A Republican lawmaker from Florida, Attorney General James Uthmeier, has shocked many people with a wild new idea. Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana high court has held that invocation of extraordinary jurisdiction by way of a public interest litigation (PIL) is inappropriate and impermissible when a robust and adequate statutory framework already exists for redressal of a particular grievance. "Allowing unfettered recourse to PIL in such instances would amount to a judicial usurpation of legislative foresight and undermine the primary responsibility of the legislature to craft laws. Bypassing these meticulously designed mechanisms through PIL circumvents the intended architecture of grievance redressal and potentially dilutes the role of expert authorities," the high court has said. Nagpur: The Maharashtra Rajya Shikshan Sanstha Mahamandal (MRSSM), a statewide association representing trusts that manage educational institutes, has decided not to reopen schools on June 23 to protest against the 'neglect' of pending demands. MRSSM general secretary Ravindra Fadnavis said on Friday that the state has long ignored requests from schools, ranging from pending RTE payments to infrastructure, and these need to be resolved as a priority. MRSSM stated that their key demands include property tax exemptions for educational institutions, residential electricity rates for aided schools, a free solar energy policy, permanent recognition under the Right to Education Act, the immediate release of ₹2,400 crore in pending RTE student fee reimbursements, and the recruitment of clerical and Class IV staff. Additionally, they have called for the immediate cancellation of the March 15 govt decision regarding school staff approvals, which MRSSM deemed unjust and infringing on their jurisdiction.
