AP Adivasi JAC demands jobs for only tribals in Agency areas
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu should keep his promise of implementing 100% reservation in Scheduled Areas to STs, said JAC ASR district chairman Rama Rao Dora in a statement on Sunday. Only ST candidates should be appointed as teachers in the tribal areas in the recent DSC notification for teachers, he said.
The JAC leader recalled that former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao had issued G.O. no. 275 to remove the inequalities being faced by the tribal people in social, education and employment sectors. Subsequently, Mr. Naidu as the Chief Minister brought out G.O. no. 3 to overcome legal challenges.
The Constitution has made it clear that it was the responsibility of the governments to safeguard the job prospects of the tribal people living in the scheduled areas, he added.
While welcoming the decision to hold review meetings with Tribal Welfare Director Pratibha Bharathi with all ITDAs on G.O. no. 3 and on other tribal welfare acts, Mr. Rama Rao sought that an IAS officer should be specially appointed to hear the views of the tribal people and take representations from them.

HC asks mining secy to file personal affidavit to PIL in illegal mining case
Raipur: The Chhattisgarh High Court directed the Secretary of the Mining Department to file a personal affidavit in response to a public interest litigation (PIL) concerning illegal stone mining on govt land. The directive came during the hearing of a PIL filed by Kholbahara, son of a former Sarpanch, through counsel Yogesh Chandra. The petition alleges that Rajeshwar Sahu, son of former Sarpanch, and others were illegally mining minor minerals (stone) on govt land at Khasra No. 16/1, with an area of 14.2 hectares, in Nandeli village, Jaijaipur tehsil, Sakti district. Villagers repeatedly complained to the district and tehsil administrations about the illegal activity. Following a lack of action, Kholbahara previously filed a writ petition. While an initial notice was issued, the court dismissed the petition on June 30, 2025, stating that the petitioner was not personally affected and the matter pertained to public interest. The court granted liberty to file a PIL. The current PIL was filed under Article 226 of the Constitution through counsel Chandra. A division bench of Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Vibhu Dutt Guru heard the matter. The petitioner's counsel informed the court that the respondents were gradually filling the site after receiving the court's notice, stressing the need for action. The Advocate General sought time to file a response in the case, which the court granted. Chief Justice Sinha instructed the Secretary of the Mining Department to submit a personal affidavit in the matter.

Shabbir calls for Bahujan unity
Hyderabad: State govt advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Sunday called upon the Bahujan communities to stand strongly in support of the Congress to save the Constitution from the efforts being made to allegedly change it on the lines of 'Manusmriti'. Addressing the 'Bahujan Alai-Balai' programme in Kamareddy organised by the All India Ambedkar Yuvajana Sangham, he said it is the foremost responsibility of the Bahujan samaj to protect the Constitution. "Those trying to change the Constitution and bring in 'Manusmriti' will not succeed as long as the Congress is there and Bahujans stand behind the party. Condemn efforts to ‘saffronize' education sector in Kerala, says minister V Sivankutty
T'puram: General education minister V Sivankutty said that the state govt strongly condemns efforts to saffronize the education sector under the guise of implementing the National Education Policy (NEP). He was responding to concerns raised in connection with the 'Jnanasabha' event held in Ernakulam on Sunday. "Attempts to bring the education sector under the influence of any particular ideology or political agenda cannot be accepted under any circumstances. Education should be accessible and secular for everyone. However, it is concerning that some organizations are trying to distort educational policies to suit their interests," the minister said. "It is particularly worrying that the vice-chancellors of five universities in the state are participating in an event led by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. Universities should be independent and impartial. Using institutions for political interests will have far-reaching consequences," Sivankutty added. The state govt is committed to protecting Kerala's public and higher education sectors, Sivankutty said. The govt's goal is to ensure an education system that aligns with the fundamental principles of the Constitution and democratic values. The public in Kerala will take all necessary steps to counter attempts at saffronization and uphold the secular nature of the education sector, he added.
