CBB's Chris Hughes quits ITV job after pay row and is replaced by I'm A Celeb star

The Sun24-04-2025

Celebrity Big Brother star Chris Hughes quit his ITV Racing job after a row over pay.
The former Love Island star, 32, is a lifelong horse racing fan and landed a dream job on ITV Racing in 2019, during which he co-hosted the channel's coverage of huge race meetings, including the Cheltenham Festival and Royal Ascot.

He was a regular presenter of ITV Racing 's Social Stable, alongside Oli Bell, 37, who remains a host on the channel.
Earlier this month, Oli was co-presenting the Social Stable at Aintree's Grand National Festival alongside one of ITV Racing's newest recruits, former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star Sam Quek.
A source said: "Chris had a dream job on ITV Racing, but things turned sour after his ITV wouldn't up his pay. He wasn't paid what he thought he was owed.
"He had a great rapport with Oli in the Social Stable, and ITV Racing viewers have been left wondering where he went.
"It will have hit Chris hard to see ITV Racing's Social Stable move on with Sam taking the reins alongside Oli.
"But he was in great spirits at Aintree, just days ahead of his Celebrity Big Brother stint."
Chris's rep had no comment, ITV were also contacted for comment.
Chris is still a regular at British racecourses, and was decked out in clothing brand House of Cavani's luxury suits throughout this year's Cheltenham Festival in March.
During the four-day event, Chris told how he hadn't missed a Cheltenham Festival since he was 12 years old.
Following the event, some fans took to Chris' Instagram to question why he hadn't been presenting on ITV Racing, and called for his return.

Chris replied: "tell your 79 year old mother, I shall grace her television screen soon"
Another posted: "Why aren't you on the show with Ollie ?? X"
One of Chris' supporters wrote: "Why you not at ITV anymore?"
Chris was a runner at the Grand National Festival at Aintree in early April, where his fellow CBB housemate Chesney Hawkes, 53, was also in attendance, just days before the pair entered the iconic abode.

Richard Madeley opens up on grief after father 'died on the spot'

Richard Madeley has opened up on the moment his father died, saying he 'had a heart attack on the spot' weeks after his wedding Good Morning Britain graced the telly again on Thursday (12 June), as presenters Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid served up another packed edition of the ITV breakfast programme. The dynamic duo delivered a raft of headlines and news updates to ITV audiences. They also welcomed Emmerdale's Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle, for a heartfelt live chat. ‌ Lisa talked about her character's current dramas in the soap, alongside touching on her personal battles with loss, mentioning the passing of both her mother and past Strictly Come Dancing partner Robin Windsor. ‌ This poignant discussion led Richard to share his own heart-wrenching memory of his dad's sudden demise in 1977, which occurred just days after he wed Lynda Hooley. Reflecting on that time, Richard shared: "I remember when my father died. He died on the spot, had a heart attack when he was 49. Huge shock. I was a breakfast producer then, a radio producer." He recounted the difficult period following his father's death: "I remember I had a week off to come to terms with it. After the funeral, I went in, and the guy that I worked with didn't say a word. He didn't say, 'how are you, or what happened', he obviously felt it was best not to talk about it." He continued, expressing understanding yet disagreement with his colleague's reaction: "I don't blame him for that. He couldn't have been more wrong. You want people to come up to you and talk to you. You need that trigger to talk." Moreover, Thursday's episode saw them join forces with their colleague Richard Arnold, who came bearing the latest scoops in showbiz and television, reports the Manchester Evening News. ‌ During his segment, Richard paid homage to the legendary musician Brian Wilson following the announcement of his passing on 11 June. Brian was a founding member of the iconic Beach Boys. The lead singer and co-founder of the band died at the age of 82, with his cause of death yet to be disclosed. "A real pop pioneer. He co-founded one of the most commercially successful bands of all time, the Beach Boys, rivalling The Beatles," Richard shared with his audience. He also reminisced about his own discovery of the Beach Boys back in the 1970s, admitting he played their records "constantly" and was "very much a Beach Boys fan".

One fan wrote: 'Has Genius Game been perfect? Well, no! But for a first series it's been pretty strong despite the glaring issues. It's a shame we won't be getting a second series because I really feel this could be something huge if they were given the chance to grow and change.' Another echoed this and added: 'Despite its flaws (I actually found this finale to be the weakest episode) I really enjoyed Genius Game! I wish people gave it a chance as it did get better and it did have some genuinely 'genius' gameplay which was incredibly exciting to watch. Shame it'll never get a Season 2…' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad A person said: 'Please ITV give this show a second series, one of the best reality competition shows out there.'

JoJo Siwa ‘dropped from record label' as Chris Hughes romance ramps up

JoJo Siwa has reportedly been dropped by record label Columbia Records a year after releasing her single Karma and an EP called Guilty Pleasure with the music giant JoJo Siwa has been dropped by her label Columbia Records, reports suggest. The singer, who is currently dating her Celebrity Big Brother co-star Chris Hughes, is now said to be on the hunt for another label. The news comes as it was revealed she has released her latest tune, Bulletproof, independently. She had initially been signed to the powerhouse in the industry, who also boasts the likes of Miley Cyrus and Halle on their roster. ‌ However, the official site no longer lists JoJo on their artists page. It comes after she released her single Karma and an EP called Guilty Pleasure with the music giant last year. ‌ A source told the Mail: "JoJo has been dropped by Columbia Records… she self-released her latest song Bulletproof whereas Karma was done with the label. She has been in London on the lookout for a new record company to sign with and playing gigs hoping to impress the right people." Despite her apparent dropping, JoJo continues to tour. Her US shows are set to continue later this month, with new man Chris Hughes expected to be in the crowd to support her. JoJo, 22, recently opened up on the sweet bond the duo have formed after spending more time together since leaving the Celebrity Big Brother house. JoJo was speaking to Capital Breakfast presenter Jordan North earlier this week about her love for Chris, 32. She told the host: "You know what's interesting? As hectic as life is, and as much as that noise goes on, I feel like Christopher and I discovered this beautiful house together. ‌ "And this house is earthquake proof, and it's fireproof, and bulletproof. And you know, we discovered this house and found the keys, and we took the keys and locked ourselves in, and now it's like... You know what I mean? I feel like that with myself, I feel like that with him." Jordan then asked her if Chris was her "happy place," to which she certainly agreed. She went on: "Oh my god, absolutely! We're having the best time. He's just the best! ‌ "I was saying this to my parents the other day. Like, I'm decently nice; he makes me look like I'm mean! And I'm like known for being nice, that's the thing. People say to me, 'Oh, you're so nice'. "He makes me we want to be nicer, because he's such a nice human. He's the best egg in the batch! I could never get tired of speaking highly of him, he's just the best."
