Jagan vows YSRCP's resurgence, slams ‘vendetta' politics
Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged that the current coalition government is mired in corruption and is fabricating false cases against YSRCP leaders and senior officials with 'vendetta' to instill fear and divert attention from its own failures in implementing welfare schemes.
He provided a detailed account of what he termed the government's vindictive actions, citing the arrests of leaders like P Midhun Reddy, Nandigama Suresh, Kakani Govardhan Reddy, and Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy. The YSRCP chief stated that the total loans taken during his 2019-24 tenure were Rs 3.32 lakh crore, while Naidu has allegedly spent 52 per cent of that amount in just 14 months. He suggested Naidu's recent trip to Singapore was merely to 'stash the looted funds.'
During the meeting, PAC members expressed serious concern over alleged security lapses during Jagan's tours, terming them 'deliberate', citing an incident at Bangarupalem. Jagan announced the upcoming launch of a party app aimed at documenting government injustices, enabling citizens to report harassment by individuals or officials. 'We will hold the guilty accountable and ensure justice,' he said.
'We have lost a good government, but the people's support is with us. Together, we will restore justice, rebuild our state, and bring YSRCP back to power,' he added.

Three nominations received for Vice President election on day one; rejected
NEW DELHI: Three persons submitted nominations for the September 9 vice presidential election on Thursday but all of them were rejected on technical grounds. The nominations were received from K Padmarajan of Salem in Tamil Nadu, Jeevan Kumar Mittal of Moti Nagar, Delhi and Naidugari Rajasekhar of Srimukhalingam Village in Andhra Pradesh. Their nominations were rejected under sub-section (4) of section 5B of the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Elections Act, which deals with the presentation of nomination papers and requirements for a valid nomination. Padmarajan and Mittal attached certified copies of the electoral roll of their respective Parliamentary Constituencies containing their names as registered voters, but these were dated prior to the issue of the election notification. Rajasekhar's copy was not certified by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), and he also failed to submit the mandatory security deposit of Rs 15,000.

Man gets life term for raping 3 minor girls in 2022
Cuttack: A special Pocso court here on Thursday convicted a 24-year-old man of raping three minor girls in 2022 and sentenced him to life imprisonment. "No leniency can be shown to the convict who has committed an offence under Pocso Act against innocent minor girls aged less than 12 years when the same is proved by adequate evidence," presiding judge Himansu Sekhar Singh observed while pronouncing the sentence. The judge recommended the case of the three girls to the district legal services authority (DLSA) for granting compensation as per Odisha Victim Compensation Scheme. "The girls were children less than 12 years of age at the time of occurrence who were sexually assaulted by the accused. Accordingly, the victims are awarded Rs 4 lakh each as compensation under the scheme," the judge ordered, adding, "The copy of the judgment be forwarded to the secretary, DLSA, Cuttack for information and necessary action." Special public prosecutor Ramesh Chandra Mohanty led the prosecution, while advocate R K Das represented the accused. According to the trial court order, the cases were registered on the basis of complaints lodged by the parents of the girls at a police station in Cuttack city on Sept 12, 2022. Farmer killed in wild elephant attack near Madikeri
Madikeri: A 72-year-old farmer was killed in a wild elephant attack in Madikeri taluk on Wednesday night. Shivappa, a farmer from Chembu village near Sampaje, was killed just outside his house, at around 8:30 pm. He heard unusual noises outside his home and stepped out to investigate, when a wild elephant suddenly attacked him. His screams alerted nearby residents, who rushed to his aid. However, Shivappa had sustained grievous injuries and was lying in a pool of blood in the verandah of his house. His family members transported him to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries before receiving any medical assistance, authorities said. State wildlife board member Sanketh Poovaiah visited the victim's family to collect details of the incident. He spoke to forest officials and urged them to to drive the elephants back into the forest immediately. The department officials have assured that compensation will be released at the earliest. Anish and Delvin, residents of Chinnur in Nanjarayapatna, were going to the field to play on Wednesday morning, when a wild elephant suddenly emerged from the coffee estate and attacked their bike, causing serious head injuries to Delvin.
