Hedge Fund Up 42% Last Year Offloads Its Biggest Winner Nvidia

Bloomberg6 hours ago

Hedge fund founder Jonah Cheng calls Nvidia Corp. the best pick of his career. But he has now sold the last of his shares in the company, expressing doubts about the outlook for the $3.5 trillion chipmaker.
The former UBS Group AG analyst, whose tech-focused fund generated returns of 42% last year, was among the investors who rode Nvidia's breakneck rise over the past decade. It was one of the first stocks he bought when he set up the Captain Global Fund in 2016, and he has reinvested multiple times since then.

Women CEOs Reach Record High On 2025 Fortune 500 List, But With Only 2 Black Women Listed Representation Is Still Lacking

For the first time in its 71-year history, the 2025 Fortune 500 list shows that women lead 11% of the largest U.S. companies by revenue. Surpassing the 10% mark is a historic milestone in corporate leadership, Fortune reports. Now 55 women serve as CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, up from 52 in both 2023 and 2024. While this is positive news, only two of the 55 women are Black: Thasunda Brown Duckett, CEO of TIAA, and Toni Townes-Whitley, CEO of Science Applications International Corp. The rise in women-led companies is largely due to internal promotions. Per Fortune, companies such as Freeport-McMoRan, Principal Financial Group, Ulta Beauty, U.S. Bancorp, J.B. Hunt Transport, and Marathon Petroleum Corp. all appointed women from within their executive ranks to the CEO role. Notably: Kathleen Quirk was promoted from CFO to CEO at Freeport-McMoRan. Deanna Strable-Soethout now leads Principal Financial Group. Kecia Steelman was elevated to CEO at Ulta Beauty. Gunjan Kedia is taking the reins at U.S. Bancorp. Shelley Simpson stands at the top of J.B. Hunt Transport. Maryann Mannen now heads Marathon Petroleum Corp. Other significant appointments include Susan Morris at Albertsons and Marina Cheung, who became CEO of S&P Global after serving as president of S&P Global Ratings. Further adding to the record-breaking figures this year is SiriusXM, making its debut on the Fortune 500 for the first time. Even with these advancements, Black women are still glaringly underrepresented in corporate leadership positions. The only Black women on the 2025 list are the same two CEOs, Duckett and Townes-Whitley. The persistent disparity in racial equity highlights more general issues, particularly as some businesses turn away from diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, as AFROTECH previously reported. Jennifer McCollum, president and CEO of Catalyst, a workplace gender equity organization, shines some light on the matter in an article from People of Color in Tech (POCIT). '…We're seeing more companies roll back on DEI initiatives at large companies. If companies reduce their commitment to these policies, there is great risk of progress stalling or even reversing, impacting opportunities for generations of talent to come,' McCollum said. As Fortune reports, the 2025 Fortune 500 businesses generate $19.9 trillion in revenue between them, two-thirds of the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP). The importance of who runs these businesses extends well beyond representation. As more women step into top leadership roles, racial equity and inclusive leadership are equally important. The Fortune 500's future hinges on recommitting to DEI initiatives, developing robust talent pipelines, and elevating diverse leaders. These actions are essential to guarantee that the nation's diversity is accurately reflected in the next generation of corporate leadership. SMARTBUILD Launches SMRT-E: AI Voice Technology Designed to Simplify Field Reporting while Enhancing Data Quality

Toronto, June 17, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Toronto, Ontario - SMARTBUILD Construction Solutions Launches SMRT-E: AI Voice Technology Designed to Simplify Construction Field Reporting. Hands-free, Real-Time Documentation with Over 200 Languages to Reduce Communication Barriers. Toronto, Ontario, June 6, 2025 - SMARTBUILD Construction Solutions, a Canadian-based innovator in construction technology, has announced the official release of SMRT-E, a voice-activated AI assistant designed to streamline site reporting and improve the accuracy of field data across construction projects. SMRT-E signifies advancement in the construction field communication tools, providing hands-free data capture through voice-activated conversations, allowing communication in up to 200 languages. It aims to enhance the experience of field workers in construction companies by reducing the friction associated with documentation and reports while integrating with their existing workflows. Traditional documentation methods rely on manual input, SMRT-E enables site workers to log updates, safety observations, and progress reports entirely by voice. Its intuitive speech interface is built specifically for dynamic field environments. Documentation on job sites has traditionally been a bottleneck. The expectation is to provide detailed field updates exactly as they happen. Field crews are focused on multiple things like power tools, equipment, and safety protocols. Records become incomplete or delayed, leading to confusion, missed deadlines, or disputes. SMRT-E enables teams to report site activity as it occurs verbally, converting speech into structured, time-stamped entries, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of communication between the field and the office. These updates are automatically logged and stored in the user's preferred project management system. Integrating with leading construction solutions, SMRT-E provides a cost-effective solution that connects with tools such as Procore, Autodesk, SMARTBUILD, and Aconex, ensuring data flows seamlessly to the user's preferred project management tool. SMARTBUILD notes that the tool is also designed with compliance in mind, providing automated alerts for reporting requirements and enabling oversight across multiple active job sites. Operational leaders can view field conditions and documentation across all projects in a centralized platform. "Construction has been held back by digital tools that require months of training and have never been truly designed for the field to use," said Rowan Steel-Hall, COO at SMARTBUILD Construction Solutions. "SMRT-E flips that. Simply chat with SMRT-E, and it takes care of the rest. About SMARTBUILD Construction Solutions SMARTBUILD recognizes the unique needs of construction projects, including stakeholders like general contractors, subcontractors, and architects. Backed by over 50 years of combined field experience, they've developed purpose-built tools for each role: SMART-GC for general contractors, SMART-SUB for trade partners, and the upcoming SMART-AE to support architects from concept to closeout. Each solution is crafted to simplify workflows and improve communication across every phase of construction. Senate expected to pass crypto bill without addressing Trump's investments

WASHINGTON — The Senate is expected to approve legislation Tuesday that would regulate a form of cryptocurrency known as stablecoins, the first of what is expected to be a wave of crypto legislation from Congress that the industry hopes will bolster its legitimacy and reassure consumers. The fast-moving legislation, which will be sent to the House for potential revisions, comes on the heels of a 2024 campaign cycle where the crypto industry ranked among the top political spenders in the country, underscoring its growing influence in Washington and beyond.
