The Bentley Bentayga Speed has set a new record at the Goodwood Speed Festival. Check Offers
Bentley's latest Bentayga Speed has officially set a new record for the fastest internal combustion engine (ICE) production SUV on the Goodwood Festival of Speed hill climb. Despite patchy wet conditions, the 641 bhp luxury SUV completed the hill run in 55.8 seconds last Sunday, ahead of the festival's public opening.
The time marks an improvement of almost one second over the previous W12-powered Bentayga Speed's run in dry conditions. It also beats all other ICE production SUVs recorded at the event. Only Bentley's specially modified Pikes Peak Bentayga has gone faster up the same hill.
Bentley's vehicle dynamics specialist Andy Marson, driving the Bentayga Speed, reached a peak speed of 209 kmph before braking for Molecomb corner. According to Bentley, the run showcased the car's revised chassis, ESC Dynamic settings, and all-wheel steering systems aimed at improving cornering response and stability. Bentley Bentayga Speed: Engine and handling
The new Bentayga Speed uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing 641 bhp and 850 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0–60 mph in a claimed 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 310 kmph.
Compared to previous Bentayga models, the latest version introduces several handling updates. These include a recalibrated SPORT driving mode, ESC Dynamic software, and all-wheel steering. Bentley says these changes allow for more responsive steering, improved cornering grip, and greater driver control.

The Bentayga Speed offers optional carbon ceramic brakes. In combination with ESC Dynamic mode, these brakes are designed to allow more flexibility for drivers, including the ability to engage controlled drift angles or sharper turn-ins using torque vectoring.
All-wheel steering has been introduced as well. At lower speeds, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels, reducing the turning circle. At higher speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction for increased stability. Bentley Bentayga Speed: Design and customisation
Visually, the Bentayga Speed retains its familiar SUV proportions but adds darker exterior elements. Features include dark-tinted headlamp and tail lamp bezels, 22-inch Speed wheels as standard, and an optional 23-inch wheel, a first for Bentley SUVs, available with the carbon ceramic brake package.
Painted brake callipers in a range of colours are also available, reflecting the growing emphasis on personalisation in the luxury SUV segment.

While high-performance SUVs continue to gain popularity, the Bentayga Speed's latest record puts it at the top among production ICE-powered models tackling the Goodwood hill. The car's mix of power, updated handling systems, and braking options places it firmly in competition with rivals from brands such as Lamborghini and Aston Martin.

Buying your dream car in India? Prices may drop for Rolls-Royce, Land Rover and more

The recently finalised Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the United Kingdom is set to significantly reshape trade dynamics across key automotive sectors, particularly impacting luxury car imports and tyre exports. Under the new terms, India will reduce import duties on cars manufactured in the UK from the current 110 per cent to 50 per cent in the first year of implementation. The phased tariff cut is expected to make high-end British automobiles more accessible in the Indian market. Several luxury car brands stand to benefit from the tariff reduction. Rolls-Royce, known for its ultra-luxury offerings such as the Phantom, Ghost, and Cullinan, will see a notable drop in prices. The all-electric Spectre model, slated to arrive later in the decade, will also be subject to the reduced tariff by the fifth year of the FTA. Bentley's lineup, including the Bentayga SUV, Continental GT, and Flying Spur, will also become more competitively priced. With most models priced well over ₹ 5 crore, the lower import duty is expected to improve market accessibility. Aston Martin's range, comprising the Vantage, DB12, Vanquish, and DBX, will similarly benefit. Manufactured at the company's Gaydon facility, these cars are currently imported into India, and the reduced import tax could encourage greater uptake among Indian buyers. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), despite some models being assembled in India, will gain from the reduced duties on completely built units (CBUs). The flagship Range Rover SV and Sport SV, both fully imported, are expected to become significantly more affordable. However, the Defender model, produced in Slovakia, will not qualify for tariff cuts under this agreement. Jaguar, a subsidiary of Tata Motors, is in the midst of transitioning to electric vehicles. Its upcoming ultra-luxury EV based on the Type 00 Concept will qualify for the tariff reductions only after the five-year schedule is completed. Meanwhile, the brand's F-Pace SUV remains locally assembled, limiting the immediate impact of the FTA on that model. The FTA also includes provisions for Indian tyre manufacturers. According to the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers' Association (ATMA), all customs duties on tyres and rubber products exported from India to the UK have been removed with immediate effect. This is expected to enhance the competitiveness of Indian tyre brands in the British ATMA reported that tyre exports to the UK reached ₹ 732 crore in FY2024–25, marking an 11 per cent increase from ₹ 660 crore the previous year. The industry has been on a steady growth path, with a 10 per cent rise in exports also recorded in FY2022–23. On the import side, India has opted for a cautious approach. Tyres from the UK will fall under the E10 staging category, meaning tariffs will be gradually reduced over a ten-year period. This structure is intended to balance market access with protection for the domestic industry. The phased liberalisation is part of a broader strategy aimed at supporting long-term sustainability in India's tyre manufacturing sector, which saw total exports exceed ₹ 25,000 crore in FY2024–25.

Mercedes-Benz will retain the A-Class range longer than initially planned. The automaker introduced the new CLA earlier as a potential replacement for the A-Class earlier this year, with the latter slated to be discontinued in 2026. The German automaker, however, has now had a change of heart and won't discontinue the A-Class hatchback and sedan next year. Instead, the brand's most accessible offerings have received an extension till 2028, albeit only in Europe. The company is addressing the small car demand in Europe with the A-Class range, which will be sold alongside the new-generation CLA. The continued demand for ICE vehicles seems to have made Mercedes re-evaluate its decision, alongside a slower demand for its new electric offerings. Mercedes-Benz A-Class Hatch Continues Till 2028 German publication Automobilwoche spoke to Jorg Burzer, head of production at Mercedes-Benz, who confirmed the development about retaining the A-Class lineup for longer than the original plan. He further noted that the A-Class sedan continues to be a strong seller in the European market, despite being nearly a decade old.
