How Much Will the 2026 Jeep Cherokee Cost? A Lot
It's been a minute since we last saw the Jeep Cherokee, but it's coming back and looks rather good for a compact SUV with mechanical AWD. It's also coming with some electrification via a hybrid system. We now also know it will not be cheap when compared to its competitors. Let's start with the good news regarding the 2026 Jeep Cherokee Hybrid. The 1.6-liter gas engine puts down 177 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque, and the latter provides solid grunt at just 2,000 RPM. It's coupled to a 1.08-kWh battery and a 33-hp, 9-lb-ft hybrid system for a total output of 210 hp and 230 lb-ft. While all that power is sent through a planetary-type continuously variable automatic transmission, it can also go to all four wheels through a transfer case. That said, the Cherokee Hybrid doesn't get a dedicated low gear. Sorry light crawler fans. It will have 8.0 inches of ground clearance, 19.6 degrees of approach angle, an 18.8-degree breakover angle, and 29.4 degrees of departure angle, so there is some real SUV left in the 2026 Jeep Cherokee. The Cherokee can also tow up to 3,500 pounds, Jeep says, so there's some good news for those looking to attach a small camper to the new version. Keep in mind, these are stats for the mainstream Cherokee—an off-road Trailhawk version is surely coming, but has yet to be detailed. So, How Much Will It Cost? However, with a starting ticket of $36,995, the 2026 Jeep Cherokee Hybrid is starting off on a relatively pricey foot. It's not the most expensive in its class (compact SUVs), but it isn't the cheapest by a long shot. We'll compare prices to its competition shortly. The next level up is the Cherokee Laredo at $39,995, followed by the Limited trim at $42,495, and the upscale Overland at $45,995. The Cherokee is not your cheep Jeep anymore, but this is an issue for the smaller Compass, too. As the smallest Jeep you can buy, even the latter comes in at $28,895—that's for a subcompact crossover, a class where a low-$20,000 starting price is possible. Pricey Not Only for a Compact SUV, but for a Compact Hybrid SUV, Too The Jeep's premium pricing becomes more apparent when you compare it to top small hybrid SUVs. First up is the 2025 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and, comparing base-for-base trims, the Cherokee costs $2,945 more. The up-level RAV4 Limited is $3,640 cheaper than the similarly named and fancy Cherokee, too. OK, so what if we compare the Cherokee to our second-best-ranked hybrid SUV in the segment, the Kia Sportage Hybrid? The Sportage S, at $34,035, is $2,960 cheaper than the Cherokee. The X-Line, the off-road special of the Sportage Hybrid lineup at $36,935, is $9,060 less than the Cherokee Overland and represents the biggest price gap of all our comparisons here. The SX Prestige, the top-of-the-line Sportage Hybrid, is $41,835, or a gap of $4,160. The Jeep isn't the most expensive outright, however. The 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid, at $38,580 in entry-level Sport Hybrid trim is $1,585 more expensive than the new Cherokee. However, the TrailSport Hybrid—at $40,250—eats the Jeep for breakfast in price by being $5,745 cheaper than the Cherokee Overland, and surely the upcoming Trailhawk will be even more expensive. But the CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid AWD is $1,205 more than the Cherokee Limited. Overall, for the price, the 2026 Jeep Cherokee does sort of hit a high middle ground in pricing. On average, it is around $3,827 more expensive than our MotorTrend top-three-ranked small hybrid SUVs (including the two Honda CR-V trims that are cheaper). It seems more expensive overall because, well, most of its competitors also offer cheaper non-hybrid powertrain options; the Cherokee is hybrid-only, so there's no version you can buy for less that lines up with entry-level gas-only CR-Vs, Sportages, and the like. Toyota's RAV4 is going all-hybrid, too, for 2026, but we don't yet know how much that version will cost. If the Camry sedan is any indication—it, too, recently went all-hybrid—Toyota will hold entry-level prices for the new RAV4 hybrid close to those of the gas versions it's replacing.

