Roblox child abuse allegations: Here's a bite-by-bite breakdown of the controversy
'Roblox is overrun with harmful content and child predators because it prioritizes user growth, revenue, and profits over child safety. Every parent should be aware of the clear and present danger posed to their children by Roblox so they can prevent the unthinkable from ever happening in their own home,' she said in her statement, later calling the platform a 'breeding ground for sex predators,' per the Washington Post.
The Louisiana case goes further by demanding a jury trial, accusing Roblox of deceptive trade practices and negligence under state law. Murrill's office argues the company has 'created an abusive and unsafe environment for children.'

Roblox's CEO 'sits down with the game's safety leaders'
Roblox, which boasts tens of millions of young daily users, pushed back on the claims. The company said it was constantly working to improve its moderation systems. 'No system is perfect and bad actors adapt to evade detection,' Roblox said in a statement.
They later posted more on X, noting, 'CEO @DavidBaszucki sits down with Roblox safety leaders to share how we're advancing safety and civility on the platform.'
But critics argue Roblox hasn't done enough, one example is the platform's crackdown on 'vigilante' players who pose as children to expose predators. While some see them as whistleblowers, Roblox claims these vigilantes bypass its moderation systems.

Roblox's long history of allegations
The Louisiana lawsuit is the latest in a growing list of cases against Roblox. Concerns first gained national attention in October 2022 when a San Francisco lawsuit alleged the platform facilitated the exploitation of a California girl. Adult men reportedly used Roblox to lure her into drinking, abusing prescription drugs, and sharing explicit photos, according to Reuters.
Earlier this year, another California lawsuit alleged that a predator groomed a 10-year-old girl he met on Roblox before moving the communication to Discord. The predator allegedly abducted her. That lawsuit, filed by Anapol Weiss, marked at least the seventh case accusing Roblox of systemic negligence.

Iraq begins dig at site of suspected IS mass grave near Mosul
Excavation at the site has proved especially difficult due to the presence of sulphur-laced underground water, which has made the soil soft and unstable Armoured vehicles belonging to Iraqi security forces are stationed outside the US Embassy in Baghdad's Green Zone, Iraq, June 12, 2025. File Image/Reuters Iraqi authorities have commenced excavation work at a suspected mass grave near the northern city of Mosul, believed to be one of the country's largest burial sites linked to atrocities committed by the Islamic State group, officials said Sunday (August 17). The site, known as Khasfa, is a yawning sinkhole situated just outside Mosul, where IS once declared the capital of its self-styled caliphate. The dig, which began on 10 August, marks the first phase of surface-level excavation, according to project head Ahmed al-Assadi. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD An AFP correspondent at the scene described the discovery of human skulls poking through the sand: grim remnants of a chapter marked by terror and bloodshed. 'There are no exact figures,' Assadi said, referring to the number of victims. But a 2018 United Nations report identified Khasfa as likely Iraq's largest mass grave from the IS era. Official estimates suggest that at least 4,000 bodies were dumped there — with the possibility of thousands more still buried beneath. Assadi noted that those interred include soldiers executed by IS, local civilians, and members of the Yazidi religious minority — many of whom were systematically targeted by the jihadists. Excavation at the site has proved especially difficult due to the presence of sulphur-laced underground water, which has made the soil soft and unstable. This not only complicates digging but may also have eroded remains, making DNA identification harder, Assadi explained. The chasm itself stretches approximately 150 metres deep and 110 metres across — a vast, ominous wound in the earth. Further studies are required before deeper exhumation can proceed, Assadi said. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD In 2016 alone, IS fighters are believed to have executed as many as 280 people at Khasfa in a single day, many of them employees of Iraq's interior ministry, in what officials described as 'one of the worst massacres' carried out by the group. Between 2014 and 2017, IS militants swept across large parts of Iraq and Syria, imposing their harsh interpretation of Islamic law and carrying out widespread killings, abductions and sexual violence. The UN estimates that IS left behind more than 200 mass graves across Iraq, potentially containing up to 12,000 bodies. Even as the country grapples with the legacy of IS brutality, Iraqi authorities continue to uncover mass graves from earlier periods including from the regime of Saddam Hussein, toppled in a 2003 US-led invasion. Roblox getting banned? Why gaming platform is facing troubles in US and abroad
Roblox appears to be in a spot of trouble, as the online game platform attempts to battle growing controversies over child safety and its imposition of bans on 'vigilante' users. This has led to fears that Roblox might get banned. Roblox found itself in hot water when Schlep, who was working on delivering 'vigilante justice' found himself banned due to his actions.(AP) However, there is no such confirmation of Roblox getting banned in the US just yet, but it has happened elsewhere, which might explain the fears. Here's what has been happening with Roblox at home and abroad. Roblox troubles and bans: In the US and beyond On August 13, Qatar seemingly blocked Roblox. Qatar Tribune reported Roblox was no longer available to players throughout the country. While it could be downloaded on iOS or Android, if internet connections were deduced to be in Qatar, then the game could not be accessed. The move came over concerns regarding child safety, though there have been no official statements from Qatar or Roblox. Notably, countries like Oman, China, and Turkey have blocked Roblox in the past. Roblox has also run into trouble in Indonesia, with Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, last Thursday, calling for a tightening of safety measures, and alignment with the country's child protection regulations, Jakarta Globe reported. Meanwhile, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill is also acting against Roblox. She announced on Thursday that she'd filed a lawsuit against Roblox in the state court, alleging that children headed to the platform are not protected from predators, Forbes reported. 'Roblox is overrun with harmful content and child predators because it prioritizes user growth, revenue, and profits over child safety,' Murrill said. Some days back, Roblox found itself in hot water when Schlep, who was working on delivering 'vigilante justice' found himself banned due to his actions. Roblox has long been criticized for its security shortcomings, prompting many to take up 'vigilante justice'. Roblox CEO David Baszucki has been working to put out the fires, as troubles seem to mount.

