ITV The Assembly future sealed as bosses share huge announcement

Daily Mirror17-07-2025
ITV bosses have big news for fans of The Assembly after stars Danny Dyer, David Tennant, Jade Thirlwall and Gary Lineker all took part in the first series.
ITV's The Assembly's future has been sealed by executives and fans will be thrilled to learn, it's good news.

The smash-hit series is set to return for a bumper-series two after it received rave reviews from viewers and critical acclaim.

Hailed as "the best interview show" by fans, we previously saw celebrities such as Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall, Eastenders ' legend Danny Dyer, Doctor Who's David Tennant and Sky Sports star Gary Lineker risk everything as they faced an "ask me anything" interview like no other.

A remarkable group of inquisitive interviewers who are autistic or neurodivergent put each celebrity to the test asking questions that have zero bounds.
The group who touched the hearts of the nation - and are allowed to ask anything they choose - will once again return, putting their unique questions to a brand new batch of brave celebrities.

ITV have been clear, that for season two, the rules will remain the same; no question is off the table and no topic is out of bounds.
The news on which six famous faces taking part in the new season is not yet known and no exact release date has been established just yet.
However, what we do know, is that fans will be able to tune in to see an additional episode, which includes The Assembly: Unseen, this will include all the missed tidbits from each celeb interview previously.

Speaking about the show's return, Katie Rawcliffe, Director of Entertainment & Daytime Commissioning ITV said: "This really is ITV entertainment at its best: warm, funny, revealing and just that little bit mischievous.
"We've got lots of ideas about which famous faces will join for series 2 and we're eager to see what we'll learn from the fantastic questions The Assembly will have."

David Smyth, Entertainment Commissioning Editor ITV also commented: "The response to series 1 was thrilling and completely deserved for this fantastic cast and crew. There was no doubt in my mind that we needed to do more. I can't wait to see what questions The Assembly will put to our next group of bold celebrities and what their responses will be..."
In series one, things took an emotional turn when former Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall admitted she'd "sold her soul" for her on-stage career.

The loveable group made up of autistic or learning disabled interviewers, asked the singer if she'd ever felt as though she'd "sold her soul" to be a music star.
Evidently astounded by the question, she responded: "You've trumped me. Maybe a little bit in the beginning. I was so young and I just signed on the dotted line.
"But as the years have gone by I've learned more and more about the industry. I've been collecting — a bit like [Marvel superhero] Thanos with the stones — I've been collecting parts of my soul back as I've gained more creative freedom."
It is due to air on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player in 2026.

Credit: ITV While the ITV show's contestants must "say what they see", this can prove tricky on challenging puzzles. Laurence was left stumped on four Super Catchphrase riddles and therefore had to pass on them. The first depicted people writing on a blackboard, a whiteboard and a third board covered in cheese. In particular, Laurence had to focus on the last board, which had an arrow pointing at it. Up next was was a building balancing on a pole as a figure stood at a nearby ATM. The next one featured the show's Mr. Chips character performing as a rapper on a stage. His audience was two desk fans, one blue and one pink, with the pink one jumping up and down. Last but not least, Laurence saw two people on either side of a broken fence, as they worked together to repair it. Despite these stumbling blocks, he won £2,500 for charity in the final round. Combined with his winnings from earlier in the show, Laurence scooped a total of £7,000. He made fast work of the pyramid - and found himself facing the £50,000 jackpot puzzle with over 20 seconds on the clock. The riddle showed a group of seven '1's' standing on a stage, all holding trophies or wearing a first place ribbon. Chris guessed: "First place... first cup... first prize... first stage", but to no avail. Host Jeremy Clarkson asked: 'From the 2000 awards ceremony onwards, the Best Actress Oscar has never been won by a woman whose surname begins with which one of these letters?' The multiple choice answers were between G, K, M and W. In the end, and with the £32,000 safe, player Glen had to make a guess and went for G. It turned out to be correct as Nicole Kidman, Frances McDormand and Kate Winslet are among the stars who have won the Best Actress gong since 2000. - Earlier this year, fans were left outraged after what they described as the "worst" question in the show's history. The 1% Club - Viewers of Lee Mack's popular ITV show were left dumbfounded by a question that also left the players perplexed. The query went as follows: "Edna's birthday is on the 6th of April and Jen's birthday falls on the 15th of October, therefore Amir's birthday must be the 'X' of January." It turns out the conundrum links the numbers with its position in the sentence, so 6th is the sixth word and 15th is the fifteenth word. Therefore, Amir's birthday is January 24th, corresponding to the 24th word in the sentence. - Viewers of Lee Mack's popular ITV show were left dumbfounded by a question that also left the players perplexed. One of the questions asked the player: "Someone with a nightshade intolerance should avoid eating what?" The options were - sweetcorn, potatoes, carrots - with Steve selecting sweetcorn but the correct answer was potatoes. EastEnders fans predict new character will debut after death announced

