Some dogs get excited at the thought of bathing because it means they can play in the water. Then there are the rest of pups like Finn the Golden Retriever who'd really rather not. Despite having a love of water in his genes, he'll put up a fight when Dad attempts to take him to the bath, and it's the funniest sight!
The dedication to *not* getting clean is admirable. Watch as Finn makes his point that he isn't a fan of bath time!

First comes desensitization. Slowly over time, expose your dog to the different parts of bathing, beginning with the room itself, then the tub, followed by running water and washing. The trick is to make bathing fun and it might take some practice (and a lot of patience), but you'll get there.
When your pup enters the bathroom, reward them with a treat. Repeat this process until they're no longer afraid of the room. Do the same thing with the other aspects until you've successfully gotten them to sit in an empty tub, and again, lots of praise and treats. End every session when they do this calmly, eating treats so they associate the positive feeling of a bath.
The next step is to have them in the tub with the water on, but don't let it touch them. You want to gradually progress to water touching different parts ofd them until they're no longer scared. More treats and praise, then end the session without an actual bath.
Finally, add in shampoo and a rinse. If they resist, start over at step one to help them gain the confidence and feel comfortable. Don't force them! They'll get it if you're patient.
We have no idea if Dad succeeded in bathing Finn, but at least we all got a kick out of watching him try!
