
Three burnt alive as mini truck, dumper catch fire after crash
It took two hours for the firefighters to extinguish the flames and retrieve the bodies.
The mini-truck's driver Mahipal (27) and his nephew, Sonu, a cleaner (both from Sambhal), were transporting chemicals from Muzaffarnagar to Kanpur. When they reached the Murray Company turn on the Hardoi-Unnao road in Bangarmau a sand-laden dumper coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with their vehicle. Both vehicles were reportedly travelling at speeds of 80-90 km per hour.
"The impact was so intense that both vehicles caught fire.
Sonu, the mini truck's cleaner, saved himself by jumping out while Mahipal, dumper driver Pawan Yadav (29) of Kanpur Dehat and its cleaner Sumit (20) from Jalaun were charred to death," ASP city Prem Chandra said.
He said hearing the explosion, locals rushed to the scene and saw Mahipal, Pawan and Sumit trapped in their vehicles. Sonu was found sitting on the road with an injured leg.

Attempts were made to rescue the trio, but in vain due to the raging fire.
Police and fire brigade teams broke open the gate to retrieve the three bodies.

The accident caused a 1km-long traffic jam on both sides of the road for about 2 hours.
The ASP said the damaged vehicles have been removed from the road, and traffic has been restored to normal while the injured was undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Fire guts 5 houses in Srirangam
Trichy: At least five houses were burnt in a fire in Srirangam in Trichy on Thursday. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The incident happened around noon in Nariyan Street where some of the residents are florists. The fire which broke out in a house spread to four others. An eight-member team from Srirangam fire and rescue services doused the flames and smoke in an hour. They pulled out LPG gas cylinders from the house, threw them in the channel and emptied the gas. ‘Your time has come': Punjabi singer Mankirt Aulakh gets fresh death threat
1 2 Mohali: Punjabi singer Mankirt Aulakh — who had, in the past, been questioned by the police in the Sidhu Moose Wala murder case — has recieved a fresh death threat, according to a complaint filed with Mohali SSP. In the complaint, Aulakh alleged that he had recieved a WhatsApp message that read: "Tayar hoja, puttara, tera time aagya (get ready, son, your time has come)." The message also included references suggesting harm to Aulakh irrespective of his family status, it has been alleged. Aulakh alleged that his manager later phoned the number, which appeared as 'Preet' on Truecaller, and was told clearly that the singer would be killed. Police said technical teams were working to trace the origin of the number and identify its links with gangsters. This is not the first time the singer has recieved a threat. Last year, after the murder of Moose Wala, Aulakh had alleged gotten threats from the Bambiha gang. He had also alleged that he was stalked outside his Mohali residence. Tina Peters, 69, served as the county clerk of Mesa County, Colorado, from 2018 to 2023, where she oversaw elections US President Donald Trump has again called for the release of a former election clerk in Colorado who was convicted for her role in breaching election data in a quest to find fraud. The President threatened he would take 'harsh measures' if she was not let out of prison. Trump did not specify what those measures would be but has in the past threatened to withhold funding from other states and jurisdictions if they do not align with his policies. A Republican, Peters was convicted last year on most counts against her in the election interference case.
