidly on a new air launched subsonic cruise missile. According to sources, this missile will not only be able to be fired from the air but will also be able to target enemy areas such as command centers, airbases or logistics hubs up to 600 kilometers away. Why is this missile special? The missile being developed by DRDO is special in itself. This missile will be based on DRDO's already developed ITCM missile, but it will be fired from fighter planes instead of land. This air launched subsonic cruise missile is being designed in such a way that it can be easily launched from aircraft like Su-30MKI, Rafale, Mig-29, Tejas and the upcoming AMCA. It will also be quite economical. Ground-launched missiles require boosters, but this air-launched version will not require it because the missile will already get height and speed from the aircraft. Comparison with Brahmos-NG missile This special missile will be fitted with the Manik turbofan engine manufactured in India, which is being upgraded specifically for this purpose. The missile will also be fitted with inertial navigation and satellite guidance systems, which will enable it to hit the target with great accuracy. Also, its design will be such that it can reach its target by flying very low while avoiding the enemy's radar and air defense system. It is being said about this subsonic cruise missile that it will be lighter and cheaper than missiles like Brahmos-NG. Brahmos-NG has a very high speed (Mach 3.5) and it has been designed for fast attacks, while this subsonic missile is slow but has been designed for long range, and it can also be deployed in large numbers. Testing possible by the end of 2025 Apart from this, due to the low price, the Indian Air Force will be able to include this missile in large numbers in its fleet, which will give it more power and options. This missile, along with Brahmos, will give the Indian Air Force a smart and balanced weapon system, it is expected that it will play a big role in the times to come.