EastEnders fans think it's time for a character to make their debut on the BBC soap amid the news Stuart Highway would reunite with brother Callum for their father Jonno's funeral Fans of EastEnders think the time has come to be introduced to a mentioned yet unseen character on the BBC soap. Amid news of a death being announced on the show and a double return being on the way, fans think it could lead to a new character making their arrival. ‌ We learned this week that Stuart Highway is making his comeback to the show for the funeral of his father Jonno. Stuart, played by actor Ricky Champ, will reunite with his brother Callum Highway for the scenes. ‌ It comes as the soap released pictures from filming showing Stuart and Callum alongside Johnny Carter and returning character Ben Mitchell, played by actor Max Bowden. Callum will be reunited with his husband who's currently in prison in the US, amid his fling with Johnny. ‌ But will the funeral and the death of Jonno lead to another reunion? Fans are speculating we may finally meet the mother of Callum and Stuart who has yet to debut on the soap. It's never really been said, or at least fans cannot recall, whether they have the same mother, and who she is. But given the mystery surrounding Callum's mother, possibly Stuart's too, could Callum's mum make her way to Walford now that Jonno is dead? ‌ Some fans certainly questioned whether the plot twist would be on the cards. A fan said on social media: "Do you think that with Jonno's imminent death, we might finally see Callum and Stuart's mother? "Seems she has never been mentioned and with all the new characters, might be a fun one to explore?" Another fan said: "I suppose their mom could have stayed away for her own safety and now that he's dead, free to return." ‌ A third viewer added: "Would be good if we finally see who Stuart and Callum's mom is?" A fourth fan commented: "I'd love to see Callum's mum, or I wonder if Granny Vi will turn up again!" A further fan said: "I wonder if their mum will arrive for the funeral or off the back of it but then again with Stuart leaving would there be a point." It comes amid fans predicting a new twist for Ben and Callum as Ben returns for a brief stint. Stuart's return is also only for a few episodes, both airing this autumn. Fans are wondering if Ben will be transferred to a prison in the UK, and if it could lead to a permanent return to the soap for actor Max at some point in the near future. Spider-mania shows no sign of slowing as Glasgow is caught in a web of superhero excitement

Spider-mania has shown no sign of slowing as fans continue to gather in Glasgow city centre to take in the filming of the latest superhero movie. Filming for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has drawn thousands of excited children and intrigued residents keen to see the dramatic action scenes unfold on their doorstep. Since filming kicked off on July 31, onlookers have been delighted by spectacular car chases, explosions and daring feats performed by Spider-Man's stunt double. Youngsters decked out in Spidey costumes were among the crowds gathered as crews filmed an armoured vehicle racing through the streets with the action hero on top. The blockbuster is the latest Hollywood film to have shot scenes in Glasgow in recent years, with the city also showing up in Indiana Jones, The Flash and Batman. In the last year alone, Top Gun star Glen Powell has also shot two major movies in Glasgow: JJ Abrams' Ghostwriter and a remake of The Running Man. Over the past week familiar streets were left unrecognisable thanks to the arrival of American police and military vehicles, along with high-tech equipment. Fans were even treated to a glimpse of Tom Holland on Sunday when the actor shot an action sequence in costume before chatting to a large crowd. The upcoming Spider-Man film will be Marvel's fourth movie following the story of Peter Parker, and the Spider-Mania that has gripped the centre of Glasgow is set to spread further afield, as Marvel bosses have announced extra filming dates at new locations. Shooting will be extended by 11 days and will move towards the eastern part of the city centre until August 26.