Download images of all the Area West winners from the Porsche Cars North America Newsroom: Seventy-three vehicles - a new record - were entered nationwide this year, a clear indication of the growing passion for classic Porsche vehicles and restoration. Technicians at Porsche Centers across the United States competed in one of three categories: Preservation, which focuses on maintaining the originality of the vehicle; Restoration, which involves bringing a vehicle back to its original condition; and Individualization, which allows for creative modifications. In addition, the gathered crowd bestowed a People's Choice award. Here are the Area West winners: Restoration: Porsche San Francisco 1985 928 SDespite the over 81,000 miles on the odometer, the 1985 928 S from Porsche San Francisco has been restored to an impeccable condition. The chassis was stripped, reworked, and fitted with hand-shaped steel flares, perfectly aligned bumpers, and finished in original Viper Green. A period-correct 2.8L flat-six—built from a new Porsche block with rare Mahle pistons—powers the car. Custom houndstooth interior, S-trim panels, and a re-wrapped dash add vintage flair. The suspension and wheels, mirror the RSR's aggressive stance and performance. Every detail—from hardware to lighting—was chosen for authenticity, showcasing the technicians' creativity and attention to detail. People's Choice: Porsche Tucson 1972 914 Off-RoadFor this entry, the team at Porsche Tucson turned to the community for inspiration. The technicians wanted to go beyond a typical restoration; they wanted to create something the people of Tucson could appreciate. To kick off their efforts, the team organized an event where customers could share their wishes for the car. The result was a Fire Orange 1972 Off-Road, a car many consider a cult classic. 'I Bought This With 0 Engine Codes:' Man Buys Ram as a Work Truck. Then the Lifters Go Haywire
A landscaper from Bennett Irrigation has gone viral for revealing how his Ram engine started making a strange noise after he had only driven the truck for 20,000 miles. In a TikTok that's generated 33,600 views as of this writing, Jeff Bennett (@ shares how he bought the Ram with zero engine codes, but the lifters have now gone haywire. 'I just want to show you guys some [expletives] here,' he begins. Clearly frustrated, Bennett starts up the engine to showcase the sputtering noise coming from the engine. 'I only put 20,000 miles on it, and mind you, I bought this with zero engine codes,' he says. He expresses disbelief that the lifters are messed up before he concludes. Commenters Respond 'Sounds like It just needs an exhaust manifold/gaskets,' one TikTok commenter said. Bennett replied to this comment, 'I wish. The shop diagnosed it and quoted me $12,000. Lifters ate up the camshaft. Needs a new engine, rebuild is the same price $4,000 - 8,000, as an engine swap.' Other commenters chimed in to take jabs at Bennett for buying a Ram. The top comment was 'You should have expected that. It's a RAM.' 'Once those rams hit 70k miles, it's over,' another shared. 'Who buys a Dodge?' a third replied. What Are Lifters? According to JD Power , a car lifter is a cylinder that is placed between a car's cylinder valves and camshaft. These engine lifters assist the valves operating in the engine and are either hydraulic or mechanical. The camshaft will move over the top of the lifter and cause a quick opening of the valve. While this occurs, the intake and exhaust valves need to open at separate times, and both valves will need their own lifter. 'As the camshaft rotates, the lifters act on a series of pushrods, which, in turn, operate the rocker arms to open and close the engine's valves,' per Car Parts . How Do You Know When the Lifters Go Haywire? According to Wantou , here are five common symptoms of a bad lifter: Ticking or Tapping Noise: This takes place when the lifters are no longer maintaining proper contact with the camshaft, leading to a gap. A tapping noise is made as the part moves. Engine Misfires: This happens when the valves cannot open and close properly. This disrupts the combustion process. Reduced Engine Performance: Sluggish acceleration and less power occur when lifters malfunction. Check Engine Light: This warning sign could indicate something is up with the lifters. Excessive Exhaust Smoke: While rare, white or blue smoke can be produced from the exhaust when the lifters cause the engine to burn oil or fuel improperly. Replacing a lifter is going to be pricey and labor-intensive. Typically, it'll cost between $1,000-$2,500 to replace, Car Parts reports. This number can fluctuate and will depend on location, year, model, and make of your car. What Is the Best Work Truck? Selecting the best work truck will ultimately come down to a variety of factors and needs. Work trucks are categorized into three main types based on their Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). Categories begin with Class 1 and go through Class 8, and these categories include Light-Duty Trucks (Classes 1-3), Medium-Duty Trucks (Classes 4-6), Heavy-Duty Trucks (Classes 7-8), Aschen Bach Auto Group and Speed Wrench report. What is considered 'light' are non-commercial vehicles, including trucks, SUVs, vans, and minivans. According to Coast Pay , here are the best selections for light-duty trucks for classes 1-3. Class 1: Toyota Tacoma, Honda Ridgeline, Ford Ranger, Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon, and Nissan Frontier. Class 2: Ford F-150/F-250, Chevy Silverado 2500HD, Dodge Ram 1500, Nissan Titan XD, and GMC Sierra 2500. Class 3: RAM 3500, Ford Super Duty F-350, GMC Sierra 3500, and Chevrolet Silverado 3500. While this list covers multiple brands and models, many commenters recommended Toyota to use for work trucks. 'You should have brought a Toyota,' one TikTok commenter mentioned. 'I have heard very good things about Toyota trucks for work,' one Reddit user added. Selecting the best work truck will depend on what exactly you need for your business. It's best to conduct your own research and determine what you are looking to get out of your work truck. Motor1 has contacted Bennett Irrigation via email. This story will be updated if it replies.
