1 2 Lucknow: Actor Shriya Pilgaonkar on Thursday lauded Uttar Pradesh's 1090 Women Power Line, calling it a model of women's safety that should be replicated across India. During her visit to Women and Child Safety Organisation (WCSO) headquarters in Lucknow, Shriya praised the state's technology-driven, empathetic approach to handling crimes against women. Interacting with officials, she observed functioning of 1090 helpline, which receives over 8,000 calls daily. Shriya noted that helpline not only counsels victims but also provides psychological counselling to accused individuals to prevent repeat offences. Pilgaonkar, who plays a police officer in her upcoming crime series Chhal Kapat, said her visit aimed to promote awareness around women's safety. "Security doesn't come from fear alone—it comes from understanding, awareness, and technology," she said. She said safe society could be built only when citizens were informed and proactive.
