Bruce Willis Shakes Hands with L.A. Wildfires First Responders in Rare Appearance

Bruce Willis thanked first responders involved in tackling the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires in a rare outing.
The veteran actor — who is battling dementia — was seen shaking hands and chatting with police officers in an Instagram video posted Thursday by his wife, Emma Heming.
'Spotting a first responder, Bruce never missed a chance to show his gratitude with a heartfelt handshake and a 'thank you for your service,'' Heming, 46, captioned the black-and-white footage.
She added that 'yesterday was no different ❤️🤍💙.'
In the clip, which was set to the tune of Led Zeppelin's 'Going to California,' Willis, 69, sported a light-colored corduroy jacket and dark pants, which he paired with a New York Yankees baseball cap.
Tallulah Willis — his youngest daughter with his first wife, Demi Moore — commented beneath the upload, 'This makes my heart so freaking full.'
The actor's family announced his aphasia diagnosis in March 2022, simultaneously lamenting that he would be 'stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.'
Aphasia can affect a person's ability to speak, write and understand language, both verbal and written, and it typically occurs after a stroke or a head injury.
Though Bruce's loved ones did not reveal the cause of his aphasia, he sustained various on-set injuries throughout his lengthy career.
In February 2023, the 'Die Hard' star's family revealed he had received the 'cruel' diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia.
'While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis,' they shared at the time via the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration's website.
'FTD is a cruel disease that many of us have never heard of and can strike anyone. For people under 60, FTD is the most common form of dementia, and because getting the diagnosis can take years, FTD is likely much more prevalent than we know,' they explained.
'Today there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope can change in the years ahead. As Bruce's condition advances, we hope that any media attention can be focused on shining a light on this disease that needs far more awareness and research.'
The statement — which was signed by Heming, Moore and all five of Bruce's daughters — made sure to note that if the patriarch 'could' respond to his situation, he would want to help spread awareness and bring 'global attention and connectedness' to others suffering from the 'debilitating disease.'
The 'Pulp Fiction' star and Heming — who married in March 2009 — are parents to Mabel Willis, 12, and Evelyn Willis, 10, while he and Moore, 62, share Rumer Willis, 36, and Scout Willis, 33, in addition to Tallulah, 30.
The Willis clan lives in LA, where two major blazes — the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire — continue to burn.
As of Thursday, the fires — which sparked on January 7 — had killed at least 25 people and demolished more than 40,000 acres.

Jessie J Reveals Early Breast Cancer Diagnosis: "I Am Going to Disappear for a Bit"

Yara Sameh British singer-songwriter Jessica Ellen Cornish, aka Jessie J, has revealed that she had been recently diagnosed with 'early breast cancer.' The musician shared the health update on Instagram on Tuesday, telling her followers that the diagnosis came shortly before the release of her track 'No Secrets' in April. 'Before 'No Secrets' came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,' she said. 'I'm highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form but I'm holding on to the word early.' As she continued, she revealed that she has been 'in and out of tests' since the release of the track and wanted to share the video in an attempt to be 'open' about her journey with her supporters. 'I just wanted to be open and share it because selfishly, I do not talk about it enough,' she added. 'I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support, and also their own stories. I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much. Similar and worse.' She continued, 'I'm getting to keep my nipples, that's good. It's a weird topic and a weird situation. And I know the press are going to say crazy stuff but you know what, to get diagnosed with this as I'm putting out a song called 'No Secrets' right before a song called 'Living My Best Life,' which was all pre-planned before I found out about this, I mean you can't make it up.' In closing her video to fans, Jessie J explained that she will 'disappear for a bit' to undergo surgery following her performance at the Summertime Ball in England on June 15. Celebrity friends and fans online were quick to extend their get-well-soon wishes to Jessie. "You're literally my favorite person and I'm praying for you. You've got this. My mother had it and I know the surgery and any treatment on this matter is mentally tough so I'm here for you," Rita Ora commented. "Open book and open heart, we love you and support you always, sending you the best energy for a soon recovery ❤️ warrior," one fan wrote. Jessie J's decision to be open and honest with her health journey aligns with her comments from July, in which she revealed a recent diagnosis of obsessive-compulsive behavior (OCD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity (ADHD). 'It's empowered me and honestly sometimes has overwhelmed me all at the same time,' she explained, noting that the information had made her think about her life in a whole new way. 'If there is one thing social media has given me, it's the chance to relate, connect, and heal with strangers that have kind hearts and are going through a similar thing. I have always been honest in the journey I'm going through in life.'
