Edinburgh Pride: 10 best photos from Edinburgh's first ever Pride march in 1995, 30 years ago
June 17, 1995 was a real landmark occasion, as it was the day Scotland's capital conquered prejudice with a resounding display of Pride, as more than 3,000 people triumphantly marched together from Broughton Street to the Meadows via Princes Street.
Fast forward to today, and the longest-running LGBTQIA+ celebration in Scotland has grown massively since 1995. This year's event is a weekend-long affair, which includes the annual march through the streets of Edinburgh on Saturday, June 21.

Airbnb reveals the top trending Pride Month destinations for 2025
Thank the rainbow gods it's Pride Month, a chance to celebrate love in all forms and connect with like-minded community. Some people travel for Pride if their city doesn't host large-scale festivities, and renting an Airbnb to share makes the journey even more special. To that end, Airbnb has released a list of the top trending Pride Month destinations this year, based on searches by Gen Z and millennial users. Younger travelers like those born between 1981 and 1996 (a.k.a. Millennials) and between 1997 and 2012 (Gen Z) have been looking online for the best cities to celebrate Pride Month, with search interest surging from 20-percent last year to 90-percent in June 2025. In the U.S., the cities seeing the most trending interest are Chicago, Illinois and Boston, Massachusetts, beating LGBT-friendly hubs like New York and San Francisco. And internationally, the cities of Cologne, Germany; Bogotá, Colombia; and Mexico City, Mexico are also seeing a huge uptick in interest. Why these two American cities? Chicago was where the country's first gay rights organization (the Society for Human Rights) was founded in the 1920s; half a century later, the city's annual Pride Parade began as a protest march in 1970 after the significant Stonewall Riots in New York City, where people protested the police raid on a gay club called the Stonewall Inn. Today, Chicago's Pride Parade brings out more than a million people to cheer and celebrate. The larger Pride festivities last all month around Chicagoland, with concerts, street festivals and dance parties. And Boston, of course, has its own historical LGBTQ+ bonafides: its own Pride parade, which debuted in 1971, was the first in all of New England. This year's observances, centered on the ever-resilient theme of "Here to Stay," include an epic parade, rainbow flag raising, live music and performances from both drag kings and queens.

Anna Camp defended the age gap between her and girlfriend Jade Whipkey after the couple made their red carpet debut last week. Camp commented on a post from PinkNews on Instagram, which highlighted an 18-year age gap between the actor and Whipkey. 'Thought I'd jump on here since I follow @pinknews and just say I've dated men exactly my age and Jade is FAR more mature than any of them,' Camp wrote. The couple were first spotted together earlier this year, and fans began to speculate if they were together after they appeared in a joint interview posted on TikTok in February, in which they discussed the worst dates they had been on. In the interview, Camp referred to Whipkey as 'babe,' and when she was asked what she expects from a man on a first date, Camp replied, 'Well, I don't expect anything. Not anymore, because I like women, and it's great.' Jonathan Bailey ‘so proud' to support LGBT diversity week in UK schools
Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey has said he is 'so proud' to support LGBT+ diversity week in UK schools. The initiative, launched by the LGBT+ young people's charity Just Like Us, is an annual celebration of LGBT+ equality, running from June 23-27 in primary and secondary schools across the UK. The 37-year old actor and patron to the charity, who has previously been open about his own sexuality and experience coming out, has said that he wished he had a similar initiative while he was at school. Bailey said: 'School Diversity Week is an incredible initiative that creates the inclusive environment every young person deserves. 'Growing up, I wish I had something like School Diversity Week to let me know it was OK to be myself. 'I would have loved to see LGBT+ inclusion celebrated in schools – it would have made such a difference in feeling seen, supported, and accepted. 'This week gives pupils the chance to learn, have fun, and embrace diversity, helping to build a future where all young people can be themselves without fear. I'm so proud to support Just Like Us in making that a reality. 'Thank you to every school, every teacher and pupil taking part because you are helping make the world a brighter and more joyful place for all LGBT+ young people and their friends.' Bailey is also known for starring alongside pop star Ariana Grande and singer Cynthia Erivo in the film adaptation of the musical Wicked, playing the charming Prince Fiyero. He added: 'I am immensely proud to be in a position to support Just Like Us and increase the volume and awareness of what they're setting out to achieve, which I think is incredibly important. 'Children deserve the right to feel acknowledged and supported in who they are at such a vital time in their lives.' The star previously joined the likes of singer Jessie Ware and DJ Annie Mac to back a campaign launched by the charity that urged parents to become LGBT+ allies and help combat homophobic language in primary schools. Laura Mackay, chief executive of Just Like Us, said: 'School Diversity Week is an opportunity for school communities to come together and celebrate the differences that make us all special. 'LGBT+ young people still face significant barriers at school, at home and in the wider world, but each school that celebrates and prioritises LGBT+ inclusion shows them that they are valued, seen and safe. 'We are so grateful to our patron Jonathan Bailey for taking such a strong stance on supporting LGBT+ young people and improving inclusion in schools, and also to every educator who is making sure that pupils have a supportive environment in which to learn, both during School Diversity Week and all year round.' School Diversity Week runs from June 23 until 27.