Bryan Kohberger's phone reveals explicit photos and shirtless selfies; Details here
Bryan Kohberger, who was convicted of murdering four University of Idaho students, went to extreme lengths to hide his search history before and after committing the crime. However, he did not remove any photos from his phone before he was arrested. In July, Bryan Kohberger was sentenced to four life sentences, one for each of the murders, plus another 10 years for burglary.(via REUTERS) According to digital forensics expert Heather Barnhart, investigators found shocking photos on his phone that included shirtless selfies and images of women who were either nude or in bikinis. 'Lots of him posing half naked in the mirror while flexing,' Barnhart told The People. Barnhart revealed that she didn't know if Kohberger, 30, had sent the pictures to anyone. There were also photos of his 2016 white Hyundai Elantra, the car he drove on the night he killed Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin on November 13, 2022. Bryan Kohberger acted like 'American Psycho' 'Very vain, like American Psycho,' Barnhart said about the photos, referring to the 2000 movie where Christian Bale plays a serial killer. Another photo showed Kohberger giving a thumbs-up in the bathroom of his apartment on the Washington State University campus. Barnhart said the photo was taken after he had already killed the students. She also said there were no pictures of the victims or any family or friends in his collection. He was arrested in December 2024. Police had found a knife sheath at the scene with touch DNA that linked him to the crime. He first pleaded not guilty but later changed his plea to guilty to avoid the death penalty. On Friday, Idaho prison officials responded to Kohberger's claims that he is being bullied by other inmates. 'We are aware of Kohberger's complaints about what he considers taunting,' an Idaho Department of Corrections spokesperson told People in a statement. 'Incarcerated individuals commonly communicate with each other in prison.' The spokesperson said Kohberger is 'housed alone in a cell' at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution in Kuna, Idaho, and that 'security staff maintain a safe and orderly environment for all individuals in our custody.' Earlier this week, retired homicide detective Chris McDonough said Kohberger's fellow inmates were 'driving him crazy' and 'tormenting him at night and almost all hours of the day — taunting him through the vents in his cell. They are literally getting up into the grate and yelling at him. The inmates are taking it in turns doing it. It's relentless.'
