2 suspects arrested in deadly shooting of Riverside teen
They were identified as Francisco Gallegos, 20, and Bryan Torres-Arroyo, 21, according to the Riverside Police Department.
On May 28, 2023, police responded to a shooting in an alleyway near Chicago Avenue and Linden Street around 5:13 p.m.
Officers found two teen boys, a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to the hospital.
The 18-year-old, later identified as Isaiah Arviso of Riverside, died from his injuries. The other teen survived. Both suspects fled the scene before police arrived.
'Detectives initially had a limited suspect description and exhausted all available leads, as this shooting appeared to be gang-related,' Riverside police said.
Following an extensive investigation, detectives eventually identified Torres-Arroyo and Gallegos as the primary suspects.
Search warrants were served at their residences and on July 11, both were arrested for murder. The investigation remains ongoing and no further details were released on the case.

Woman Says She Tinder Matched With Bryan Kohberger But Cut Ties After His Disturbing Questions
A woman told police she matched with murderer Bryan Kohberger on a dating app in the weeks before he stabbed four University of Idaho students to death, but that she ultimately stopped all contact after their conversations about murder made her uncomfortable, newly released documents reveal. The woman's alleged conversations with Kohberger were detailed in a police report released by Idaho's Moscow Police Department this week after the former criminology student was sentenced to life in prison for the November 2022 killings. According to the report, the woman, whose name was redacted, called a police tip line in March last year to say that she recognized Kohberger after matching with him on Tinder in September or October 2022. The woman told a police detective that Kohberger identified himself to her as a criminology student at Washington State University, which is located roughly eight miles from the murder scene, and that they made plans to meet over Christmas break when he came home. Though the woman's location was not identified in the report, authorities said Kohberger traveled to his parents' home in Pennsylvania that Christmas, where he was ultimately arrested for the murders. The woman said she paid extra to expand her Tinder search results' radius after not matching with anyone in her area. The pair's conversations included a discussion of her friend's murder in her town a few years earlier, as well as her favorite horror movies, which she said included the Rob Zombie 'Halloween' movies, according to the report. 'To this, [the woman] said Kohberger asked what she thought would be the worst way to die,' lead detective Brett Payne wrote in his report. When the woman answered with a knife, she said Kohberger asked, 'like a Ka Bar?' A Ka-Bar is a large combat knife, which authorities said was used by Kohberger to fatally stab the four students. Prosecutors said Kohberger purchased the knife, sheath and sharpener on Amazon in March 2022. A Ka-Bar sheath, containing his DNA, was ultimately found next to one of his victims. The woman told the detective that she didn't know what a Ka-Bar is and so looked it up online. She eventually stopped talking to Kohberger, however, 'because his questions made her uncomfortable,' according to the report. It wasn't until after Kohberger was arrested that the woman said 'she recognized his photo and remembered the comment about the Ka Bar knife,' prompting her to call police. Payne said he was unable to corroborate the woman's story, as she said she no longer had access to her Tinder account and could not get her user ID. In a separate report filed a month later, Payne said he reached out to Tinder for any records related to the woman, but the dating app said there were no records associated with the information the woman provided. 'At this time, there is no indication [that] records to support [the woman's] tip exist in Tinder's records. If further information or new identifiers are found, I will request a search warrant for the Tinder accounts,' reported Payne. Kohberger was sentenced Wednesday to four consecutive life sentences for the murders of Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Madison Mogen, 21. Related... Trump pens letter to grieving mother of slain congressional intern: 'Held in my heart'
President Donald Trump sent a letter to the mother of a congressional intern who was killed in a Washington, D.C. shooting, saying he and Melania Trump are "heartbroken for your entire family." Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, a 21-year-old student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, was shot around 10:28 p.m. on June 30 and died on July 1, according to police. The Metropolitan Police Department said the shooting happened on the 1200 block of 7th Street, Northwest. Tarpinian-Jachym was in Washington, D.C., as an intern for Rep. Ron Estes, R-Kan. Police said an adult female and 16-year-old male were both shot but survived. No suspects are in custody, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. Several people exited a vehicle and fired shots at a group of people, including Tarpinian-Jachym. Tarpinian-Jachym wasn't the intended target of the shooting, they added. In a letter dated July 17 to the parents of Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, the Trumps said they are devastated by the "senseless act of violence that took your beloved son." "While we may never fully understand the impact that Eric has had during his meaningful life, we know he will be remembered for his kindness, faithfulness, and devotion to your family and his many friends," Trump wrote. "He will also be remembered for his commitment to our country. I know how proud Congressman Estes was to have Eric represent his office, the people of Kansas' Fourth Congressional District, and our Nation." "Eric will be held in my heart, and I promise never to forget or forgive the terrible act that took him from us. Please know that my Administration will not stop fighting to clean up our streets and ensure law and order," Trump added. "May God hold Eric in His eternal love and care and provide you and your other incredible children, Angela and Jeremy, with abiding peace and unending strength." In an interview with Fox News Digital, Eric's mother, Tamara Jachym, said her son faced adversity in his life but always found a way to overcome it. "He had ambition because he had some adversity in his life. A lot of things have happened to him. And he did struggle initially, like he had severe dyslexia as a first-grader. He couldn't read or write, but boy, he could do it. He taught himself mathematics and how to play chess from YouTube," Jachym said. "He had some adversity issues, but I think he felt accepted in D.C. because he was bright and articulate, and he was always kind of flat-faced. When he smiled, you knew he meant it. It was genuine." The FBI and Metropolitan Police Department are offering a $40,000 reward for anyone who provides information leading to an arrest and conviction, and are encouraging them to contact (202) 727-9099.
