Bahrain's Garden Show Showcases Modern Farming

The Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs, His Excellency Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, has lauded the esteemed royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for the Bahrain International Garden Show 2025. He emphasized that such patronage plays a crucial role in bolstering the Kingdom's agricultural sector and advancing environmental sustainability through strategic projects spearheaded by the government, under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The minister also extended his deepest gratitude to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and Chairperson of the Advisory Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Sector Development, for inaugurating the event. He acknowledged her continuous support for afforestation and agricultural development, which significantly contributes to the ministry's efforts in enhancing the sector's performance across various levels.
Al Mubarak highlighted the significance of the Bahrain International Garden Show in fostering the development of parks and public spaces in the Kingdom, supporting afforestation and beautification efforts, and strengthening the agricultural industry. He noted that the event serves as a vital platform for exchanging ideas, experiences, and expertise within the sector.
Aligned with this year's exhibition theme, which encourages innovation and creative contributions to the agricultural and horticultural sectors, the Ministry's pavilion focuses on raising agricultural awareness and promoting a culture of environmental sustainability.
The exhibit showcases key achievements and initiatives undertaken to support Bahrain's agricultural industry while encouraging modern farming techniques. Among the highlighted solutions are vertical farming, artificial lighting-based agriculture, and advanced hydroponic systems. Additionally, the pavilion features an informative section on the Bahrain Mangrove Initiative, reinforcing the Kingdom's commitment to ecological preservation and sustainability.

'Safeguarding workers' rights and promoting decent jobs are not just values, they are engines of development,' H.E. the minister said, reflecting on the conference theme, 'Forging the Link Between Jobs, Rights, and Economic Growth.' Integrated reforms H.E. the minister outlined a series of reforms and legal initiatives underway in Bahrain to protect trade union freedoms, support social dialogue, and strengthen workplace safety. The Minister drew attention to Bahrain's Tier 1 status in the US Department of State's Trafficking in Persons Report for the seventh consecutive year, calling it an international recognition of the Kingdom's effective and proactive efforts to combat exploitation. His Excellency Khalaf also noted the complete absence of child labour in the Kingdom, the country's anti-discrimination protections, and the rollout of updated occupational health and safety standards. Youth and women H.E. Also stressed that Bahrain's labour vision also prioritises inclusion, with programmes aimed at increasing youth participation in the labour market and promoting the advancement of women in the workforce. Khalaf praised the report by ILO Director-General Gilbert F. Houngbo and echoed its call to see workers' rights as integral to economic resilience.

TDT | Manama Bahrain's brightest young innovators are set to represent the Kingdom on the regional stage in Egypt this November, after topping INJAZ Bahrain's 17th Young Entrepreneurs Competition. Held at Crowne Plaza Bahrain, the event brought together more than 1,000 students from schools and universities nationwide, who pitched bold business ideas in a high-stakes entrepreneurial contest. Winning teams will now compete in the INJAZ Al-Arab Regional Young Entrepreneurs Competition in Cairo. Bold ideas The national-level contest featured 20 student-led companies formed under INJAZ Bahrain's flagship Company Programme, giving participants the chance to launch real businesses and build investor-ready products and services. This year's edition also marked the organisation's 20th anniversary, underscoring two decades of commitment to equipping youth with business acumen and leadership skills. Corporate support Major Bahraini companies supported the event, with five new special awards introduced by sponsors including Alba, Tamkeen, Beyon, Bapco Energies, Basrec, bni, CrediMax, and NBB. Cash, celebration and a grand prize
TDT | Manama Al Baraka Islamic Bank marked Eid Al Adha with a celebration of loyalty and good fortune, awarding its June Grand Prize worth USD 120,000 and naming 50 additional winners of Eid cash rewards under its Al Barakat Investment Account programme. The headline prize, structured as a monthly salary of USD 10,000 for one full year, went to Mr. Sayed Hadi Mohsen Alawi. His name was drawn in a public raffle held at the bank's Bahrain Bay headquarters, where customers, auditors, and officials from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce were present. Branch visitors also took part in the process by helping randomly select winners. Banking with rewards Alongside the main winner, 50 Al Barakat customers received Eid Al Adha cash prizes of USD 500 each. The festive timing and scale of the draw underscored the Bank's message of inclusivity, customer appreciation, and community celebration. Chief Retail Officer Mazin Dhaif noted that the Al Barakat Account continues to turn clients' savings into opportunities. He described the prize scheme as more than a financial reward, calling it 'a life-enhancing tool' that reflects the Bank's commitment to rewarding loyalty through Shari'a-compliant savings. Largest prize pool With a total prize pool of USD 4 million in 2025, the Al Barakat scheme stands as the largest of its kind in Bahrain's Islamic banking sector. The Al Barakat Investment Account is available via the Bank's mobile app with a minimum deposit of BD 50 or USD 135. Accounts can also be opened for minors through a legal guardian. All cash prizes are awarded under Shari'a guidelines, reinforcing Al Baraka's promise of ethical banking that uplifts its community.
