Following SGPC's intervention, Centre removes AI-generated videos of Golden Temple with objectionable content
Following objections raised by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has removed two AI-generated videos it released recently, which depict two individuals with uncovered heads and shorn hair playing musical instruments at the sarovar (holy tank) of the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
The videos were earlier shared on the ministry's official YouTube and social media platforms.
The SGPC expressed 'strong resentment' over the videos, stating that they were in violation of Sikh religious sentiments, and contacted senior officials of the I&B ministry and communicated the concerns of the Sikh community through an official correspondence.
'The presence of individuals without covered heads and with shorn hair at a sacred Sikh site is against Sikh religious principles,' SGPC secretary Partap Singh said. 'We immediately brought this to the attention of the ministry and requested the removal of the content.'
Following the SGPC's intervention, the ministry removed the videos and acknowledged the concerns raised. 'The ministry assured us that such videos will not be released in the future if they are found to hurt religious sentiments,' Singh added. The SGPC also thanked the ministry for its prompt action in addressing the issue.

A special court in Mumbai on June 10 granted one-day custody of National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) Deputy Registrar Charan Pratap Singh to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for further probe in connection with a Rs 3-lakh bribery who was arrested by the CBI on May 29, was initially remanded to judicial custody along with his aide, Karsan Ganesh Ahir. While Singh's lawyer Sak Saxena had moved a bail plea, the CBI sought five days of police custody, citing the need for further the plea, Saxena argued that seeking custody after the accused had been sent to judicial custody amounts to a review of an existing judicial order, which is impermissible under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) or any other applicable law. He contended that unless new compelling evidence had emerged, a renewed plea for police custody was invalid. Saxena further added that any need to confront witnesses could be addressed while the accused remains in judicial custody through court-approved procedures. The special judge, after hearing both sides, observed that the initial police custody was denied on May 29 and since then, new witness statements had emerged indicating Singh's involvement. Citing this, the court ruled that the CBI had presented sufficient grounds to justify a one-day custodial remand for further court directed Shyamal Sawant, Police Inspector of CBI's Anti-Corruption Branch, to take Singh into custody from Central Prison Mumbai on June 10 and produce him before the court again on June 11 at 11.00 was arrested for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3 lakh from a businessman to help favourably resolve an ownership dispute involving a prominent hotel in Mumbai. According to the CBI, Singh had handed over Rs 50,000 to Pradeep Kumar Nagarale, Court Officer at NCLT Mumbai, on May 16 as part of the bribe meant to influence an NCLT Board agency further alleged that incriminating WhatsApp conversations between Singh and Nagarale were deleted from both their phones, which it is currently attempting to retrieve as part of the Watch

DTC revises rates to hire its electric buses
Schools, private agencies, the Delhi Police, Tourism Department, and others looking to hire buses for film-shooting purposes will have to pay the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) a higher fee to hire its buses, according to a proposal passed by the DTC Board. The DTC will now have to submit the proposal to the Transport Department to seek approval from the Delhi government. The new hire rates for DTC's electric buses have been proposed at Rs 110 per km, with a minimum daily charge of Rs 7,700 per bus for up to 70 km. A cost analysis for 2024–25 revealed that the per-kilometre cost of e-buses stands at Rs 90.38. The new rates would ensure cost efficiency and alignment with operational expenses, according to a statement from the Transport Minister's Office. The existing hire rates for CNG buses are Rs 60 per km (non-AC) and Rs 75 per km (AC), with minimum daily charges of Rs 3,000 and Rs 4,500, respectively. The existing hire rates for Delhi Police, Tourism Department, and private agencies were fixed in 2009 and for film shooting purposes in 2011. The majority of DTC's CNG fleet is going to be scrapped by the end of 2025, and 'therefore it is essential to fix hire charges for e-buses,' according to the resolution approved by the DTC Board. 'This decision marks a strategic step toward making DTC financially self-sustaining. Our goal is clear — to transform DTC into a revenue-surplus and profitable entity within a year,' said Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh at the DTC Board meeting. 'With these revised rates, we not only ensure fair recovery for electric buses but also open avenues for DTC's participation in creative sectors like film shooting, contributing to both revenue and public engagement,' Singh added. At present, there are 3,266 buses under the DTC. Of these, 1,895 are electric buses and 1,371 are CNG buses. With the addition of 200 buses, which were flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week, the electric fleet increased to 2,095 buses. 2,080 more electric buses are set to be added to the fleet by the end of the year.

Espionage accused YouTuber Jasbir Singh sent to 14-day judicial custody
Mohali (Punjab) [India], June 10 (ANI): YouTuber Jasbir Singh who was arrested on espionage charges, has been sent to 14-day judicial custody by a Mohali court. Jasbir's lawyer, Mohit, on Monday said that Jasbir will stay in custody until June 23. 'He was produced in the court. He has been sent on a 14-day judicial remand. He will stay in judicial remand until June 23. After discussion, we will file a bail application,' Mohit remarked. Jasbir Singh, who ran the YouTube channel 'Jaan Mahal,' is allegedly linked to a terror-backed espionage network involving Pakistani intelligence operative Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa, as per police sources. He is also said to have maintained close contact with Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, previously arrested for spying, and Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a Pakistani national and expelled Pakistan High Commission official, said the police. On Wednesday, Punjab Police's State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), SAS Nagar has arrested a YouTube influencer for spying for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, Information and Public Relations Department, Punjab, in an official statement. Earlier, DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the accused, Jasbir Singh, has been found associated with Pakistani Intelligence Operative (PIO) Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa, part of a terror-backed espionage network. He also maintained close contact with Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra-- arrested for spying by Haryana Police-- and Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a Pakistani national and expelled Pakistan High Commission official, as per the statement. He said that investigations have revealed that Jasbir attended the Pakistan National Day event in Delhi on Danish's invitation, where he met Pakistani Army officials and vloggers. The accused has also travelled to Pakistan on three occasions, including in 2020, 2021 and 2024, and came into direct contact with ISI officers, who subsequently cultivated and recruited him to carry out espionage activities within India, he added earlier. The DGP said that after Jyoti Malhotra's arrest, the accused, Jasbir, had attempted to erase all traces of his communications with these PIOs to avoid detection. Further investigations are underway to dismantle the broader espionage-terror network and identify all collaborators, he added. (ANI)
