Akola: Chaos erupted at the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) office in Akola on Friday following protests by Shiv Sena (UBT) workers. The party workers hurled chairs and damaged office property to express their anger over the non-implementation of a water pipeline project.
The protesters, including villagers from Ramgaon and surrounding saline belt areas, accused the authorities of delaying a vital water supply project despite earlier assurances. The region, known for its saline groundwater, has long awaited potable water through a separate pipeline under a scheme announced by the Zilla Parishad and MJP.
Authorities had reportedly promised that the pipeline connection would be completed within 8 to 10 days.
However, 15 days have passed with no progress, prompting locals and Shiv Sena (UBT) activists to stage a protest.
The Sena (UBT) workers stormed an officer's chamber, throwing chairs out of the room and damaging furniture and glass panels. They warned of similar protests if the pipeline work does not start. Police were called to the scene following reports of vandalism and are monitoring the situation.
As of the time this report was filed, no formal response had been issued by the MJP.

AC locals are not the answer—trains from Kasara, Titwala, and Kalyan arrive packed, leaving no room for our commuters,' he said.

THANE: Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde took a pointed jab at the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) faction on Monday, referring to it as a 'fake arena' and reminded his supporters how he floored his political rivals during the 2022 rebellion. Supriya Sule sidesteps question on buzz over NCP factions reuniting
The NCP, founded by Sharad Pawar, split in July 2023 after nephew Ajit Pawar joined the then Shiv Sena-BJP coalition government. The party name and its clock symbol was given to the Ajit Pawar faction, while the one headed by the former Union agriculture minister was christened NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar). There has been speculation that the two factions could be looking at burying the hatchet and reuniting. To a query on a section of the NCP (SP) having the same feeling and Sharad Pawar saying all decisions regarding the party will be taken by her, Sule said, "I have had no time to discuss the party affairs with party leaders or meet my family for the last 15 days."
